I think it's funny that you struggled against Kalameet, because with Power Within and an RTSR setup, it is possible to one-shot him with Chaos Fire Storm, I believe it's called. And Power Within is a pyromancy too, so it doesn't break the rules of this run.

Why didnt you do DLC before Izalith so you can damage bed with black flame?

Oh boy, the Quelaag bit brings back memories of doing this run in a slightly different way. I did a variant with only the dragon head stone, no armor, and no blocking. Quelaag, Gwyn, Artorias and 4 Kings were absolute hell.

I count the climax of Dark Souls 1 as killing Lautrec, the rest is filler, so with that in mind the challenge was already done.

Nice video. Pyromancies were my favorite, because of how useful they are in a hybrid built where you mix melee and magic. And with the right pyros and an upgraded flame Ornstein and Snough become a lot easier. Some 9f those spells hit like a truck XD

Fun Fact: Some boss souls are worth more if you trade them with Frampt instead, including Gwyndolin's Soul, Moonlight Butterfly, Sif's soul, and possibly Ornstein's soul. However, he only will give a whopping 1 single soul for Smough's Soul.

The Soul Level 1 challenge is regarded as easiest in Dark Souls 1 (and by extension the remaster) precisely because pyromancy buys you enough damage to even dispatch later bosses like Manus and Kalameet with the damage of a normal playthrough (especially in a hyper mode set-up). This was always gonna be a breeze. On that note, SL1 no pyro when?

You can do this at level 1 actually. You never need to level up, but fighting kings is gnarly. Otherwise ez fun run love the content

Am I the only one rewatching these challenge runs?

Pyromancy is so strong it actually feels like cheating at times. I'm currently doing my own pyro run, but I will allow myself to use fist weapons and consumables such as firebombs as well. Qelaag still nearly broke me.

Trick: You can rescue the pyromancer without killing any boss if you have the master key, just enter the depth through blight town, basically doing it backwards

New early game route for this run: 1. Select master key as gift 2. Run through undead burg, and kill undead merchant 3. Go past angry rock and through darkroot 4. Run through perish and get basement key 5. Run up across bridge and to the door to lower undead 6. Unlock said door, bait three dogs into fire 7. Unlock Griggs 8. Open rusty door to undead burg 9. Grind souls using bridge dragon until you accumulate 20,000 or more souls 10. Run back to firelink and purchase bellowing dragoncrest ring 11. Boom!! Kill Taurus and continue on your merry way

I beat DS with pyromancy only + no lock-on awhile back. I also did a Sorcery run and miracle run + no lock-on. I'd intended to do the same with Bows, but the no-lock-on requirements became far too stringent for me to beat the four kings so I dropped them. I just couldn't do enough damage fast enough to get ahead of the king spawns, so I ended up getting ganked. Maybe I'll revisit someday.

The fact that he never went and grabbed poison mist near the great hollow so he could poison fire immune enemies for atleast SOME damage irks me uncontrollably, eingi also sells poison AND toxin mist too if you get infected with an eggsac, so there's a pretty reliable source of non-fire damage early on.

You forgot about poison and toxic pyromancies. Not sure how much damage you would get out of them but they were an option from once you arrived in Blighttown

2 pyromanceys I found you can actually get are power with in and poison mist, they require you going to the back door of blight town, using poison mist on the dude who is a worm on the wall you can kill him after some time from 1-2 uses to get power with in. Sadly most or all bosses are immune to poison

Poison mist is technically a pyromancy you can get in blighttown before any of the bosses that are immune to fire. Idk if it's enough to kill spider lady so the npc might still be needed for help but discharge and bed of chaos only need a little bit of damage.

Well my reasoning for why the bellowing dragoncrest ring works on pyromancies is because pyromancies origins come from fire sorcery which is what the Witch of Izalith, her daughters and some residents of Izalith use. The demon firesage's catalyst explains that they were the last known user of flame based sorcery before becoming the first demon. Quelana managed to escape and taught Solomon her flame sorceriers, which he used and changed its essence into becoming pyromancies by using the 'flame' of ones souls. Laurentius mentions the flame he gives to you (if you didn't start with it) is actually a piece of him. Probably why pyromancies don't require intelligence or faith. As it's a natural power Thats my take on it lore wise.

i'm 90% sure this is possible glitchless excluding using Mildred on Quelaag, and without punching Ceaseless. Once you get Lordvessel, you can go into the DLC for black flame, which does physical damage.

Honestly, if you were playing OG Dark Souls and not remastered you absolutely can, use the super easy duplication glitch with fire keeper soul to give yourself massive pyromancy damage, and then use it with any good value boss soul to massively upgrade your flame

The poison mist spell was in the swamp before quelaag, that probably would have been some help early on, and the toxic mist spell from eggboi when you join the covenant/ egg yourself can be super fucking helpful

For anyone trying at home. 9n ceaseless just do the alternate kill. It's not a cheese and doesn't require you to spend thousands of hours whittling him down

Ah I remember doing this challenge. Walking into the Capra fight right out of the asylum in RTSR setup with the intention of throwing time consuming spells that I'm not allowed to miss is pretty fucking intimidating.

I think the most difficult challenge run I've made is a Cursed SL1 Run. Believe it or not, New Londo Ruins was the most difficult area because you are so low on health.

On the Demon Firesage: No. That's a clichéd misconception spread by some dude who doesn't check stats. The DF actually has the highest fire resistance out of all of his elemental resistances. He's just weaker to elemental damage in general (than he is to strike and thrust attacks, and significantly than other late stage bosses).

I just want to note that the two bosses that are completely immune to fire are both skippable. You can use the early Izalith shortcut by giving 30 humanities to the Daughters of Chaos. I haven't seen the video yet, so I'm not sure if this used or not, but this isn't at all a glitch and completely intended, so the run is 100% doable.

And so, Pyra locked herself away for hundreds of years to save the world again. I wish she could just be happy playing Cooking Mama or something

This isn't a challenge unless you do it at lvl 1. Even then tho you can still one shot almost everything. +5 ascended pyro + chaos firestorm + "gnaaa!!" ring one shots Gwyn, kalameet, and artorias. Manus is the only challenge but only slight. Great combust. And black flame for him

The fact that mildred is somewhat resistant to fire makes her viable against Quelaag. I don‘t know if there is any lore connection about her being fire resistant, but it makes sense gameplay-wise
