This is the only analysis I've watched on episode 8 that made me actually like it. I had been really disappointed in that episode.

About those power shifts: aside from thew obvious inconvenience of Tommen being more of a Lannister, and the actual remnant of house Baratheon still rowing, there is also a problem with positioning the Lannisters, because among the people that bring Cersei down is Kevan Lannister (Lancel too, though he’s hardly part of the family right now). And if we include Tyrion it will turn turn out that we have Lannisters in at least 3 opposing camps - Team Daenerys, Team Sparrow, Team Cersei and possibly Kevan in Team Tyrell (or maybe just Team Reasonable). Also, the Lannister army truimphs under Jaime’s command, robbing the Starks of the potential Tully support.

I don't think that was Arya that Jaqen H'Gaar spoke to. Arya died in the dark room and the Waif wore her face. Jaqen is happy with the waif since she has become no one. He's also happy that they have a stark girl's face.

Assuming this is true, here is my proposed timeline with dates taken from the ASOIAF wiki.: 208 AL - Aerion Targaryen is exiled to Lys where he fathered at least one child. 232 AL - Aerion drank wildfire and died. 233 AL - King Maekar I died. A Great Council was called to determine succession. The two oldest sons, including Aerion, were already dead. The council noted that Aerion left behind "an infant son" but they pass on the idea of offering the crown to this foreign-born, bastard infant. Instead they offered the crown to Maester Aemon, who famously refused it, and the crown went to King Aegon V. 243 AL - "Mad" King Aerys was born. 248 AL - Aerion's bastard son would have been 16. This seems to be a normal age to father your first child in Westeros/Esso. I propose he fathered at least Varys. 259 AL - Prince Rhaegar is born. 276 AL - King Aerys summoned Varys to court to become his spymaster. If he was born in the range between Aerys and Rhaegar, Varys would have been in his mid-20s. 282-283 AL - Robert's Rebellion. Most known Targaryens die. 300 AL - The events of A Dance With Dragons, which would put Varys in his early 50s. Supplemental: Varys says that he was born a slave in Lys. He shaves his head, perhaps to hide a distinctive hair color; there are stories of his great-uncle Aegon doing the same. Also, Aerion once physically threatened to castrate his brother Aegon; it would be ironic if Aerion's grandson suffered just this fate. On that note: Varys' castration was a blood magic ritual, similar to what Melisandre's been trying to do with "king's blood." This might also hint at his royal lineage. Perhaps it wasn't for magic at all; perhaps castration was simply to put an end to yet another "splinter" Targaryen dynasty. I also think that "Varys" sounds like a bastardization (no pun intended) of a typical Targaryen name ending in -eris or -erys. This would explain a lot of his Targaryen loyalist tendencies. But the question of his complicity in sending assassins after Dany in GOT is an unanswered one.

Okay finally finished watching, lol. Took my time off/on all day, savored it! RESPECT! Seriously, I was a Lit Major and focused on indepth analysis and my professor's didn't hold a candle to what you do, each week. And to me, your points and content are just getting better and better. So many good points, way too many to mention. And way cool all the giveaways, too! That being said, a few points I just really x-tra enjoyed: rewrite you own story point, awesome! "Are you no one, or some one? And if you are some onem who is that some one you chose to be? " And, Jamie choosing consciously purposely to play the role of the king slayer identity (the whole devil/angel on shoulder,) ...and then the Hound going with the middle ground and not yet having found some amazing new persona he wants to embrace so instead choice of Brotherhood with No Banners (identity to no one / they are no one) brilliant connection. And The joke theme/connections!!! would have never seen ALL that without you pointing it out. And wow, cool director inspired/borrowed Aria / Waif chased scene from The Terminator,etc. And, theory on pool and why Arya healed, looked like she had 12 hrs. of sleep and the healing powers of Deadpool, LOL. both funny and awesome. I totally agree, and hadn't even noticed it all til you pointed that out. Cool beans. Yeah something does feel suspicious with Vary's timing to show up and leave and Daenerys arrival...but not sure what it is. And "least and last" haha play on last but not least, anyways, thanks for the oranges symbol tip, from Godfather and other movies. I never knew that one. And it was specifically awesome for me, because I watched recently the movie Blood Orange, and while I had a sense of the symbolism throughout, particularly with the "blood" orange, I didn't know that it typical means a death is about to go down, and sure makes sense to the themes of that movie. I never trust when they don't show deaths on screen. I felt from the moment that that guard said the Blackfish was death that something more was going on. Do you think he could still be around? Maybe some of the Tully army were like hell-naw and hid the Blackfish?

I watch and listen to a few other GoT recap/reviews on YT and through podcasts, but by far Filup Molina's breakdown's are the best out there. After watching these breakdowns I find I usually go back and watch the episode again to pick up on all the little details that he talks about but which I missed on the first pass.

I saw the joke as the Starks being considered drunks. We've already seen it in the Bravoos play so it could be a pretty common stereotype

I agree about Jamie putting on a face. Jamie tried playing the good cop with Edmure and got nowhere, so he played got the bad cop and got what he needed. I don't think he would have gone through with his threat cause he wants to honour Cat and Brienne.

This was a great review. My only quibble is when it was said that Cersei made a mistake by not allowing the High Sparrow to imprison her until the trial. If she lets him get his claws on her again she will likely never be free again.

Perhaps Varys' whispers required him to leave Meereen to meet with Yara Greyjoy somewhere in Slavers Bay? Its around the same time Yaras ships are rumored (E07) to of arrived in the area and Varys mentioned needing ships/friends in Westeros, not 'I'm going to Westeros'?

When Varys first appeared in Mereen (after Dany flies away on Drogon), I totally thought it was the Harpy. He just steps up behind Tyion like he's been there the whole time. I just thought it was an odd random way to bring him back into it.

I figured out the ending of GoT--- after the white wlakers are defeated and everyone is happy again, Arya's foreshadowing of "waht is west of Westeros?" comes to fruition----- battleships, apache helicopters, and aircraft carriers arrive on the Western shores of Westeros. LIke in history, the more advanced civilization will come ashore and terrorize and pillage the primitive Westerosians

The producers missed two big opportunities. One when Dany is giving the speech to the Dothraki and she tells them all of them will ride Dragon's. This would of been the perfect time to reunite all three dragons on that hill. Second, when Arya leads the wraith to the dark room, this would of been the perfect time for her to say "Not Today" as a call back to her training with Syrio.
