Se al cielo miro @ 1:20 is THE bomb here. Personally, I love Roberta Mameli’s rendition. Had to hear this one, though.❤

..habla un tontito Latino.....Romper esquemas de tanta parafernalia sinfónica, que aveces aburren (que no es este el caso) va bien. Y este detalle de la falda escocesa que me inoculado a verlos a estos Maestros de la Música. Saludos ecuatorianizados.

Why they dont know their arias, why is this lute so long, why conductor is a pianist as well , why this hall is so small

1.) Because it's hardly worth memorizing a part you only get to sing on one, two, five, ten occasions in your life. 2.) Because it's a theorbo (and it looks cool and every baroque orchestra wants one, because its neck sticking out of the pit signals "authenticity", even in music where it wasn't actually used..) 3.) Because he CAN play the harpsichord, because that's how it would have been done back then, too, and because it's one expense less. 4.) Because that fits the size of the ensemble and you try filling a bigger hall with an obscure gallant sacred operatic oratorio.
