A tour of my modest game room. It took about 40 years to collect, and isn't huge, but it's mine. Hope you enjoy it.

This is an amazing collection. If I had to pick one thing that’s my favorite it’s the GameCube toys r us sign I’d love to have that I’m a massive GameCube fan. Great video !

Thanks! Back in 2002 I took it by accident, because the manager said I could have the Nintendo 64 one since they were phasing out N64, but somehow the GameCube one ended up in there too (I never told them, and they never asked). I only had the vinyl sleeves until 2019 when they were selling all their fixtures, so I bought the doors to slide them back into, and properly hang them on the wall (I also bought the Toys R Us logo one to put into a 3rd door back then).

Nice collection, lots of cool rare collectables. I’m very Impressed with your Nintendo power collection, I don’t see many people have it complete with all issues. How did you complete it? I have every issue as well with posters attached (I’m only missing 3 posters which I will get one day, they’re newer issues easily attainable). I Also have completed a few other magazines as well. I’m a big Zelda fan I have all the games, and the limited edition Zelda themed DS and all Zelda themed 3DS editions. I have a decent retro game collection overall, mostly all bought out in the wild for very low cost.

Thanks! If you're willing to read, I can give the story on the Nintendo Power collection. It's been complete most of the time it ran. It goes back to 1988 when my friend gave me the launch issue. My mom and I had an agreement, if I promised my grades wouldn't drop, she'd get me a subscription. Well, I kept my end, and not only ended up on honor roll, I ended up on the high honor roll! That got me a full subscription to Nintendo Power starting in May, 1989. After ordering the 4 missing issues during the time I was doing insanely well in school to even get it, I had them all. I did have a little gap between 1993 and 1998 when I let it lapse (I can go more into that when I do my own Nintendo narrative like I've seen on here), but thanks to Ebay I filled in those missing issues through bulk orders people were selling in the early-2000's (I had a ton of duplicates in the process, and had the rule the ones that were originally mine stay, and the nicest ones- usually ones who had the included poster like mine since I never tore mine out, were added to the collection). I then stayed with it from 1998 to their final issue. I did have a couple that got lost in the mail, and Future was a jerk refusing to send another, but thanks to a school library, I got those couple missing issues. I'd say out of the 285 issues, about 230 of them were from my subscription. The Nintendo Power Advance ones were all thanks to working at Toys R Us at the time, because I got all 4 as they came out (along with cheaper than everyone else thanks to that employee discount!).

@@nintendosage77 wow! You’re a long time Nintendo Power fan, most are from your original subscription, that’s rad. I bought all my Nintendo Power from eBay in very good condition, completed it in 2014, when prices were still pretty low. Love the cover art on Nintendo Power Magazines, such a blast from the past. I have them displayed on a shelf as you do. I’m going to bag and board all the issues(l’ve done first 20 issues).

Wow dude! 47 though!? You lived to see how gaming started to where it's at now. Question, what do you think about gaming now compare to the 90's and early 2000? Do you think current gaming fell off to games back then?
@nintendosage77
@nintendosage77 7 ай бұрын
Yeah, I've been gaming since the early-80's, and with Nintendo directly (meaning their systems) since the late-80's. Interesting question to think about. Honestly, I don't like the business model of today with all the updates (DLC gives me mixed feelings too). It's one of the reasons I'm not happy with this generation, especially now that Nintendo is doing that too. I will probably go into more detail about it when I do my own Nintendo narrative, because the Switch era has been a rough one to go through (at least for me), which is why I only have 10 games for it versus 25+ for all the past Nintendo systems (sans Virtual Boy).

