cried reading this... been to the ER 4 times in 10 days with absolutely excruciating attacks and painkillers have not worked (not even morphine helped enough for me to be able to stand still) i literally cannot eat ANYTHING now so im starving and im nauseous, weak and tired + caught a cold and have a fever :( so im suffering and dont know when i'll get the surgery yet but im so scared of that too ahhh. The ER wouldnt do emergency surgery because it's not inflamed and there are no 'complications' 🥲 finally met a doctor at my assigned healthcare center today that is sending a referral to a specialist hospital for surgery so now i just have to wait... hopefully not for long...

I’ve never had digestive issues, never had gallbladder attacks, none of these issues run in my family. One day I ate at hooters and got the worst food poisoning I’ve ever had in my 25 years of life...I ended up with Salmonella and due to that, 8 months later I had to have this done. When they went in, my gallbladder was shriveled up like a raisin. They said it was operating at 0% when they did my HIDA scan.... guys I went from operating just fine to a dead gallbladder. We need to be more cautious of the stuff we eat 100%. I’ll never trust anyone fully to cook my food unless I see them prepare it and can monitor the temperatures at which it’s cooking. I’ll also never eat dairy or gluten or processed junk or sugar again lol half because it makes me feel sick to my stomach now and half because I don’t ever want my body to be as compromised as it was when it overloaded my gallbladder. I’m only eating healthy things so that if I get sick like that ever again then my body will be able to bounce back and fight it off. We only have one body and so many organs guys so please be careful with them.

Kinda ironic that the run time of this video and the information it contains is about ten times more info than the surgeon who did my surgery shared with me. Would have felt a lot more confident knowing why the surgery was being done if the whole process didn't feel so rushed. This was really great.

Having surgery in the morning. Say a prayer 🙏❤️.Update...had surgery yesterday morning around 8:00 am and was home by 11:30 am. They put a patch behind my ear because I always vomit after anesthesia. It worked until about 8:30 last night and I vomited quite a bit. Also had a splitting headache until this morning. So far today I’ve only had 1 pain pill. Will take another at bedtime to help with sleep. My stomach feels very bloated today. I didn’t have any shoulder pain like I’ve read others had post surgery. The four incisions are pretty sore today which is to be expected. Thanks Dr for this video. It gave me a clear idea of what happens with the surgery.

@@rebekahritz6354 Nah don’t be! There’s nothing much to it really. Like my previous comment mine got removed but nothing has really changed, I barely if at all changed my diet and I’m perfectly fine! You will however be more prone to having diarrhea since the bile will just be leaking into your intestines without a gallbladder to store it. I have 4 small scars on my belly because they did the laparoscopic procedure. Rarely they’ll have to straight up cut you open. I’m sure you’ll be fine!

Just came across this whilst recouperating from gallbladder removal in the UK. I am the sixth female in my direct family who has had this operation. Trying to sleep is my biggest problem and getting out of bed is very painful. Also the pain in the shoulder the next day was quite something, and I was glad that I knew about that or I would have worried. Day 4 today and I'm definitely on the mend. We are so lucky that surgeons can operate on us with such skill.

Interestingly, that shoulder pain is a referred pain from the liver / abdomen area, the shoulder itself is actually fine, it's a bunch of nerves in the abdomen firing that cause it. Had it in both shoulders once on another op.

Male 31 here. Had mine out 3 days ago. So far feel sore in abdominal area both near incisions and internally(but much better since day 1). Will update you all in 10 days... Ok so it’s 3 weeks post surgery. Wounds have healed, but obviously still have the marks and still sensitive to touch.. On top I feel fine, but still a bit of soreness and tenderness under the skin where the incisions were made. Other then that I am able to eat most things and thankfully do not feel any digestive discomfort.. Will keep you all posted at the 8-10 week mark. Ok so it’s been a good 5 months post surgery. I believe the surgery was a success and I have recovered. I can eat anything. I no longer feel bloated after eating oily/fatty foods or any food for that matter. I never realised the stones were the reason for so many discomforts after eating or in general (but mainly after eating) such as bloating, pain and discomfort.

No lab abnormalities whatsoever. I had chronic r subscapular pain, and RUQ and R side discomfort that was constant. I am home now and all my preoperative symptoms are gone. Suffering about 8 years. I'd get the pain in my right shoulder blade and feel sick. So I'd take to the bed, sleep it off and wake up fine. That was good for 7 years until last year! I got an attack and the pain didn't go away! I went to hospital and was sent home with antibiotics and painkillers. But by the weekend I was vomiting and not keeping anything down, not even water. So I was admitted to hospital. Then I had an ERCP and suffered internal bleeding from that and nearly died. I lost 2lts of blood and didn't know it until I collapsed at home. I got a transfusion and all is good now. So I was nervous when I got the call to come in to have it removed 2 days ago (2nd March 2021) on my birthday too! Now I understand why the incision near my belly button hurts the most. Thanks for the video. I vaguely remember my surgeon saying it was a success but I must have been enjoying the anesthetic too much. I was meant to be a day case but they couldn't wake me enough to go home safely, so I had to stay over for 1 night. 2 days now after the surgery and so far so good. My bellybutton incision feels like a bad bruise, but I've no pain in the other incisions. I'm also coughing up a little phlegm and have a sore throat and I'm guessing that's from the breathing tube.

