A beautiful woman, with a beautiful voice, singing a beautiful song... Mankind can lay claim to no creation, be it art or artifice that can surpass that for natural beauty.

Gail Garnet was a beautiful woman and sure has a beautiful voice. I remember hearing this song around 1989. She seems like the kind of person who could brighten up anyone's day. This song definitely reaches right to my heart

Not many know that Gale wrote this song herself . She came to Canada when she was 11. The song dominated that summer in 1964.

You are correct . Born in New Zealand also. Did bit parts in lots of TV shows and movies which I didn' t know. Love the way she looks at the camera . She is 77 years old now and I hope she is living well. Did a great contribution to the music world with a beautiful timeless song. Hope you are reading this Gale. You deserve any good fortune you have received from this song.

Such a naturally soothing voice. Most songs have the man leaving the woman behind, in this one it’s the opposite. Lucky guy to have Gale Garnett live with you for year.

Gale played a poor girl on the show have gun will travel ( Paladin ) several years before this song. She wore long hair already beautiful. Natural talent in everything she did. Such a great song lives strong today as yesterday.

Great to reflect back to the 60's. Love this song, but recently very intrigued. How did Gale Garnett handle relationships later in life? She wrote this song in her early 20's during a cultural shift, which may have influenced her early perception of relationships. Did she get married and have a family??

This is all why it is best to love one and one only. As long as thoughts of potential lovers fill the minds of those aimed to marry only one love, then the door remains open to the richest ... A mountain of a yacht worth over 600,000,000. Don't question me. Just follow orders from the fatbastard.

A beautiful and bit of a sad song. I remember when it came out. I was about 7 years old! I liked it then and I still do, it brings back alot of good memories! The late Helen Reddy did a good remake of this song, and Dean Martin did a version of this song on one of his LPS in the mid-1960's.
@lypilapa2 жыл бұрын
Indeed, I also had this Dean Martin LP "The Door Is Still Open To My Heart" in the 70's.

Noticed one glitch in the lip sync where she sang "darling" when it should have been "baby" as on the recording. Nevertheless, I'll stick with my original assessment below that: "A beautiful woman, with a beautiful voice, singing a beautiful song... Mankind can lay claim to no creation, be it art or artifice that can surpass that for natural beauty."

The studio prepared a gown that had a 3 wires inserted into the dress. Gale Garnett was blinded by hot water to the eyes and the a chemical to the eyes. If nervous the wire to hang onto was just at the fingertips.

I've only recently discovered Gale Garnett, and there is something mesmorising about her; the way she looks at the camera. I do like the other versions of this song on youtube though. Her lip-syncing on this is quite poor with blatent mistakes.

Doesn't matter. Makes the producer's job easier for sure. But I expect Gail was actually singing along with the recorded music as she was giving her performance. That doesn't detract from the beauty on display at all for me.
