Part and parcel of crappy product development, particularly outside of games. Bad project managers make excuses for why it is ok to ship bad software and fight dev team leads, solution architects, test leads and deployment staff to ship trash before it is ready, and they get away with it because executives care about hitting deadlines and PMs deal in things execs directly care about (money, time). Costs pass from development to support teams and they get a raw deal as they're forced to maintain all that crap. Meanwhile codebases become snarled messes and PMs perpetuate the lie that it's not possible to write excellent code that can stand the test of time. Software is expensive and takes time and can't be rushed. Them's the breaks.

It will always happen. Sometimes a bug can be found and seen in gameplay but hard to track down exactly where the bug is happening in your source and even if you find it too hard to fix because certain fixes can mess with other lines of code and make more of a problem that can't be fixed before a game is to go gold. So if it isn't game breaking then yeah, it's ignored. It will always happen. It's why you have exploits and glitches that people use for challenge or speed runs in games.

And this was after when 60% done, the western team were made change game engine. So it was a buggy mess with nonsensical seemingly lore related stuff having no bearing on story while an indecipherable piece of garbage was used as story. Now realise I could have described any sonic game, and if I didn't mention the setbacks it would have sounded good. That's the thing with Sega. They spend more time tripping over themselves and making dumb and pointless decisions. There is a series called "wha happun" and all the sonic episodes have the same terrible production threads. I usually question alot of their stories, but honestly based on what is known about Sega, this honestly sounds true. It would also not surprise me if maybe Sonic Team staff has a huge turnover rate which make explain a whole lot of issues, such as seemingly never gaining experience.

In his defense this time, it's really not forgivable to force someone to have to pick and choose a version of your game that's actually playable by more than just "technical definition", which sounds like was Sega's goal for the PS2 version. Playable by definition only.

If you have to tell your testers to not submit a bug if it doesn't break the game entirely, only mildly, that's a sign you're doing something wrong. Who was the bozo who made that decision? They likely are the cause of many Sonic games being the disaster pit they are

@dankwaifu20932 жыл бұрын
@@zestytriss5282 I honestly don't think Arin actually hates Sonic, he doesn't care enough to hate it. Yeah, he gets frustrated playing Sonic games (a frustration he kinda unnecessarily brings upon himself), but it's all one big gag to him. To Arin, the franchise is just a big joke, and he finds it the most entertaining to show off how bad things are. That's why he isn't interested in playing the "good ones" like Colors and Generations, and seems to actively hunt down the worst versions of other games. He likes and has a respect for the classics and Mania, but that really doesn't extend to the rest of the series.
