The title. I couldn't find this scene on YT, so I decided to upload it myself. Sadly, this option (as well as level 3 shadow spell slot) is only available for Gale Origin, but not for Gale Companion.

This should genuinely just be something that happens in the game normally. They added so much shit to Gale’s origin that could just, be in the game

@@Chestyfriend but in this case Gale’s questline already feels lacking in certain aspects. This isnt an issue for other origins. Gale’s magic absorption isn’t really developed and it’s weird the only place you can use Shadow Weave is the lamp that you barely will use. This solves part of the problem.

Gale is the type of character that could easily commit atrocities in pursuit of some "greater good"

@@ColonelBraggI wouldn't say easily. He may use forms of power that are considered forbidden but he always disapproved of hurting innocents even if it is for a "greater good". For example he approves when you save a goblin in the grove and even tells you a story about how he bought everyone drinks at the tavern to diffuse a conflict. Wyll on the other hand wants to kill the prisoner because goblins are "evil". Also Gale disapproves of Astarion's profane ascension and says that the cost is too much for such power.

Interesting. In my game, Shadowheart was quite furious with Gale for absorbing the Shadow-weave, something about how it had corrupted nature around them. I thought it was odd at the time because it was still before we had even discovered the Gauntlet and she was still very much a Shar fangirl at the time.

While I haven't seen the scene myself, there could also be a religious reason to it; while weave casters _can_ access the Shadow Weave (in 3.5E this was done using the Shadow Weave Magic feat), unless they worship Shar or her ally Vhearaun, the Shadow Weave will 'discourage' them by instantly sapping 2 permanent points of WIS. Unlike Mystra's cheesecloth weave, the Shadow weave didn't have any wild or dead magic zones, and empowers Shar's favored magic schools, so both she and her followers were quite strict about keeping outsiders away from it. That said the Shadow weave disappeared during 4E, and to my knowledge BG3 is the first storyline to reintroduce it, so the rules may have changed.

You need to be Gale origin. You get a permanent extra lvl3 spell slot. If you reject it, you get a powerful Mystra's blessing, but it lasts only until long rest.

I played as Gale to the end and couldn’t find any drawbacks. Even Mystra in Act 3 doesn’t say anything.

@@bengunn9670and isn't that difficult? She repays him in pennies for doing as she asks. Or he can forge his own path and cast "FIREBALL!" an additional time per day. 😁

I’ve yet to play Gale Origin. I can tell this is in the shadow lands, but what corpse is this? The only one that comes to mind is that little raven that starts a combat if you touch it

Gerringothe Thorm (toll collector), but any of the Ketheric cursed relatives (also surgeon and brewer) is suitable.
