I had the same screen issue with both the Fold 3 and 4. Thats why i didnt even bother getting the Fold 5 i just went with the S23 Ultra and im so glad i did.

I have the exact same issue. I dropped my phone and cracked the screen then replaced it as it is my fault. A month later my screen cracked out of the blue just like yours. I took the phone to the repair center and they said that it is due to external factors! This phone is not durable and the repair cost is not worth it, and the authorised repair center will give you the lamest excuses to rule it out of warranty! I bought the phone to use it for work, but unfortunately it is just a rip off.

The reason the hinge, inner screen, battery and frame need to be replaced together isn't because they're glued together or something, it's because it's actually cheaper to do it that way. Samsung's inner folding screens are essentially non removable. Hypothetically they could be taken off, but it would be impossible to do without destroying the lcd. The hinge itself is unserviceable, and so ridiculously complex in it's internal mechanism that even if you did get in there there's no way to really repair it. So for samsung, it's cheaper to simply sell and manufacture these parts assembled together than pay for someone to assemble them (not that you'd be able to really) or to sell them separately. The battery doesn't actually need to be replaced as well, they're fully removable, although the inner screen assemblies usually just come with them. If you wanted you can buy inner screen assemblies without batteries although generally by the time you break your screen it's about time to replace your battery too. Samsung does all of their phones this way with the exception of the s23.

Also, from the pictures, what most likely happened is that you got a crumb of some sort right on the fold. This is samsungs first foldable that truly folds flat, so closing the screen on small hard objects can easily kill your screen.

Not to doubt you but is there a chance someone else in your home dropped it and then put it back? It very clearly looks like an impact not something a pen could do. Reps can vary from place to place but I have to side with them here. Sometimes dirt can get under the screen and poke the screen from the inside but it looks very different. I don't mean to come off saying "user error".

Ugh!! I am so worried about that sort of thing. Like you, I have had several folds, though I began purchasing them with the Z Fold 3. And, like you, I am also thinking about moving on to a new brand. I have had some experience with Samsung also not standing behind their product . If a "pen" cracked your screen, it seems more likely it was their own S Pen, as I can't imagine you all are careless with your phones - not based on what I have seen on your channel. A couple of issues for me, though: not all have an S Pen or comparable stylus, and no others have the Samsung software which is so integrated with the pen, and with my other Samsung items such as the S8+ tablet and my Galaxy Book Pro 360 laptop. But, both my and my girlfriend's Galaxy Books have broken down right at or after the warranty expired. I was told that by the repair places (We don't have many Samsung stores in the US, none where I live, so we take them to other repair shops) that Samsung computers are not well made and the sudden dead computer syndrome we both experienced is common with them. There are other companies out there. Some of my Samsung things are giving me grief. I am not opposed to exploring other options. I look forward to seeing if you guys go that way, and you opinions if you do.

Thank you for your comments. Yes, S Pen is what has been keeping me with Samsung for a foldable phone in the UK. Originally, I moved to Samsung with the note series and followed by the Zfolds. It's a shame that with market competition increasing, Samsung is not thinking about future consumer retention. I'm not surprised with the product issues you guys have faced, as in my experience, I also find devices becoming sluggish over time. Also, competition bringing out alternative options like One Plus Open and Honor magic, Samsung is likely to face intense competition in the coming year. Have you explored any alternative foldable options? Thank you for all your support :)

I have had the same thing with my Z fold 4 ( dead pixel white line on the lower part of the screen), now I have a Z fold 5 and believe it or not I have never folded up till now. I have been using it for a month or so, so lets see what happens.

