YES. The rotating bezel is the feature I use the most to filter out my notifications as well as switching the music volume on my Buds2.

The battery life and the rotating bezel compelled me to get the watch 3 even though I had the watch 4. I like the app ecosystem on wear os, but the single day battery life is a pain!

I had the watch 4 for a little while, and it is a great watch with great feature, but i really don’t see any difference that much to get the watch 5 over the 4! As an average consumer, i would buy the 4 for it would be a better price over the 5 with money towards other things to spare!

I used to be against smartwatches, but since finding a job that requires me to not have my phone, I had to start looking into buying a watch to still be able to keep up with all of my appointments and things. Got a sweet deal from Samsung on a new phone AND watch, and after watching this review, I'm excited! I really need something to keep me on track and top of everything without always having to pull out my phone every 30 seconds.

Same here! It's just so damn useful having all your appointments on your watch and if you just get the BT version and don't connect it to your phone, then you can also avoid being on your phone and/or available 24/7.

I watched the entire video and I could relate with you on so many things like being a mom, not being interested in all of the workout / health data beyond the essentials on a smartwatch, and only getting calls from my mom. 😅

wait did I miss that you're little one has arrived? Congratulations! Solid review overall. I jumped from the watch 4 classic to the watch 5 pro mostly for battery life. having multiple day battery is such a relief. otherwise I miss the rotating bezel.

I traded my Watch 4 44mm for the Watch 5, which came bundled with the duo charger on Samsung trade in. Only paid $160.00. Much faster charging, at least 30% longer battery, and I find the accuracy of the heart rate monitoring and sleep tracking to be significantly more accurate.

How do you find the vibrator motor? I had to return the watch 4 because i found it too weak and was missing alarm and text message vibrations at work when my phone is on silent and i had it on the strongest setting. Do you find the vibration is same or stronger on the watch 5?

Samung says they are waiting for stock on the duo wireless charger that comes free. I am slo getting a $119 CDN credit for my active 1 which is a good deal. $230 CDN plus $30 CDN taxes so $260 CDN total.

I have to say that the best thing about your videos are the "real world" applications of the watch. I love the line that you said this is more of a "wellness watch" as opposed to a fitness tracker. I bought the watch 5 pro instead of watch 5 and I can do close to a week with light use :) I agree with u, having the smart watch answering calls is the best, its so convenient without having to pull put the phone all the time.

Keeping it a buck fifty is what makes your opinions so valuable. I'll be waiting for the next iteration and hopefully, that brings back the classic version. But on the nonclassic, they should ditch the touch bezel so they can utilize the full screen. I have a feeling it won't be missed.

I enjoyed your honest review. I also had the 4 version and now have the 5. I did however get the bigger size in both. I have noticed the upgrade in the fit for the sensors. My 4 was being hit and miss just monitoring my heart rate and now its fine. Hardly ever skips a beat. The upgrade in battery and charging speed made me just, and only just, feel like the upgrade was worth it. The bigger size gets nearly 2 days on a single charge which is a big improvement. Like you I do wish the skin temperature sensor was active at launch. Only reason I can think of is that its yet to be approved as a health metric in all the various countries. Once it is I think it will be active. I can't wait to try it out.

I also bought the bigger size (44 mm) only because of the better battery.. Does it fit good in your hand? I mean it fits ok to mine but I can see a gap where the watch bracelet starts (cause the dial is bigger I guess) and I wonder if it affects the measurements!

If the sapphire on a watch like that is hit hard enough to shatter, you have much bigger things to worry about like losing your hand. I've had a lot of old school watches, and have tested the shock resistantance of sapphire, like dropping a sapphire lens watch facedown on concrete, to even throwing it - no damage to the crystal.

Great and very honest review! Glad to know I am not alone! I received my gw5 and was going to trade in my gw4. I canceled the purchase sent the gw5 back and I'm waiting for a credit. Then I started looking at things that I cannot have like Huawei watches which in my opinion or some of the most attractive in the market. I just wish I could use one with my Samsung phone.

Great to have this review just as I'm hunting! Important for me though: Can you set multiple timers on the galaxy watch 4 and or watch 5??? I bake, and cook, I want a 5 min timer for X to run as I'm in a different timer for Y!

I have the 4 and wasn't planning to upgrade, but I really got the watch 5 pro for free with the fold 4 (I'm gonna try this folding thing). I'm looking forward to the battery life, but hopeful Samsung/Google will take WearOS seriously and get some developers on board

I’ll keep my GW4 for now. It does all I need and battery life is good enough for me. Unless you are a tech reviewer or just have to have the new thing, I don’t know why you would pay your hard earned money for a watch more than every 2-3 years at most.

