After cleaning out an illegal ground sluice left behind by the old timers. I ended up with a bunch of material that confused me, it was yellow, heavy like gold, washed out with the gold, but something did not look right. Id did not have the shine of gold, it was dull and coated in something. So in this video I test this substance in many ways to determine if it was actually gold or something else altogether.

It was a story or rather a report, that has started a GOLD RUSH., therefore, do not be a skeptic about stories of finding treasures or gold. For many years, many have risked -and lost - their lives chasing reports of the lost treasure in the Superstition Mountains, or any other famed treasure - they just may be right!

It looks to me like the lead was an intrusive deposit in a quartz amalgamate. Like the gold your finding it was broken free from hydro dynamics basically a lead/ silver deposit. So you not only have gold in them thar hills. Ya got lead too! The colorization did come from the sluice, the iron oxides leaching out during run off and the exposure to oxygen when the levels dropped would definitely cause colorization like that. As for the gold, two possible answers, inclusive in the deposit or it was hammered into the lead by the water forcing small rocks to force it into the lead. No matter what you had an opportunity to experiment with metals deposited together then changed by the environment and elements. That's always cool! Thanks for not only taking us on an AU candy hunt but posing an interesting question. Perhaps next time try to smelt for silver and see what happens. The gold will drop out in either case but with the lower temperatures the separation will retain the base metals in their weights what a button that would be! Thanks Dan!👍⛏️

Seems to me that the yellow lead was exactly that, 'yellow lead' otherwise known as massicot, a specific crystalline structure of lead(II) oxide. There seemed to be all sorts of different lead oxides in there, all naturally occurring but quite possibly aided by the addition of the sluice!

Dan, its it possible there you've got some amounts of Uranium ore - "Yellow Cake" - the color. the weight, etc seems possible. SC
@aSinisterKiid
@aSinisterKiid 2 жыл бұрын
You won't typically find "yellow cake" out naturally on the planet. That form of Uranium is typically only created during an intermediary step in processing uranium ore. Yellowcake concentrates are prepared by various extraction and refining methods, depending on the types of ores. Typically, yellowcakes are obtained through the milling and chemical processing of uranium ore forming a coarse powder. And although uranium is one of the densest metals on Earth, yellowcake is relatively light, with a density approximately that of elemental sulfur. So in that incredibly rare chance that you ever did come across a natural yellowcake formation, you wouldn't find it through panning for gold because it would wash out.

Hi Dan, been watching your vids for a while now. Great content, love the scenic beauty of your claims. I live down here in the Lower Mainland and always dreamt to explore and prospect, so I live vicariously through you. Keep up the good work and here's hoping you find the motherlode one day. Cheers

That was interesting. To bad it wasn't gold. Still I very much enjoyed the process you used to determine the material's content.

Ohhhh British Columbia.....following the mad Flooding, from Ontario, very much hoping you and your family are safe, and that you were nowhere near the Fraser River yesterday......so very much enjoy your excellent, informative, entertaining programming for years now. Beautiful to see your side of the country......Ontario is Escarpment Country....not much panning ;]...some good rockhounding though..... Be safe, hoping your damage is minimal. Good thing you are very capable ;]
