As an arcade field engineer, we had a standard plastic button nut spinner in our kits. For air bubbles in artwork, we made multi pin holes using just a common small needle. Thanks for the video, enjoyed every minute 😁

Good call on the overlap. Personally I like to trim it up to the t-molding slot with an exact-o-knife. Then t-molding locks it down and looks great. Same with the side-art.

Had a similar thing happen to us with Galloping Ghost reproductions. We bought a Darius marquee and they never mentioned that the speaker grill holes were not precut. We had to cut them ourselves

Great job Charlie. I watched the whole thing. I’m actually glad this isn’t one of the same 5 games that gets restored every time. How many times can you see a galaga restore or a donkey Kong restore? It gets old really quick. Thanks for tackling a “newer”game

Hello, I use an iron on low heat (no steam, artwork facing down) to remove creases from the kids precious manga posters - would that be a solution for the screen bezel? I don't even own a arcade machine but love your channel. Thank you for the great uploads!

Thanks for watching and for the kind words! I think an iron could work if this was a single layer of material. Unfortunately, this bezel looks like it was printed on vinyl and then mounted on a thin piece of paperboard, and the wrinkle is only in the artwork layer - not the backing layer. 😕

Looks great! Good job! I'm assuming it's your camera because when you first revealed the side art the colors looked WAY off but at the end the colors looked right. I can't believe they sent you that bezel like that!

The dull part of the marquee? I think that’s the adhesive they used to mount the translite to the plexi.

Hi Charlie! I was wondering ('cuz I often wonder about odd things), If you find yourself in the position of having to apply vinyl sheeting to another cabinet, do you see any advantage to applying a sort burst of a heat gun (on a low setting) to help eliminate the curl from the material having been initially rolled? I would think that it would help the material to lay flat... Not so much an issue today, as you mentioned it was fairly warm in the garage...

Great question, Dave! In this case, the vinyl wrap was super high-quality and unrolled perfectly flat out of the tube. In other circumstances, I’d be wary of using heat to uncurl stuff like that for risk of damaging it. I usually just lay it flat for a day or two with some heavy books on the ends. this turned out nice , but did you give any thought to priming and laying down a mat black paint on it? I think outcome would look the same and half the labour, especially if you are putting side art over top

Thanks! Yes I considered painting, but I was aiming for oRiGiNaLiTy with the vinyl, but the repro side art ultimately up-ended my plan! 😂

Great job with this restoration, Charlie. Unfortunately, i also had a disappointing experience with Galloping Ghost Reproductions. They were the only outfit that I found still doing Dragon's Lair artwork. The sizing, detail, and color matching all fell short. I appreciate what they're trying to do, but the quality just isn't there.

I think it looks great, it’s unfortunate that you ordered all of that vinyl when you didn’t need as much. I’m sure you’ve already contacted Galloping Ghost regarding that discrepancy and the issues with the marquee and bezel.
