Yeah, over here in Portugal we had a similar situation on our version of the show. Basically this really nice, shy kid went to the first audition and sang his piece, but instead of focusing on his song, the show's editors just focused on his ears, which happened to be kinda big, and edited it so that his ears got enlarged like Dumbo. Poor kid was destroyed after the show aired and they ended up getting in a lot trouble over that.

I'm going to assume you're referring to Zoe Alexander, which if you are...well, the situation isn't quite as cut and dry (albeit I've not seen her explanation video). For those not sure what I'm talking about, Zoe Alexander was a Pink tribute artist who auditioned in maybe 2012 (I know this was during the time that Simon Cowell wasn't on the judging panel with Gary Barlow taking the role of "Mr Nasty")? Now, Zoe claimed (as far I know) that she turned up and was told by production she had to do a Pink song and dress up in her costume, went before the judges and was criticized for being too much like Pink (note that "humiliated" seems like far too harsh a term for the judges basically saying "you're good, but too much like Pink. Come back when you've found out your own identity. They don't make fun of her in anyway on the broadcast although maybe it was cut out). She then is shown throwing a tantrum and throwing cameras around. She and her father would later make a complaint to Ofcom about their treatment on the show including such bizarre complaints as her dad claiming that X-factor had "digitally altered his fingers to look like penises". X-factor claimed that while they had *suggested* that she perform a Pink song, it was because acts mess up by picking songs they're not as well versed in and that picking a familiar song would allow her to put her best foot forward. They said that they never *forced* her to sing Pink or that she had to dress up as Pink, plus even if they had it was still not acceptable to throw around equipment and threaten staff. Ofcom investigated, and basically sided with X-factor saying that "in Ofcom's view the programme showed a slightly edited, but accurate, version of what happened" and that "ITV said that CGI effects and auto-tuning were not used in the editing of the programme and that none of the allegations of 'manipulation' of the images and sound recorded during the audition and its aftermath had any basis in reality. For example, the bizarre suggestion that Mr Smith's finger was altered to resemble a penis is without foundation."

Oh they absolutely did. They full on didn’t want to admit that arin was only there because fans voted him onto the show and was bringing them views and basically got petty once arin practically said it to their face. People kept dragging Ross into it and he told people he didnt want to be involved. Ross moved in with another woman not much later. Jareds wife was only angry about it because she forbade Jared specifically from dating Holly even though they were both allowed to date other people because their marriage was in the toilet. Jared was almost cancelled because he was hooking up with fans online and wasnt verifying their ages in any way. Jareds wife was aware of this and had helped build and maintain the community where they both interacted with fans.