Hi there thank you for informing. Can I ask when you repaired you fold 5 did you still have the original screen protector on it. When samsung repaired your screen did they put the original screen protector on the new screen. I have had the same issue on my fold 4. I have never used a pen but I have had it over a year. The screen replacement for the inside screen is costing me £540 and most screen damage samsung say its not cover under warranty. Also to have samsung care you have to purchase that within 6 months when the phone came out. Thank you for making the video

Hi there, Sorry to hear about your screen damage. Yes, my Fold5 still had the original screen protector on. Once repaired, it came with a new screen and protector. Just to mention, I had a similar issue with my Fold4 a few months earlier. Also, Fold 4 came with 2 years free Samsung Care Plan (not sure if the same plan package applied outside UK) and as I didn't drop the phone and no visible damage to my phone, Samsung repaired free of charge. Yup, my wife flip 4 auto shutdown after she folded the screen .. I just bought flip 5 for replacement.. after purchase.. only samsung guys says have warranty for 2 years 😂.. so she has two phones now😅 took a week to repair .. now work like a charms .. as for my fold 4.. no issue till now.. maybe.. just maybe i use cover screen a lot.. sometimes the main screen is just for playing games and watching movies with my kids.. Fold 4 spen is safer then new spen no pressure safety.. no springing feel to it.. i suggesting start using fold 4 spen instead fold 5 new spen

I had the z fold 3 started getting some micro tears/cracks in fold traded it in for Motorola thinkphone. Im done with foldables. Battery sucked too on the 3. I did enjoy the 3 but once i started seeing those cracks i got rid of it.

This is a reason why I went to the pixel fold. The galaxy fold hinge doesn't feel right to me the pixel hinge feels alot better. 4 months and no issues

4 months with my Galaxy Z fold 5 and no issues. I looked at the pixel, seems I'd have used the front screen more than even opening the phone. Also the ratios seemed a bit odd. I'm glad I went with Z fold 5.

My advise is dont let z fold stay folded for too long just let it unfolded when you are not using it or sleeping because that what i do with z fold 2 since launch without screen protector

My fold 3 had a hairline crack down the middle. My fold 4 cracked and some stuck pixels formed at the same time. I'm done with foldables since this tech is not ready yet.

Yeah, it's tough to take as these devices are so expensive and cost a huge amount to repair as well. However, I'd find it impossible to go back to a slab phone.

@familycreate Took me a week to get used to the older style (S24 Ultra) again. I'm glad my fold 4 cracked so early, I was thinking of buying one of their new folding tablets, so at least I got burned twice instead of three times 😀

Yeah, until these two experiences, I had no issues with any of my Z Folds. However, this has made me realise how fragile the foldable screens can be. I would say dont worry, just be extra careful. All the best :)

My Z fold 5, just broke down the middle about 2 weeks ago, then I took the phone 2 ubreakifix, and they fixed it. However, after a few days it broke again, and I sent into 2 Samsung for repair.

The guy gets commission when you pay lol the babble that you see is what happens when the screen cracks with use overtime it may form imperfections like that but because it was shape like a babble he used that against you to get you to pay for it they lied again

Hi there, I'm sorry to hear about your Fold 4 issues. Do you have a warranty? You can contact Samsung, and the technicians will guide you through the process. In my case, I contacted Samsung online and booked a face to face appointment with one of the Service Centre stores. You can also post the device to Samsung for repairs. My Fold 4 came with 2 years free Samsung Care package, so do check out if yours came with anything extra as some of the offers from Samsung were region based. I hope this helps. All the best.

So stupid yesterday my phone was in perfect condition. Today I opened it and saw the same issue. After 18 years samsung lost me as a customer. I did pay 2700$

Im not trying to defend Samsung because it's their fault for not mentioning this clealer, but flexible screens are super fragile. If you have some dirt in your pocket, backpack, purse, or literally anywhere where you carry your Fold and something gets under the screen, it might crack (but this case is almost impossible with Fold5, as JerryRig teardown showed). If there's something on the screen when you close it, might crack or kill part of the screen. If you use suction cup on the screen to "lift" it for any reason, you will kill the screen 100% times. Samsung Fold 5's inner screen has self-repairing layer. You can safely use the SPen on it and screen will get back to flat normal in couple minutes. In your case something like a small rock was laying on your Fold when you were closing it or you left your phone open and someone else dropped something on the screen. Anyway, the damage was caused by someone as we can clearly see the impact spot. Which means that either you did that - even unknowingly as phone could be fine for few folds until it cracked from that impact spot - or someone else did and didn't told you.
