@@fuzzyotterpaws4395 Long story short: You gotta score all of your attributed balls, THEN the black 8 ball (always using your stick to strike the white ball). Scoring the 8 ball as you still have some of your balls in play is a foul and you simply lose. (despite pool having quite a few variants, it's one of the baseline rules) So winning because your opponent had bad luck and/or didn't see that the 8 ball was at risk of getting scored too early isn't really a "skill" victory, being congratulated and called an ace for that is kinda silly. (Edit: I didn't watch before I answered, so I didn't know it used the called shot rule, which is even more hilarious. Basically you have to say in which hole you'll get the 8 ball when you get to score it. If it gets in the wrong hole, you loose, plain and simple.)

@@fuzzyotterpaws4395 - In a game of 8-Ball, which is what they're playing, one player has to sink the striped balls and the other player has to sink the solid-colored balls, all the while, both players have to avoid the 8-ball for last. As long as you're sinking the proper balls, your turn continues. Miss, and it's the other player's turn. Sink the 8-ball before you have sunk all your other balls, you foul and you lose. When you have sunk all of your designated balls, you have to sink the 8-ball, but you have to "call your shot;" say which pocket on the table you are planning to hit the 8-ball into. If you miss the shot, it's the other player's turn. If the ball goes into the "wrong" pocket, you foul and lose.

Games in the 1990s weren't any worse than they are today, but the bad ones were vast in number with the explosion of mayfly studios and no one knowing exactly what was going to make money. FMV games like this are mostly laughably terrible; the question is whether you have the courage to laugh or the cowardice to pretend they're good

I just looked up “Minnesota Fats”, apparently he was a fictional character in a novel and movie called “The Hustler”, and a real life person eventually took on the name. Fascinating stuff, though I can’t help but think of that one Twilight Zone episode where some guy wanted to play a game of pool against the previous best pool player, who’s nickname was also “Fats”.
