I sport the Dunlop’s. What they lack in comfort they make up for with durability. Gotta get the bama socks for the days that are -20 and beyond.

@@yeahgocoop does merino wool work up there? And what's your humidity like in the winter?
@yeahgocoop
@yeahgocoop Жыл бұрын
@@HOLDFASTBEAR Merino wool is good. The humidity, if there is a lot of water vapor in the air, the humidity will be high. The higher the humidity, the wetter it feels outside.
@HOLDFASTBEAR
@HOLDFASTBEAR Жыл бұрын
@@yeahgocoop I've used merino wool socks and touqes in Colorado with very little humidity and it was perfect but it just got cold in Houston Texas finally, today is 62% humidity for instance and sweating outside in cotton layers gets really cold really fast, I obviously don't need bama socks here but I saw they're a blend of cotton acrylic and flannel, and thought maybe merino wool wasn't that good in higher humidity. I grew up in Ontario and used to sweat alot in the winter there too.
@yeahgocoop
@yeahgocoop Жыл бұрын
@@HOLDFASTBEAR tough to beat merino for moisture wicking. Probably need a thinner base layer with another layer of merino over that. I like 1/4 zip tops for when I start to sweat. What I don’t like about 1/4 zips is they all have a collar. And I don’t like when I have too many layers on the neck. A 1/4 zip crewneck would be awesome. Maybe frostbite should get on that….

When I was younger a 50” northern was common to catch every couple years,now they are pretty rare. Seen a 53.5” once that was fat as a pig, estimated weight probably 45 lbs, caught by a fellow guide when we were exploring new territory. It seemed that one bay was full of monster 50”ers feeding on small bass, as we had 3 trophies on that day.

@@yeahgocoop Northwestern Ontario That area we found still has 50” trophies swimming around to this day, in mid June they seem to feed there yearly. Sweet spot. They are never targeted there, and swim freely . See the odd walleye fisherman there, but you need large bait to catch them big ones.
