Freeze in the Arkham games was hardly a Villain. He wasn’t crazy, he wasn’t evil. He was simply willing to do whatever it takes to save his wife

I still think it’s wholesome that when Mr.Freeze is caught and arrested Batman moves his research equipment to Arkham so he can keep finding a cure just under supervision

Always love that Mr. Freeze is the only villain that Batman can talk any sense into

It's heartbreaking how the reason this starts off is that Freeze respected Batman enough after the events of Arkham City to not want to take up arms against him again. He was done fighting Batman and saw him as probably the closest thing to a friend he had in the world. I do wish we had a gotten one final piece of dialogue between Freeze and Batman where they could say "thank you" to one another and share their mutual respect. Batman deserved to hear that from him

I dig the tragic irony that the coldest villain in Gotham is purely motivated by love

God man this is such a heartbreaking storyline. TAS hit a homerun when they rewrote his backstory.

I think that this might be the most lines of dialogue Nora has had in the entirety of her existence as a character. Normally she's just a plot device to motivate Freeze.

Arkham really humanized Freeze. He’s cold but a pretty warm heart. All he wanted was his wife to be alive.

"I failed you. I wish there were another way for me to say it. I cannot. I can only beg your forgiveness, and pray you hear me somehow, someplace... someplace where a warm hand waits for mine."

I love this side mission. Mr. Freeze is one of my favorite villains. It's beautiful and sad. However, his love for his wife puts a smile on my face.

Batman’s reaction to the termination of this villains story is one of the many great things about the scene. When it’s all over-he says nothing. He simply leaves them with each other.

Love the subtle hint to Mr. Freeze continuing to consistently adapt to his weaknesses like in Arkham City with his new character design. Such as his freeze cannon now being fastened into his suit after his gun was stolen by Cobblepot.

It would be a cool storyline to have Dr. Fries actually manage to save his wife, and become an ally to Batman in the future. He always seemed like one of the only few Batman villains who could be redeemed. All the others are psychos are sociopaths but he just wants to save the one person he loves.

This is the definition of the saying "As a kid you loved the heroes, as an adult you understand the villains".

being a passenger in the batmobile must be wild. like imagine getting strapped to a small compartment, not being able to move in somewhat of darkness, just going through random horrible bumps without knowing if you would ever get out again

Everything about Victor is so relatable. If my wife of 23 years, whom I have been friends with since we were children, was dying and I had a chance to save her, I would do anything, pay any price for that chance. Victor isn't evil; he's insane with grief and consumed by the desire to save the one person who means everything to him.

It really is amazing how in comic history, Mr. Freeze went from just one of Batman's many "joke villains" to one of Batman's most complex and deeply sympathetic anti-villains

Truly one of the most tragic villains, all he wanted was saving his wife.

The amazing thing is that Bruce gets it. "If you trust them, Victor, take the shot." Chills.

I cried the first time I played this DLC. Mr. Freeze isn't exactly evil, he is just doing the wrong things for a right cause... Now he has spent decades to cure his wife and for what? Everything destroyed and his wife didn't even want to be saved anymore for a long time. Even then she still loves him and wants nothing more than spend her last days with him.

Man that's actually really heartbreaking. Nora gets to live only in days, not a year, not a couple of months, but days. Imagine spending the last remaining days with the person you love most and then living the rest of your days without them, while unable to reverse the damage you done in trying to save them in the first place. Man I wish Freeze actually had a happy ending, in a way he does. He manages to get closure with his wife.

The irony of Frieze's situation is that in basically every incarnation its always Batman who helps protect his wife Nora, and helps to save her. Frieze may be a lunatic but he also is one of the few among Batman's Rogue's Gallery who is actually going to the lengths that he is in order to save his wife and thus has a "Good Reason" for what he is doing. This is primarily where in all his forms Victor always realizes that in the end Batman is actually his closest ally in solving the problem for which he has motivated. He knows that he can actually Trust Batman when he gives his word to do something.

I'm still blown away by Nora's model and performance. She stands out among a game of standouts. I simply fell in love with her character, realized after so long a frozen entity in the games. The closeup of her teary, bloodshot eyes felt next-generation good. Their final dialogue is simply beautiful. Who knows how much time any of us have? And then SCREEECH. They go from one of the most poignant moments back to the main gameplay with an offhand transition. Batman's like, "Yeah, we won't hear from them again. Moving-right-along, Alfred. What's next?" It makes me laugh every time.

