Band BIO:
Galneryus is a Japanese power metal band, formed in Osaka in 2001 by Syu and Yama-B. Originally the only official members, the two utilized several support musicians until Tsui, Yuhki, and Jun-ichi officially joined for the release of their debut album in 2003. Yama-B left the group in 2008 citing musical differences, and Yu-To, who replaced Tsui in 2006, left the following year. Galneryus recruited Sho on vocals and Taka on bass, and released the album Resurrection in 2010. Jun-ichi left in 2016, and the following year the band released their highest-charting studio album, Ultimate Sacrifice, which reached number 13. In 2017.
FUN FACTS about band:
- Loudwire named Galneryus one of the 10 Best Japanese Metal Bands
- In 2011, their song "Destiny" was used in the music video games GuitarFreaks XG2: Groove on Live and DrumMania XG2: Groove on Live. Also, their song "New Legend" was used in GuitarFreaks XG3 and DrumMania XG3
- Syu has said that while they are very much influenced by European music, they mix it with the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi to create emotional music

CURIOUS FACT: "Angel of salvation" is a song that originally lasts 14 minutes, generally in instrumental and lyrics is in charge of its guitarist, Syu who is the leader of the band. This song was based on P. Tchaikovsky's piece, "Violin Concerto in D Major, Op.35 final movement" and this may be due to Syu being influenced by guitarists like Yngwie Malmsteen and bands like X Japan, Helloween , Stratovarius and Sonata Arctica, it also has classical music influences, such as Vivaldi and Paganini. Another very curious fact is the opera voices that are heard in the background in some choirs, they are interpreted by none other than Akane Liv from the band Liv Moon, with whom Syu has collaborated live ("Alone" - Heart cover with Takayoshi Ohmura) , and vice versa in Syu's solo albums (Chaos Reality - Syu), by the way, Syu is vocalist and guitarist in another project called "Spinalcord" formerly called "Aushvitz" Greetings from Chile!!🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱

He is not the Top guitaris in the world in terms of technique and speed. He is VERY GOOD. He is extraordinary. Don't misunderstand. But he is not John Petrucci or Timo Tolkki or Yngwie Malmsteen Level. As a proof he changed the solo of Stratovarius "Against the Wind." Check it on YT. Yet, Syu is very good at making his solo sounds so emotional. Like you are immersed in it. I am not guitar legend. But I would like to humbly say that I am above average and can do fast solos as well. Saying it as credential on making the judgement.

@@user-kf5ty3rb8jn If you know guitar techniques, you can judge what techniques and at what difficulty level it is played in. Syu's techique and difficulty level is not at the same level as the guitarists I mention above. Logically, if someone cannlift 100 kg, he logically can lift 75 kg. As an evidence that Syu's level is not as high as Timo Tolki for example, Galneryus did cover Against the Wind and Black Diamond song pf Stratovarius, and Syu made simplet Solo. Ask your friend who is very good at guitar, and he can judge Syu's level. His, although extraordinary not at the level of John Petrucci, Timo Tolkki etc. National not International level.

@@zulqarnainabdullah5891 But Syu has improved a lot across the years, you should check out "wherever you are" live from galneryus. In that performance Syu demonstrates he´s a worldclass level guitarrist, and surely one of the best guitar players alive.

This church is the same church as Lovebites " Glory to the World ". The vocalist is often called " Mr. vocal " ...he is a perfect vocalist. The guitar player is one of the best guitarists in Japan ,or maybe no 1. The keyboardist is clearly the best keyboardist in Japan . So they are a super band along with Unlucky Morpheus ,in my opinion.

@@dicodec That Church is often referred to as the 'Ubiquitous Japanese Church' and was also used in the Aldious 'Dominator' video and many other Japanese metal videos.. Apparently, it's not really a church but a wedding chapel. There's a picture of the outside. It is literally in a business district surrounded by high rises.

Yes! So glad you guys were able to get around to this! I knew you'd be impressed by Syu! He's my favorite guitarist and arguably the best in the world right now. His technical ability is through the roof and he puts so much feeling in his playing at the same time. Masatoshi Ono is a fantastic vocalist as well. A bit of a fun fact Galneryus's lead singer Ono Masatoshi-san is already an established singer back in the '90s probably his big hit was the song "You're the only" theme from the 1992 Jdrama entitled "Anything For You" which he re-recorded when he joined Galneryus in 2009. And the band's guitarist Syu-san is also the guitarist for Animetal fronted by Anthem's former lead singer Sakamoto Eizo-san.

Great reaction! All hail the guitar gods! 🔥 Galneryus are so amazing! I am so firmly in the neoclassical, speed metal camp that it’s ridiculous. Grew up playing classical music and got into metal in high school in the 80s. Massive fan of Malmsteen! Been into JRock for a couple years now and I’d put Syu and Hizaki & Teru (Versailles/Jupiter) up against ANYBODY. Phenomenal shredders but with a musical sense and class that is hard to come by. 🔥🎸

Now that you had a taste of Galneryus, try to listen on your own time the 15 minute album version as the one on the music video is shortened. Syu is doing a ton more freaky solo stuff in the the album version. 🙂 Or you can go watch the live one.

I've been waiting for this ;_; Galneryus is such an incredible band (peak japanese power metal). You missed out on essentially half of the song with the MV version tho (: If you're still into Unlucky Morpheus, there's a collaboration between Syu (Galneryus' guitarist) and Fuki, which is pretty amazing. Also, make sure to check out some of Galneryus' older songs. Their previous singer Yama-B was interesting too (you'll know when you hear it) and I think earlier Syu was more experimental with his sound.

Finally other people in el paso have discovered galneryus. I'm glad you enjoyed this track. I've been a fan of them since Advance to the Fall album back in 2005 and they never have disappointed.

That first solo speaks to my soul in a way that no other guitar solo I have ever heard can match. Probably the most Zen I feel in my life is listening to that solo. Kind of along the same lines as your comment about the song being like the gospel for the church of music. So fantastic.

Nice, Pika-Syu is one of best of the best shredders from Japan, he's god level! You should check out Syu with Fuki - [Reason] MV.. My other favorites from Galneryus are Alsatia(Leda of Kami is here) and The Followers(Fumiya is the Drummer).

Great Videos this is my first time in the channel and i want to say i love galneryus one of my favorites bands of metal. if you like the same style of metal i recommend the band "Rata Blanca" from argentina. recomiendo el tema "la leyenda del hada y el mago" (the legend of the fairy and the wizard) the song if from 1992 but i recomend search for a live performance. you will love it. they also have a awesome live show with glenn hughes playing songs of deep purple like burn, mistreaded, stormbringer and keep on moving.

The great reaction to one of the best guitarist, Syu and yes he makes it sing. Wait till you hear him play the masters on it!!!!! This is a great band and if you want to be totally blown away try the LIVE version where Syu gets to go off several times, not sure you won't be looking for face and brains on the floor after that. Another J/Metal discovery boys, the rabbit hole is deep and there is constant new talent being pumped into it, take it from someone who has been in it for years there is no way out but why would you want to get out with level of musicianship!!!
