Interesting take by Danny on advertising on kids football shirts. Always thought the removal of sponsorship on kids shirts was a positive but he's right that it draws attention to the sponsor because of the difference in the kids and adults shirts. The only viable solution is to remove these un-child friendly ads from all kits. Personally I'd also like to see casino games taken offline and only available in bricks and mortar casinos. A world where you can do a months wages playing roulette on your phone whilst sat in a toilet cubicle at work is absurd.

I agree R.E. football sponsors kids/adult shirts. Interesting take on the casino games being taken offline. Sorry to get on my soapbox, but have you come across the current Gambling Act Review Survey? Could always let them know your views....

To be quite honest, banning advertising wouldn't change anything now. The industry is well and truly established. Like anything in life, it's about taking responsibility. Unless you change yourself, your addictions will continue, regardless of what happens elsewhere. We can't have it all ways, we can't have freedoms, diversity, etc, if we insist on banning everything.

Interesting viewpoint - appreciate your comment. I tend to disagree though. Yes, the industry is well established. But things can change. The tobacco industry were previously allowed to advertised, and now they're not. I see it being the same with gambling. Maybe one day we'll look back and think 'how did we allow the promotion'. It's dangerous and addictive. Let's not promote that. Certainly not to children.

@@THEINVISIBLEADDICTION Yet, adults and children still smoke. The market has been created. We need to place emphasis on gaining an understanding of the addiction, individuals need to stop blaming collectives. Opportunities are always going to be there, wasting resources on trying to prevent the inevitable is unproductive. Unless gambling gets banned, which it won't, the temptation will remain, as the product remains. The time, money, energy, can be better used on learning responsibility, education on addiction, and addressing the reasons why we gamble. Advertising does indeed try to normalise harmful products, but it's about having the mindset to see through the promotion. When does cancelling everything end? Ban this, ban that, I'm sure the guest of your podcast would understand the dangers of this behaviour, as it becomes tyrannical and leads to the oppresions of past history. Don't give your responsibility to other's, as once the situation changes you are then left defenceless. Build your own mechanisms, that remain impenetrable despite the environment.
