When it comes to the towers, I'd have the other background players (NPC's not the actual players) clear out whatever floor I haven't planned for as it saves me the headache of planning, leaves room for more unique encounters, and makes it feel like they're not the only one getting things done. (Please forgive my bad english. Not my native tongue.)

(2nd comment for the algorithm) I’ve had a campaign idea lingerin’ in my docs for years called “Sword Scrolls Online” where the final boss (not unlike SAO) is Tod Howard. Thanks for the advice for when I run that some day!
