I dunno if it's because the internet wasn't as active in gaming back then but there sure is alot of bitching about this games difficulty compared to back then. I don't get it either. This is standard ace combat.

Agreed...been failing it multiple times...Maybe if Mckinsey can just fly himself...it'd be alot easier

Finally able to do this, I had the same aircraft as in the video but with laser-guided bombs, which is all good for range for the SAM sites.. but later on in the mission, I see why Air-to-air missiles are favored for this mission. The tip is in the video, just clear as many SAM sites as possible, then as soon as planes appear, shoot them down, then returned back to Mckinsey and more SAM sites will be shown, rinse and repeat... Not looking forward to coming back to this mission on Hard mode!

@@hadleighmurad yeah been doing that, but I think I haven't been flying back quick enough to McKinsey fast enough when the enemy planes appears. Might do that right away when they appear.

I chose to fly out ahead towards the center of the blue base at the start, knocking out all the SAMs along the way (And a radar site), then loop around to the northwest before the planes appear to knock out the first pack of aircraft appear so I can have time to clear the SAMs around their spawn point, knock out the aircraft as they spawn, head back towards McKinsey knocking out SAMs along the way, then head towards the second fighter spawn point while continuing to knock out SAMs. At this point, because I knocked out most of the SAMs before they even got to fire their first volley, I'm generally in pretty good shape when the double fighter spawn occurs. Look for SAM tracers around McKinsey's aircraft and follow them back to the undetected launchers if you find that you missed a few.

Yes Ryan! In this video, it's hard to believe the Mig-31's and Mirage 2000's were not shot down as quick as me or you could do it.

@@moobs haha yeah part two is rubbish when your Aircraft is equipped with A2G or bombs and standard missiles and standard speed equipment, becomes a nightmare. I'm just glad it was in VR, otherwise I probably would of been sick from all the high G turns..

Hey, i'm playing on hard mode now, as i've played through Normal + Easy, you'll able to unlock faster jets. The best advice i can give is to fly out straight at the beginning, just flat out, take out the first SAM's, then go all the way to the "ally" blue dots on the map, then fly across the map parallel to them, then head back to Mckinsey. You'll see smoke trails of SAM's missing/hitting Mckinsey, trace them back (you DO NOT NEED to take all of the SAM's out) only as many as you can see before the jets show up. If the jets show up and you haven't taken any SAM's out, keep flying until you spot 1/2/3+ ect. Once you done that take out the jets and repeat. Fly back to Mckinsey, see the trails of smoke, fly towards the general direction and you'll be able to take out a few more SAM's. More enemy fighters will show you, just take them out and then it repeats one more time with fighters coming from both direction, hopefully after that, the mission will automatically complete part 1. Hope this helps, i've done it on all difficulty modes.

@@zimworlddee919 Welcome, good luck, i know its frustrating, i almost gave up on Normal. Advice for a newcomer starting the game would be - play on easy, build up MRP, buy decent jets and it will seem a little easier next time around.

@@darrylbailey76 Honestly used to find this mission so hard. I know it like clockwork now. Here's what to do, arm yourself with any fast jet with only Air to Air missiles, the F22 works perfectly if you have it unlocked. As soon as the mission starts, just hold down R2 and travel as fast as you can forward (in my above comment it will tell you exactly how to do it). When you get to the first SAM site they will magically show up, this is the same for most of the SAM sites, the others will be visible as the mission unfolds (sneaky!) So stay to the left, as you approach the wall (don't need to go that far btw, only close to the blue dots/allies) then fly in a clockwise manner following back towards where you started like a big U-turn. When you get back, you'll need to shoot down the jets trying to shoot down Mckinsey, just use Air-to-Air missile to do this a swiftly as possible, once jets are down, fly the map again in a clockwise manner (or anticlockwise) as long as you're speeding around (more SAM sites will magically appear) and then more jets will. Rinse and repeat. Hope this helps, let me know if you need any more info?

most missions in this game require replaying them at least 20 times so I can finally beat them. These game devs have absolutely no idea what easy difficulty is supposed to be like.

I Failed once and got it through it at second time.

A2G is what I used. It certainly is fire and forget and move on.. But I would recommend A2A as it would help with the second part of the mission.

@@hadleighmurad I beat it shortly after my post I was using air to ground and doing the same fire-and-forget move on but I ended up doing air-to-air so I can hit the enemy Fighters with a little more range.

@@rickmurillo6857 Nice one! i am going through the game again, this time on easy, i've just done this mission, with 4AAM, but come to realise, the progression in the story (2nd half) is time related, not how good or a player you need to be.

The whole game is underwhelming

Must admit guys, you are right, I was excited, as I'm a long time ace combat player, but essentially all AC games are predicable. In my head I had a few scenarios, and I knew what the missions will be like, especially the last few.. I was like.. Ah here we, go classic AC. Nostalgia yes, VR is pretty cool I must admit, online, well.. Only played 2 matches, so I can't comment. The company or companies that make the AC games could go so many directions with this game, there is so much potential, they already have the knowledge of aircraft, weaponry, technology, weather, terrain, but it wouldn't go amiss to add something fresh. Or maybe I'm asking too much?
