It is not often that you encounter a plot point that should have killed a character through dehydration, but "300 sexual encounters in the space of five hours" is definitely one of them.

This isn't just a movie with an expansion fetish, this is like an expansion fetish performed ON a movie: three hours long and crammed with every possible thing until it's ready to burst any second

The part of this which is hardest to understand is why a bunch of stereotypical gamer🐊 incels would have a problem with replacing real women with fetishized virtual sexbots

I'm less put-off by the bizarre fetish stuff and more by the bleak incel misoginy. Don't get me wrong, the kinks do add to the surreality of the project (and they make the movie interesting to talk about), but I would much rather have art that has weird kinks and is normal about women than the inverse.

FINAL EDIT: Oh my god, I was not expecting the sudden "Y'all need Jesus" message at the very end of that movie. Jokes aside, as much as I don't like the director of this movie, I have to admire the dedication to creating this movie. I'm in two minds about self indulgence when it comes to writing. On one hand I think self indulgent writing gets too much of a bad wrap, when it can in fact be a good thing. When you write like that you're taking extra care to make something you're very passionate about. You're leaving a little bit of yourself out there for your audience, all that can lead to great art. It can help you find a people that like the same things as you instead of making something that has mass appeal but doesn't really hit anyone in a particularly memorable way. However I also acknowledge that you need to take into consideration HOW you fit that into your story, whether or not your self indulgent scene isn't messing up the tone or pacing. I have come across stories where I can tell the writer really enjoyed making what they made and it makes me like it all the more, but other stories where it feels like everything comes to a crashing halt to give us this one jarring scene that goes on for way too long and takes me out of the experience.
