After 10 years, all they said is still true. I´m 38 y/o, so the smells they talk about, I also miss them. Christmas is not about gifts, now I clearly understand my parents choices. There comes a time when we can afford things, so prioritize.

My best Christmas memory was many years ago when I was maybe 6 or 7. My birthday is on the 22nd of December, so it kinda ties into Christmas, for me. But anyways, I had my eyes on a Gamecube and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for the longest time. I went on the website every single day, watched gameplay, everything you could think of. For my birthday, my parents got me the Gamecube I had longed for all year long, and I was ecstatic to go rent SA2B from Blockbuster (when that was still a thing). Unfortunately, the game wasn't there, and I thought I wasn't going to get my wish of playing SA2B on my very own system. However, when I came home with my mom, I went to tell my dad what had happened, and like magic, he pulled a copy, a BOUGHT copy of the game out of his shirt, and I played it nonstop. Best Christmas ever, for me.

Thank you so much for this episode. I find that since my dad passed away almost 10 years ago, my memory seems to have faded, and I have a lot of trouble pulling these happy memories from the files in my mind. But these stories really helped me recall a bunch of beautiful memories from my childhood that I otherwise probably would never have remembered. Especially the dart gun story, my brothers and I had a lot of fun with those too. Thank you so much, guys.

My earliest Christmas memory I think it was 1984 I got an Atari 2600 and Castle Greyskull with a bunch of He-Man figures. I didnt even really know what video games were at the time but that started a lifelong hobby for me. I grew out of He-Man and in a dumb lapse in judgement traded my entire collection for one TMNT vehicle when i was 10. Many many great memories of gaming with friends on Christmas. Like Rob i have a one and a half year old and I can see the other side of it now and it feels just as good if not better.

Merry Christmas right back at you guys. One of my memories, was waking up at 5:00AM to find my Christmas gift under my pillow, a viewmaster and running outside in the snow to see Santa and my parents telling me that I just missed him leaving. We were poor by today's standards, only got a single present every Christmas, and I can pretty much remember every single present I received.

Thank you guys so much for sharing these memories. They always, always, put a bright smile on my face. Rob -- I totally hear you when it comes to game music = Christmas. For me, it's the battle theme from Final Fantasy II on SNES. That whole game, everything about it, just screams the nostalgia of childhood christmas for me. I remember the music being so catchy that my brother and parents would comment on how loud I was humming along to it, ahaha. Kind of ironic, I guess? I don't know--I finished the DS remake just before Christmas this year, and all those memories just came flooding right back. Was probably the best Christmas I had in a while just because of that. Great stuff.

Thanks for sharing the beautiful thoughts and memories, guys. This is one of your best episodes so far. To be frank, while I've certainly enjoyed watching you guys exchange gifts, after last year's Christmas special I was starting to feel I'd had my fill of that, so it was a pleasant surprise that you went with something different this year (though I'm sorry to hear of your job misfortunes Robman). A favorite Christmas memory of mine: I was with my Mom's side of the family, and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's version of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" came on the radio. I grabbed my little cousin Robbie (about 15 years younger than me) and started dancing with him to it. He was bewildered and not going along with it at all, but everyone else in the family got a big hoot out of it. It was a great feeling to be the source of some Christmas cheer for my family.

I'm with Rob, in the sense that my boy turned 3 last month and is genuinely excited about the holiday (and the presents), and being able to be part of his excitement really makes the time together feel special. I guess personally, reading Christmas stories with him before bed and getting the chance to talk; answering questions about Santa, Christmas what he's excited about.. At that age and this time of year, everything can be so hectic, it's a timely reminder how important that quality time is.

I know I'm late but since there was a lot of "Christmas isn't about the gifts" in this video (and I really enjoy your channel) I want to share a gift-less Christmas memory I was reminded of while watching you guys. The Christmas before last I was playing in a church band and we were trying to come up with some newish, funish, songs for the big Christmas Eve service. I mentioned a duet I had heard on a TV special years before that really moved me, not because I thought we could do it, the song was uncommon and hard just to find on a tape, forget finding sheet music or even chord sheets. I brought it up because we were all really good friends, still are, and I wanted to share it with them. A week later at our next rehearsal our lead guitarist came with sheet music for the exact arrangement I told them about and asked me to sing it with him at the Christmas Eve service. He had gone home, found the song on youtube, chorded it himself, and typed it up for everyone. I suppose in a way it was a gift but one that he paid for with his time and effort (he even changed the key to a range that would suit me) it was definitely a moment I hold close to my heart during the holidays.