I like that even after all Victor has done and become, Nora still chooses to stay with him in her final days alive. She could’ve been angry, she’s been frozen for awhile and deserved to feel that way. But instead she was sad because of what Victor became just for her. I hope it’s revealed that they made the most of their time together.

Watching glaciers collapse as they contemplate their doomed romance, nice touch.

Out of all Batman’s rogue gallery, the one person that I always felt sympathy for was Mr. Freeze. Such a heartbreaking story.

I deeply appreciate you using Batfleck's suit; kinda feels like we're experiencing a new Batfleck movie with Freeze.

Y'know, I've always had a feeling that Mr. Freeze and Batman know each other on a personal level too. Freeze is the only real human villain in his lineup, and has the absolute best backstory of any villain I've seen in a comic book. Maybe he works so well with Bruce, because he - as Victor - know who is behind the mask. Who else would be able to fund, invent or cooperate with a man like Freeze? Hence why he doesn't always immediately resort to violence. He's the only villain who - if they called him "Bruce" - it genuinely wouldn't shock me that he knew.

I love the symbolism of the ice melting, indicating that Victor's heart is finally warm again.

this is why batman is the best. he's always got the big picture in mind, and treats even murdered with compassion. he's on a first name basis with his enemies, and is willing to help them out if its the right thing to do. its actually quite inspiring.

The end of this side mission made me cry. Never thought this part of the game would make me emotional

Rocksteady and Suicide Squad can go to hell for what they did to Arkham Batman after this masterpiece of a trilogy.

.. I hope that one day, Victor Fries gets his happy ending. He's the first of the Rogues I felt legitimately sorry for, and that guy above everyone else deserves to get his wife back.

Arkham knight kills me because so many of the storylines teased from Arkham city had really disappointing and rushed endings. But they absolutely nailed the ending to Mr.Freeze and Nora

Victor Fries is one of those rare villains that holds the potential for redemption. All he wanted was to save his dying wife and was the victim of a corrupt, selfish man who preached humanitarianism while hypocritically looking at only for himself and the next highest dollar. And what's worse is the damage done to his body keeps him frozen in another sense. He cannot move forward and find someone else. Longing for somebody frozen alive while he, himself, cannot survive outside of a subzero environment. Every single one of his crimes is aimed at the possibility of a cure for his wife. And it's never about trying to find a cure for his own condition; the fact that he holds his wife's well-being above his own is a very redeeming quality. I sincerely wish they find a way to make this ending to his story on the big screen. They really screwed him up on Gotham. Maurice LaMarche did a fantastic job as Victor the cool duality of the dispassionate and passionate tone of voice was just so spot on with Michael Ansara from BTAS.

There’s a reason Batman calls him Victor and not Mr Freeze.

This is a Batman villain i want to see in the next movie, he's complex, intimidating, but above all relatable. It really put in perspective just how far one man will go to save the one he loves, but also gives a warning about becoming something that could destroy the very thing we're trying to save. I really hope they Give Freeze a decent chance and to give him the respect that his character deserves.

Victor is the most terrifying of villains to face, he is not born of rage but rather compassion and love for his wife, a force to be reckoned with, simply cause as you fight him you know he’s simply a broken man that took a wrong turn and feels as if he’s too far not actually a evil person

I don't think Mr Freeze is a villain. He's made mistakes to be sure. But any man wanting to protect and save their loved ones would certainly make the same choices right? Are we humans really that transparent that we'd condemn a man who is desperate to cure his wife's illness?

This version of Mr freeze could work in the new Batman movie universe if done right.

I like how at the end, batman just.. leaves them to their moment. Even the look in his eyes soften a bit there before he grapples out of there. No need for him to be a third wheel.

He would go so far to save his wife, but his wife is willing to throw her chance to live away just so he can live and have a life and be the man she fell in love with. Their story always makes me want to cry

Dr. Freeze is the only Batman villain who almost anyone can relate too. A man who became a monster just to save the love of his life.

