Just ran a quick test to compare top speeds with and without a hydrofoil. We were totally surprised at what we found!

Heath, I’m so glad you are keeping G boats alive and putting new life into them. I have always been a huge fan. When the day finally comes for me to purchase a new bass boat it will definitely be a Gambler and I’ll be calling you!

Thanks Thomas! I know we're super excited! Can't wait to building yours for you!

Nice video. How do you buy a Gambler? It’s basically factory direct now? Thanks

I have never thought of the foils as adding or detracting top end speed. Ideally the cav plate should be high enough out of the water that it really doesn't matter over say 60MPH. But how did the foil effect the holeshot? That would be my biggest question.

The best hole shot set up was the outboard all the way up on the hydraulic JP, trim tabs down a little more than halfway. A soon as the bow breaks over lower the jackplate to 3 or 4 on a Bobs and trim tabs up all the way. It takes some practice to get the timing down and smooth but it's great.

So was the chine walk more noticeable without the foil ?
@GamblerBassBoats3 жыл бұрын
Zero impact on chine walk in this case. I've never heard of the foils impacting chine walk, but if it's catching more spray or something on one side of the boat I guess it could be possible. Again, zero impact on chine walk on this boat.

so top speed was the same with or without the foil and no blocks.. so what's the verdict? run the foil or not?
@GamblerBassBoats2 жыл бұрын
The top speed with the foil and no blocks was the exact same as with no foil at all. Verdict on this setup was run the foil with no backing blocks on it.

you found 1 mph? but what ride did you loose ?
@GamblerBassBoats2 жыл бұрын
If you leave the motor at normal running heights it won't have any impact on the ride. However, if you lower the motor using the hydraulic jack plate so that the foil is closer to the water it will drastically improve the rough water stability fore to aft. When you hit a big wave and the bow starts to go up it naturally is shoving the motor down into the water. When it does the foil will touch down on the water and stop the bow rise forcing the boat to stay nice and level.

I’m really surprised that thing will go 80 with a stock 250....
@thomasdamiano82602 жыл бұрын
Thinking maybe 70 on a good day
@GamblerBassBoats2 жыл бұрын
@@thomasdamiano8260 83 on a good day. 80 on any day at our current elevation. You may lose 1 or 2 mph at higher elevations.