My favorite Christmas memory isn't exactly the Christmas, but the story of a Christmas gift. We had just adopted my little brother in 1985, in August. That year my parents took him with them when they did their Christmas shopping. I've been a huge Transformers fan since the line debuted in 1984, so naturally they knew what to get me. When they were thinking of something for my brother to get me, this is what my Mom told me happened. They picked up two figures they knew I didn't have and held them up for my then 3 month old brother and the one he reached for is the one he was going to "get" me. It turned out to be the Autobot crane, Grapple. So, cut to Christmas Eve and like all 9 year olds I'm impatient, so they let me open the present from my brother and I'm ecstatic. Play with it all day until it's time to go to my Grandma's house for Christmas eve night with the rest of the family. We start opening presents there and my Grandma hands me one of the presents from her, I open it...Grapple. OK, my cousin got a different one so we traded, no big deal. My Aunt hands me a present from her and my Uncle....ANOTHER GRAPPLE! So we had to return that one (I got Mirage instead). I was destined to get a Grapple lol But, on my shelf behind me right now, in mint condition with all stickers 100% and all accessories, is the first Christmas present I was ever given to me by my brother. (And sitting on his shelf in his living room is the GI Joe vehicle I was building when my Dad called with the news I had gotten a little brother, the VTOL.) yeah, we're sentimental.

My favorite Christmas morning came in 2002. I had just turned nine years old (gotta love December birthdays) and after begging my mom for well over a year, I woke up Christmas morning to find a brand new Gamecube with Super Mario Sunshine and the Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition. With it I got a second controller, a new TV for my room, all kinds of stuff. It was just like Robman mentioned; the epitome of Christmas gaming. That whole day I was just so happy, playing a new system and enjoying myself!

Most of my brothers and sisters (6 in total) are much older than me and were moved out by the time I was old enough to really care, so Christmas was always the time that the house was full with the whole family. My parents were always good for getting us really great stuff for Christmas. As a kid I would never really ask for anything specific, my parents just kind of knew what I was into. It wasn't often that we'd get games for Christmas because cartridges were so damned expensive, but when we did it was always awesome.

Rob Man's story reminded me of a similar thing my folks did for my Brother and I and that they made a little treasure hunt game. The wrote many clues on postcards and we followed them around till finally we got to our laundry den with our gift on top of the dryer, unwrapped it and there it was, a Sega Genesis with Sonic 1 & 2! Good times!

When I finally got a GameCube with Super Monkey Ball 2 and the strategy guide for Mega Man Battle Network 3 on GBA was probably my favorite. I loved that guide because it was still a hard game for me when I was little and I would spend hours trying to trace and copy the pictures at home and during lunch at school. Also it was the last actually positive Christmas with my family so I'm very thankful for those memories.

Been watching these for years and love them. But this is the true spirit of Xmas. Presents are amazing at any age, but as you get older, you quickly realise that those you surround yourself with, and are able too do what these guys are doing here...... remembering great times, Xmas with pals and family, eating good food.... drinking laughing.... It is more important than any gift. We live in some crazy times. Covid ruining lives, then Putin and this awful war.... Cost of living crisis hitting so many. Just cherish each day, and the outlook you have at Xmas, try and keep that running the whole year round. Look out for one another, help those in need, be good too each other, because God knows this world needs a little more kindness and less evil. Just live life! and of course, enjoy the run up too Xmas and the day itself.

I always love your Christmas videos and I love when you guys share memories, so this was a great gift to a fan like me. :) I have a lot of Christmas memories tied to games, but one of my favorites is probably when I got The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess in 2006. To this day, I've probably never been more excited for a game than I was for that one. I had just finished my first semester of college and my life was in a huge state of change, but getting to dive into that game on Christmas morning and through the night made me forget all about everything around me and it was just like any Christmas past when I was a little kid with a new game. It really was a magical experience. I remember my Mom was disappointed that she wasn't able to get me a Wii with the game (she actually got me both the GameCube and Wii versions, because she'd bought the Wii version first and was planning on getting the console and just ended up giving me both versions; I ended up liking the GC version better anyway), and I remember telling her how much I really didn't care, I was just so happy to have the game; I had a big, goofy smile on my face and all I cared about was playing Zelda. :)

Great Video Guys! Christmas for me is sort of better than ever. Sure I don't get super excited about opening gifts as I did as a Kid but now being 27 it's all about the giving. So much fun picking out stuff for people and seeing their reactions. Especially the kids