@nintendosage77 thanks for the response. I will be waiting for that nintendo narrative video. I want to hear your thoughts. Well, for me, gaming fell off after the ps4/xbox1 era. Actually, I want to say the ps4/xb1 era is where it all started to go downhill. The lack of experimenting with new ip's, thr silly updates, DLC, DRM, lack of originality, all systems having the same games, graphics, which further gives consoles the lack of their own identity. Games are longer than they should be, too many open world games with nothing in them, the games are padded to be longer than they should. Every game is a battle royal, I could on. The indies are doing a great job making better games than triple A studios with their 8,16 and 32 bit styled retro games. This further proves we had it right in the 90's to begin with. Lastly, let's speak on the switch. The switch is my favorite console to date. Nintendo has revolutionized gaming once again with their creativity. I think the switch is the best system to come out in the past 7 years. That's why valve and others are chasing the switch dream trying to make a more powerful switch, a platform nintendo created, and it's funny how people do not want to admit that let alone give ninte so their flowers. I don't think Nintendo is doing what everybody else is doing per say, but because the devs that are putting games on switch, they are attaching drm to their games, so what can nintendo do? Thats where the cartridges comes in, which doesn't force u to update. Still though, nintenso foes have their own updates for the system that kinda forces u to play newer games. That's why I have an old switch oled that I haven't updated at all. It's running on old firmware. You do have a point though in what you said. I have 286 physical games for switch and over 500 digital games ( that's not counting demos and such though, so it's less than that) which proves that the switch is one of nintendo greatest system. Personally, I think nintendo is the only company holding down gaming. They have become lazy though. They have so many dormant ip's they haven't resurrected and they keep putting mario on the frontline. What ever happened to their sports line? Why haven't we gotten more mature games drom nintendo? Why haven't they remade the original zelda and zelda 2? Yeah, nintendo too have gotten sloppy and comfortable but I still think they're the best. Sony fell off after they changed President. I wouldn't be surprised if them and Microsoft are in bed together. I mean, thry are doing everything to a T thar Microsoft is doing. Sony fell from grace too. Gaming has become too commercial and sony has become too American. I think gaming sucks now. I have more fun playing my old retro games. Nice talking with you. I'm 41 myself.

Yeah, Switch is a great system, and a clever idea for being both a handheld and a console, but what I mean is one game specifically in particular- New Horizons. If you haven't played Animal Crossing: New Leaf prior, then you may not know that right out of the box the game had much of what New Horizons needed updates for- the swimming being a big one. It felt like it wasn't finished, and they updated that thing multiple times until they finally put it close to what New Leaf had, and even with that, New Leaf still retains more than New Horizons does, like more fruit, an island with minigames, etc, and that wasn't even part of the Welcome Amiibo update, which you don't have to get, unless you want to play with someone (I refuse to update my original, because my town tree is perfectly tucked away surrounded by gold roses, and I don't want to punch into the cliff and ruin my sanctuary). You want to talk about feeling like they rushed out New Horizons, talk to longtime Animal Crossing players like myself, and we'll tell you how much better New Leaf was out of the box than New Horizons is with all these updates. It put a lot of emphasis on crafting and customizing the island, because it feels like Minecraft influenced it (and it probably did). That's the part where they're copying the others, they put it out incomplete, then "finished it" with these updates. I'm not alone in feeling like that, a lot of longtime players agree with me. Another thing that turned me off is Splatoon 3. I have Splatoon 2, and it feels like 3 wasn't really needed, so I passed on getting it. The Animal Crossing thing though is the one that really turned me off more than anything, because I have never seen Nintendo do something like that before. That game was far too unfinished on release.

It was a local store called Carol House (they only exist in the St Louis area). I'm not sure the brand of it, I got it in 2003. It's actually bigger than I originally thought, because after measuring to find out, I saw it's actually 7 feet wide, and 6 1/2 feet tall.

Nice. We each have our own gaming path, and that's why everyone has their own story to tell. I still need to do my own Nintendo narrative, similar to Bob (World of Nintendo). I'll get that eventually done, when I get some more free time.

Sadly, I don't. I only learned to play a little bit on the keyboard, because my mom played piano, and taught me to play (somewhat, I didn't really stick with it to be as good as she is).