The fact that every recent Freeze depictions keeps the main conflict, but always has new ways of making tragedy is always my favorite part of the character, seeing how many ways he can suffer, only for him to never give up hope for Nora, even when it is making him a villain is truly emotional seeing all the ways they go about with his conflicts, especially when the conflict of this one is him losing Nora because he didn’t want to hunt Batman!

A character can most certainly be a villain even though they have honorable intentions that are not inherently evil. Sometimes the most dangerous villains of all fall into this category... because they justify the actions they take by believing the thing they're fighting for is a noble cause. The type of people that believe the ends always justify the means. For example... Darth Vader, Roy Batty, Tyler Durden, Magneto, Light Yagami, Killmonger, Bill the Butcher, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc..... And in real life this represents most criminals too. Most people who've ever committed evil or morally questionable acts thought they were doing something righteous or justifiable. Otherwise they would've never done it. And that's the point! Most people are unfortunately prone to think they're the heroes of their own little worlds... and they very often disguise this as "Well I'm just a tough guy who can make the tough decisions"... sound familiar? Because they're everywhere across the world! And its totally fine to feel empathy for them in the regard if you feel sorry for them. But it doesn't change the fact that they deserve to be punished if they commit an immoral act.

I cried the first time I played through this part. I usually choke up now and hold back the tears. This scene was beautifully written and voice acted.

Honestly, even though the final tank fight was extremely short, it was so intense. Batman who keeps fighting against a never ending tank attack until all explode and goes blank was so epic.

Freeze has got to be the most human villain in the Batman universe. He's just a man that loves his wife and will literally do anything to save her.

What I love about the Batman: Arkham series is they bring so much justice to the source material while maintaining comic-book accuracy. I never played Arkham Knight, but this final scene is amazing. It's a scene we'll probably never see in a Batman movie since the movies try to be too realistic these days. It's a scene that's like a comeback from the mess of Batman & Robin, and shows why Mr Freeze appeared to be a villain, and it humanises him. The dialogue between him and Nora is a tragic love story, with the line "then let me live" being so powerful. Batman has always been important to me, and with DC still yet to get it's films consistently right, Batman: Arkham has done so much for me.

Makes me think of “a hero would sacrifice you for the world, but a villain will sacrifice the world for you”. Really fits Freeze’s complexity

Why does this always get me choked up?

It's heartbreaking to know that despite all his efforts, there is no happy ending for Victor and Nora. All they can do is spend what little time they have left alive together.

"Find her batman, please" The emotion. The pain so raw and yet so willing to trust the one person who keeps his word.

His actions were so commendable the water started to applause Batman.

I do love how this was so much better a conclusion than the animated movie where they successfully cured Nora. They cannot have a happy ending. That's just not how this story works. Nora has been dead for a long time. Victor simply cannot let her go. In this, they get a brief epilogue together before finally ending together. My take was that when Nora passed on, Victor simply turned off his suit and willingly died himself.

This DLC is probably my favourite in the whole arkham series Mr Freeze is one of my favourite villains of all time ever since the animated series and it always made me emotional that this man did everything to save his wife he was wrong but I understood his anger and I pitied him. Seeing a form of conclusion for the two of them made me happy that these two can spend what time they had together. I don't think Arkham Knight is a masterclass story to tie up the end of the arkham series but the DLC I think really did the game a world of good especially for my boy.

People are willing to do anything for their loved ones, even if it corrupts them, or kills them. Mr. Freeze is a tragic but well thought out villain.

This is very bittersweet, but the best sort of ending for Mr. Freeze and his wife.

When you realise Mr Freeze and Fallout 4's Sole Survivor both had cryogenically frozen wives named Nora.

I’m glad they did this. Gives closure for fans. Mr Freeze has always been a tragic villain. What he did, he did out of love and desperation. Something many people can sympathize with (or empathize, I always get them mixed up). And I’m glad he didn’t even want to fight him. He knows Batman isn’t his enemy, that he’s helped him many times and is his best shot at getting Nora back. It’s just too bad it couldn’t have been a happier ending for Victor and Nora. But days together is worth more than a 1,000 years waiting.

The soundtrack is awesome

There aren't a lot of scenes in games that have truly pulled at my heartstrings like this story arc had.