I upgraded to the GW5P from a Fitbit Sense on day 1 of release. Big upgrade from fitbit with bioelectrical body analysis, blood pressure (with a hack as I am in the US), and watch apps. My wrist circumference is 8 inches so the Pro model isn't too bad. Love it so far. It's a bit inconsistent with auto detection of exercise, using body temperature and sleep patterns (keeps thinking my bedtime is 10pm). The Fitbit Sense was better in those tasks, but these are minor complaints. All my devices are now Samsung .

Glad to know because I have the three and I still love it and haven't got the four and was trying to wait to see the watches has blood pressure monitor because if you don't have a Galaxy phone you can't use it on the three yet. I might just get the four soon.

I like having both Bixby and Google Assistant on the watch. Both have their uses in my daily routine...Bixby still has location based reminders...something Assistant just retired.

HI, great video. There is one physical difference that Samsung made between the Watch 4 for and the Watch 5. They moved the microphone from the backside bottom, to the front between the buttons. This was a big thing for me, because my meaty arm would cover the microphone and my callers could not hear me. That plus the great deal that I got from Samsung during Prime days ($83 + trade-in). It was well worth it for me.

They can do more. The smaller 42mm original Galaxy Watch had a 3 day battery, 2 with more features enabled. I had one but I wanted longer so now have a Huawei GT2 (10-14 days). Battery life has got worse.

I have the watch3 classic and was going to get the 4 when it came out but it was without google and so many of the extra things with the sensors I held off. Did pick up a charging stand and screen protector thinking I would get one but just did not do it. Now I would get the Watch 5 pro with LTE if it just had the rotating bezel. So now I'm thinking about just going back and get a watch 4 with the bezel and just hope it is worth it. Been checking prices but even verizon is not doing any real deals in them. With my health I could really use some of the things the 5 does but I think samsung is going to see their mistake in not keeping the bezel they will release a version with it or add it back into the next version

I've been using a Fitbit for years and love using Samsung products. I actually bought one of the first Samsung fitness watches that came out many years ago.. it was trash! I've been debating on buying the Galaxy Watch 5 for myself for Christmas. I found your video very informative. So thanks! Question: I noticed when you had the watches side by side, the Watch 4 was silver but the Watch 5 wasn't silver but not gold either... is it just the lighting?

Great review and overview as always. The only note; samsungs keyboard does support swipe gestures and a full qwerty keyboard. You have to go into the settings and reset the keyboard to default if you've restored settings from a watch running one ui 4.0. No idea why... 4.5 includes the new keyboard, but it WILL NOT show up if you updated to it, or restored from a watch that wasn't already on it.

Damn a case for your watch. shock aside. It does make a lot of sense. A much more sense than the case on a phone. You want a rugged watch but don't want to miss out the features one can definitely do this

💥💥 I just recently got the Galaxy watch 4 44mm in July and I don't see me upgrading to another watch smartwatch anytime soon for one the Galaxy watch 4 is going to be supported up until 2026. 2. I looked at the comparisons between the regular Galaxy watch 5 and the Galaxy watch 4 the 5 of course has a slightly better pixel density, slightly bigger battery, and the charging is a little faster. At first I was thinking well maybe I should've waited and got the 5 but unless some huge new type of design comes out I don't see myself upgrading from the Galaxy watch 4 44mm anytime soon. I already got a bunch of accessories and stuff for it like bands cases etc

I still got the 5 pro better tracking and monitoring is important but I agree not much has changed. The pro wrist band is interesting and will take time to get use to but overall if you haven't bought a watch yet get 4th Gen if price is important otherwise go for the 5.

My wife basically received the 5 for free with flip 3 trade in and got to keep her watch4. And the battery life is truly all day. She'd be charging both her flip3 and watch4 by 1:30pm. She's good now.

I have a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic (the one with the wheel) and my experience so far has gone from negative to mostly positive. The hardware is great, no issues, however the firmware needed a lot of updates to be a good experience. It is still tainted with Samsung junk - Samsung's fitness apps, Bixby, Samsung Pay that cannot be removed or hidden. At least Google assistant works now as well as Pay & Fit apps. But Samsung's stuff cannot be removed or disassociated from some actions. That said, the screen is super clear, the watch *is* configurable and the user interface is a cut above some other WearOS based watches. I do use it in the gym or walking around and it's a great motivator for activity. It's just a pity that Samsung have this self-delusion that people want to use their junk apps. They don't. Even if they're installed by default they should allow users to replace them if they want.

The digital rotating bezel is way better than the physical one, much faster and makes the watch look much sleeker

Did you review Galaxy watch 5 LTE or Bluetooth? What's the difference?

I would have upgraded from the 4 to the 5, because the 40mm is a little bit too small for me. So I thought okay, when the new models arrive I'll get a 42mm, which is the perfect size for me. Well... No 42mm anymore. I know I could get the classic in 42mm, but I don't want to buy a device of the 4th generation again. Think the Pixel watch will also only come in 40mm as far as I know...
