Daenerys has some simple, yet striking rope braids going on in Season 4 of Game of Thrones. Here's a quick, easy hair tutorial to teach you how to do them!
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Hair Length: at least shoulder length
Materials: two small elastics
Skills needed: French rope braid
Time cost: 5-15 minutes
Ideal hairtype: any

I can't wait for my hair to grow back out long enough for me to try this style! Rope braids were the only braids I managed to learn relatively well on my nipple length hair. I bet this would look epic with a fishtail braid in the back. I think that will be the next braid type I will learn how to do. That and three strand twists. I bet those are fun.

The way to get waves if you don't have them naturally is to make curls and then brush them out. Curling your hair, also creates volume to a degree: because the curled hair takes up more physical space, and you've opened the hair cuticle. The open hair cuticles rubbing against each other create static electricity, further driving the pieces of hair away from each other and creating volume. Jon's style is pretty clever, because it also helps with volume in a sneaky way. To make it, imagine you have a pair of glasses in your hands and place your hands as if you were putting them on. Now, pull your hands over your head until they meet. Transfer all of the hair you've gathered into one hand, and make sure to disconnect that hair from the rest. Remember that creating waves also creates static electricity, so this will probably be a little tricky. Now, twist the ponytail you've made tightly until it folds back on itself. When you feel the twisted and folded hair lying on your scalp, take bobby pins and pin it there. Repeat this until you've used up all the hair. What you're doing here is taking weight off the roots of your hair, which makes it appear more voluminous. If you're a hat person though, use pomade or it won't last.

How'd you get both braids to be of equal thickness even though your hair is parted off to the side? Did you just grab more hair on one side? And if you did, how did you do that without making your hair look lopsided?

I Love your full hair and the colour too. My comment is that I have thin hair and was in a Car crash so can't use my right arm well, only left. Is there a way to do some of these styles, only using 1 hand most of the time!? Could you show the actual twisting of the hair SLOWER, so I can know + see... how you are turning your fingers ! Basically I think you're the Best I've seen doing the PRoPer fish braids + tricks to help us look as GREAT as you do. THANKS A Lot! Lyn
