I love the chorus. It reminds me of Jon's and Tyrion's first conversation. "Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not. Wear it like armour and it can never be used to hurt you."

In the show Jon was portrayed as a simpleton, yet in the books he was shown as a smarter Man, an advisor to Stannis and with a few plots of his own.

I never viewed him as a simpleton in the show, he was simply an honorable fool like Ned, but he was still very intelligent.

@@darthkenobi6726 my great grievance against him is the fact that he knelt to Daenerys without need for It. She had already allied with him against the others. Other example Is when he crossed the wall to capture a withewalker without asking reinforcements or horses. He was the northern King by Then. Or when he crossed the wall to "kill" or stop Mance Ryder by himself when his army attacked the wall. In the books he did It because he was ordered by someone who wanted him dead, either by Mance, or by the Nightwatch had he refused. It was not his Idea. From season 1 to 5, big or small his mistakes were justifiable, from Then on, the reasoning was dumber.

@@MG21778 Totally. The writing was great for the first 4 seasons. But it went downhill fast from there, leading to the trashfire that was Season 8. I prefer to pretend that nothing after Tywin Lannister died ever happened, and that the rest of the series will one day be released. It's a pleasant fantasy.

Jon is basically a man who started off as a mere bastard, someone who brought shame to House Stark and no one cared of, to have a life so much involved in prophecy by being The Prince that was Promised, the true son of both Stark and Targaryen bloodlines, the King of the North and the true heir of the Iron Throne. Being the literally meaning of A Song of Ice and Fire. And all he wanted was his little wildling redhead, his good boi wolf, his loved ones safe and a life away from the fighting that followed him everywhere he turned. He had been gifted a path to true power and he never wanted any of it.

I love how Jon Snow's song is all about honour whilst Tyrion who is also a good guy, has lyrics which say that he's no man of honour, it just shows how different and opposite allies in this show can be

The chorus line “I’m not ashamed of what I am” resonates with me pretty hard. I was born with a very active neurological disorder, and I’ve been judged because of it most of my life (the main reason why I was drawn to Jon and Tyrion from the start). Full applause to @miracleofsound!

Did I catch a very subtle callback to When Winter Comes starting at 2:26? Clever, Gav. Very clever. As an aside, I love the energy of the song compared to the other Game of Thrones songs. It really feels like the others were building to this, in a way.

Ned Starks blood doesn't run through his veins. Ned took him in, but Jon is Rhaegar's son, and a legitimate one at that. Jon Snow is actually Jon Targarian, nephew to Daenaris Taenerys.

Arya would have never been at Winterfell without him. Neither would Daenerys or Sansa or Royce or any of their armies. His actions led more to the defeat of the Night King than anyone else. He doesn't need to literally kill him himself.

Season 7 has really made me appreciate Jon Snow more. Originally I thought he was an honor bound fool, but he's really just doing his best to do the right thing, lead his people, and save as many as he can. So, now I say proudly, "long live the King in the North!"

Funny thing is, Jon actually was the first true "King in the North", uniting all people of the north. Sad thing is how it ended, I mean, this song comes from a year in which we still were excited about what was happening, and then.... well, we all know what came. Winter was there, we just never realized how bad it would get.

Jon was one of the most “improved” characters in the books. He starts with being a black sheep with a weird sense of entitlement and slowly learns the way the world works until a point where he it experienced enough to begin manipulations of his own. Show Jon is a stereotypical Stark and Northman worrying about honor instead of ways to survive.
