Increasing velocity and shortening arrival time isn’t the hard part in all this, the hard part about that is slowing down upon arrival with engines like that. Only thing that comes to mind is reaching somewhere close to but not too close to the edge of Mars’ SOI, and engaging the engine for a long duration locking in the orbit itself then lowering it from there…but even then if it isn’t enough change in velocity to lock in a safe orbit, that could be a bad scenario. Would also be the case if there isn’t enough fuel for that kind of burn time, you also need ISRU or some others way to refuel, a proper vessel to take down to the surface from there, etc. No doubt we can make it there eventually though, something like this would be fantastic for transporting cargo and personnel to and from other vessels, namingly stations, in orbit of destinations, provided it is possible to make the rendezvous happen with that kind of engine upon arrival.

That’s almost exactly what I wanted to write. The Heugen transfer is the best and most economic way to get to Mars. Everything else needs lots more power for the acceleration and deceleration. Speed isn’t everything. Delta V is the most important thing in space.

My first thought also. Rocket malfunctions on the deceleration phase and astronauts are screwed.

A VISION based propulsion system? VISION based? I guess all the astronauts have to have better than 20/20, eh?

I think the narrator actually said, and the writer probably meant, "fission," but the subtitles went for the more common word.

Knows how old some did not scientist not a lot yes is more efficient and more and more flush if it what and you do have a problem they have them. I don’t have double pick up that high floss. Low deficiency in nuclear and color is good if you have high foot and high efficiency.

DANGER WILL ROBINSON ! CLICK BAIT AHEAD ! The big problem with this and every other propulsion method is that they are all rockets of one kind or another that require ENOURMOUS AMOUNTS OF FUEL OR PROPELLANT reaction mass to produce thrust.