Of all the KZfaq videos on this topic, this was the most informative. I had gallbladder surgery recently and all went fine. I was looking for post op diet info when I came across this video. Mine was done laparoscopically and was in and out the same morning. this was my third scope outpatient procedure I've had over the past 20 years. The previous procedures were for sport injuries. For all suffering pain from gallstones don't put off the recommended surgery. You will be glad you had it done.

jgolfer49 Hey there! Thanks for sharing! I have to have this procedure as well. How much pain did you have after surgery? Also, did you find a good post-op diet?
@jgolfer49
@jgolfer49 4 жыл бұрын
Post op went like clockwork. No internal pain from having an internal organ removed. Just some manageable pain on a couple of incision points. Belly button incision was bit sore. Be careful not to reach or stretch too far or you'll definitely feel it. Took two Tylenol twice a day for first couple of days. Didn't need any prescription meds. When I got home just had soup and crackers first day and pretty much sandwiches and salads the first couple of days. I enjoy chicken so had plenty of chicken. It's been 10 days since surgery and haven't had any craving for red meat so that's a good thing. One of the side effects they said may occur would be diarrhea but have not experienced that.pretty much normal bowel movements so far. Hope this helps and good luck.

I’m literally in the hospital ward right now with this surgery proposed. You explained it so much better. Visual aid really helps. I understand why they do it but doctors, please, when asking the patient if they have any questions….. it’s difficult to know what to ask if you lack the knowledge of what to ask and you don’t want to hold a doctor up throwing questions like darts hoping you ask the right question. Have some common questions to suggest.

I just had emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder. Last year, my wife had a planned surgery to remove her endangered gallbladder. I was in the hospital recovering for a week. Lost 30 lbs, and still have a tube draining material from my insides. My wife had a day surgery. Went home that afternoon. Recovered quickly. Moral, treat the problem before the problem treats you.

Why would your wife have her gallbladder removed if it didn’t need removal?
@nomibe2911
@nomibe2911 4 жыл бұрын
@@tonysoprano9370 If you read what he said he said his wife planned the surgery to remove the endangered gallbladder and he had to have emergency surgery which means he was in excruciating pain. Plenty of people have minor pains that are tolerable that don't require emergency surgery and therefore they can plan to have that surgery later down the line. You don't have to be in excruciating pain for a doctor to recommend that you have your gallbladder removed. They can see that you have gall stones and say you may not feel anything now but later on you will feel pain and will need surgery.

This really is a quite informative video ! I got my GallBladder removed just three days ago, I was back to my home within 24 hours of the surgery. Right now, I am in self Isolation. I also took shower, mopped the floor, did dishes, did the laundry ON MY OWN the very next day of the surgery. why I am writing this is don't think TOO much about the post-op life if you don't have anyone by your side, you just have to be a bit careful about the diet for a couple of days, in my case I have been advised to be on a soft diet for five days. I resumed working from home after three days of my surgery. I am feeling quite normal as I was before except the thing I would feel weakness and drowsiness sometimes. Go and get the damn thing removed if you've been diagnosed with the GallStones! You will eventually become accustomed to a healthy diet, I have seen my mom getting used to that.

I was so thankful to have finally found a doctor who would listen to me. I've been suffering with this for years and being rushed to the ER so many times and just brushed out because I don't have insurance. I just recently moved to South Carolina and the ER here did my surgery after I had been rushed in twice in one day for an attack that wouldn't stop. I was in the worst pain I'd ever felt and screaming and crying. They got my pain under control and did the surgery the next day.

I was twenty , very slim, and had only had a couple attacks before the last one. They sent me home from emergency three times before getting a specialist and ultrasound to find what was going on and was sent up for emergency surgery. I was throwing up lots of bile, in horrid pain, it took days to recover in the hospital . They had to put a drain in to clean everything out. Doctor told me it could have killed me if I’d gone much longer. Emergency people thought I was too young and too thin to have gallbladder issues and thought I just wanted drugs.

I had my gallbladder taken out 2 years ago. Mine was outpatient. While I was in surgery, they found out mine was so badly infected that it came apart while they were pulling it out. So they had to widen my belly-button incision to get it out fully. I was given oral antibiotics, and sent home a couple hours later. I apparently had an extra connection to my gallbladder, so my pain was in a different spot than normal. For that reason, doctors didn't listen to me, for almost 8 years, when I said I was in pain. I will forever be grateful to that Nurse Practitioner for actually listening to me! And taking me seriously!

I cannot phrase the doctor enough, she did a superb job. Minimal incisions and today the pain is very minimal. Today Day 2 - I have been able to walk around and have been eating rice porridge (my wife spoils me lol) and non-salt crackers. I am still sleeping almost upright with 3 pillows because laying down flat still hurts. Loved reading the comments here and enjoyed sharing my experience with you all.
