Tommy Karevik is phenomenal, his vocal gymnastics are next level. Although Kamelot is the bigger, more well known band, I highly recommend listening to him with Seventh Wonder, as that's where he really gets to let his voice and capabilities shine. "Welcome to Mercy Falls" is an awesome song to start with. Please please please do it!

He has done a bunch of interviews with people that react to music on youtube. Yes, like you! He works with big names and stays so humble. He's not fond of being on stage. All Ayreon albums are concept albums that tell a story…and all stories are connected…and Arjen (not only the composer, producer, guitarist, but also him playing the bass and keyboards) recruits top-notch vocalists from all over the world to portray the various characters in the story. He has other similar projects…Star One, Ambeon, Guilt Machine, The Gentle Storm, Stream of Passion…Floor and her sister Irene are frequent participants. Due to the logistics involved in getting all these people in one place at the same time, Ayreon live shows have been few and far between. There have been a few and, fortunately, those have been preserved for home video…and are on KZfaq. I’d recommend the live version of Everybody Dies next.

Kamelot (Symphonic Progressive POWER M) is so important to many genre fans and bands, both with Tommy and with Roy, you should drop all and get into them ASAP. "Elizabeth part I II & III" Live is a good reference start point for Roy and for Tommy "Phanton divine". Also worth mentioning that they made such an impact that emerging bands such as Seven Spires (worth checking) keep healthy the Genre.

The same happened to me a few months ago when I learned about Ayreon and almost immediatly the live BlueRays and the album The Source went on my wishlist for Christmas. Now you have done it ....😁 Ayreon is a musical project by Dutch songwriter, singer, musician and record producer Arjen Anthony Lucassen. Ayreon's music is described as progressive rock, progressive metal and power metal sometimes combined with genres such as folk, electronica, experimental and classical music. The majority of Ayreon's albums are dubbed "rock operas" because the albums contain complex storylines featuring a host of characters, usually with each one being represented by a unique vocalist. All Ayreons guest singers are great. My favourites are Floor (obviously), Tommy, and Damian Wilson. If you want to hear what Damain can do react to Twisted Coil (live) at the Electric castle live show. Its a 9 minute or so song that builds and builds a bit like Ghost Love Score does and the end is just as powerful. His voice gives me goosebumps every time. Its been said that Arjen brings the best out in singers and that they often sound better in his songs than in their own bands songs, and honestly its often true.

In this video, Michael Mills contributions are insane. You loved his "Starblade" contributions and the computer binary vocalizations and to be honest, it's amazing! He's got such range and innovation. The lineup on this track is beyond EPIC! EVERY performer is a lead in a world class band. And every single one of them thrilled to work with Arjen. Steve Vai actually plays guitar on Arjens latest album, from one of his other projects, called Star One. The Album is "Revel in Time" and each song on it is based on a different Scifi Movie with time travel in it. The song with Steve Vai is called "The lost children of the Universe". But the album has many more famous singers and musicians on it.

Arjen does the composing, the lyrics, the guitar, the keyboards and also the bass, at least on the studio recordings. You pronounced his name quite well! In a live setting this is physically impossible of course, but Arjen does not like to perform live any more, so he has multiple replacements.

great reaction! love to see new blood knowing Arjen's work. In all of his projects, there has been more than 70 different guest artists from around the globe!!!! (australian, mexican, erupean, etc) Almost all the Ayreon albums are conected (except for Transitus, The Theory of Everything and part of Actual Fantasy) in a Sci-fi Story arc about an alien race called the Forever and their joruney to recover the previous glory. This takes them to planet earth where they start to influence with their DNA the human race; some time later the human race makes the same mistakes and that takes us to our own destruction in the year of 2084. But there is hope in a human colony in mars where one guy has to revive his pasts lifes until the begining of the universe an close the circle with the Forever/Alphans. It is magnificent.

In this recording Arjen plays the synths, the Hammond organ, the bass, and the guitar (as far as I know). Although he composed and produced this song, he is not adverse to the input of his guests. If they feel it ought to be changed he is willing to adapt, unless he really doesn't like it, point-in-case being Michael Mills "digital" contribution which was fully put together by Michael. Maybe "composed" is the wrong word; he lays down a framework onto which his guests can base their contribution.

There's a full recording of another Ayreon album (Into The Electric Castle) performed live from start to finish. Each vocalist assigned to a character, with costumes and set, and John de Lancie (Q from Star Trek) providing narration. A brief synopsis: various individuals plucked from different eras and places, set to run a potentially deadly gauntlet by a mysterious voice in the sky; to reach and survive the titular Electric Castle. The show is titled 'Into The Electric Castle Live and Other Tales', and should all be available on KZfaq.

It live, its fun and it is amazing. If you like Steve Vai, you have to check Arjen's other project - Star One, there is an amazing Steve Vai solo on 'Lost Child of the Universe, from the Album - 'Revel in Time', just released earlier this year. Interesting fact - Arjen has been recording Floor since she was 19 and they have worked together, so many times, over so many years. - listen to Ayreon and Star One and you will hear Floor evolve, especially in the early Star One Albums.

The character played by Michael Mills is actually a sympathizer to humankind during this song. Which is why he keeps saying "Starblade," which is the title of the Captain's ship.. Yeah man, I bought this album within 48 hours of watching this video. Look up Ayreon Universe at some point. There is a 2 hour live concert with tracks from multiple albums. It is freaking awesome!!

Arjen Anthony Lucassen deserve a lot more attention on youtube then he get, thats my take on it.. he got two bands so to speak, Areyon, which is the real big concept albums,sand where this song come from, but also Star one that is more infuvidual songs, with coll guitar riffs, he just recently released a new star one album, called rebel in time, each song is about a movie that deals with time travel, and yes i dont see to many react to it.. bith of these concepts is Arjen prodicing and inviting guest stars to the album, on new star one album i could mention, Stave Vai, Tony Martin(accept), Roy Khan /Kamelot)Floor Jansen(Nightwish), Britanny Slayers (unleash the archers), and Steve Vai is even present with a guitar solo in one of the song, as well as the hellscore choir, well just to to name a few, o proberly forgot half..lol If you want to check out that Steve Vai solo, the song is called Lost children of the universe, and is the BIG song on this album i feel.. based on the movie Primer, here is the link for the official lyric video, no live performace on this one. but you get the involved presented, so its a nice official lyric video.. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bKd0iZp_vqrKgac.html Beside this one, Fate of man, or Precient is songs worth checking out from new star one album, Rebel in time.

You have just opened the door to an amazing musical journey. Arjen is a master of prog metal. The singers usually are playing roles in the stories. His creations run the gamut from folk to metal, and even somewhat like a Broadway metal play or rock opera. Check out Kamelot! Tommy is the 2nd vocalist for the band and he is amazing. Arjen is playing all of the guitar, bass, Hammond, and synth parts. Ed Warby is an amazing session drummer. You will see much more from him in these Ayreon videos.
