TO EVERYONE: If you watch the episode, we mention that many of the games we mention have had sequels in the past. There is no need to let us know that such-and-such had a sequel, as if to invalidate it's inclusion in the episode. We know. We want better and proper sequels. Thanks for understanding.

It's funny that you mention that. No clue when a 3rd RPG episode might be, but I started playing Suikoden on the PS last night. I hadn't played it since I rented it for one night when it was brand new. I remembered a lot! There was that really nice guitar tune as we were all eating dinner near the beginning. I then remembered that there should be strings backing this guitar tune and that it wasn't on the OST release at all. Yup, the strings then came on!

I really wish you'd put the list of games in your episodes in the description of the video. Anyways, what games really need sequels are the Mystical Ninja/Goemon series (although there seem to have been a few more recent sequels, I haven't seen any in America), Snow Board Kids (from N64. I know they had 1 sequel on the DS, but I'd hardly call that a sequel because it was a piece of shit), and Bomberman 64/Bomberman the second attack (I know they have bomberman sequels that play more like the traditional bomberman games, but the style in Bomberman 64 and Bomberman the Second Attack was just so fun).
@GameSack9 жыл бұрын

Goonies 2 was one of my favorites on the NES and with all the hidden stuff and figuring out the different pathways and how all the doors connected, it took me weeks to finish on my first playthrough. Anytime I've seen or conducted testing on the strength of other people's balls, or found myself in a situation where someone was testing the toughness of my "balls" as, it became readily apparent to me and the other researches that none of balls tested were very tough at all. However, I frequently hear Joe Redifer referring to games as being "tough as balls" and I wonder if it's possible his balls are abnormally tough like made of stone and he doesn't realize that it's a bad frame of reference to use in a conversation since his ball toughness is wildly disproportionate to that of the great pubic public at large.

Working Designs didn't make games btw, they just translated them. At the time, they provided a decent English translation (albeit with flaws) with correct grammar and spelling in the days of conglaturation and all your base are belong to us (although I will say most of the voice actors they used were excellent). So that's why they seemed amazing at the time. By today's standards their translations are below average.

FYI- You actually do NOT need the save game backup cart in order to play Shining Force CD Books 3&4. If you look in your save data in the system menu, you'll see two files, one that's 99 blocks, and one that's just 1 block. You need to delete the 99 block file, as that's your actual save file. The 1 block file keeps track of what you have completed. Also, if you just delete your game from within the game itself, it will make sure the right file is deleted. I have played all 4 books without having the save cart.

@MrLBSilveira9 жыл бұрын
Corey Cavalier Similar to what happened with Parasite Eve, which also deserves a true sequel.
@LiquidDIO8 жыл бұрын
+Corey Cavalier Yeah, I would love a proper sequel to Dino Crisis. What they did with 3 was one of the single most disappointing moments I think I've ever had with a game. As for Parasite Eve, despite being a sort of prototype for the ATS battle system, the first is still the best, in my opinion. What they did with 2 was just NOT good, and I refuse to talk about the 3rd game that wasn't a sequel but was a sequel but wasn't. Maybe some indie group will give us spiritual successors one day, but I don't think Capcom or Square has their shit together enough to honestly give us what we want anymore, especially Square.
@nohomers1007 жыл бұрын
Dino crisis 2 is severely underrated. It's probably the most fun game ever made. The guns the action the ridiculous plot. The game was great!

The boss is multi-jointed yes, but the rotating part is mode 7. The joints were all animated sprites. Mode 7 isn't a chip. And like I demonstrated the backgrounds are really a simple task that can be performed on any system of the time. They only expand in the vertical dimension. Super easy to do. Look at the Sonic example I showed.

I would love to see the Mega Man X series back on track. Just like they did 9 and 10 for the original seeries. I think the first Mega Man X game is perhaps the best Mega Man game ever done. Axelay’s “vertical” stages aren’t actually moving you to the center of the screen. You are always moving up but they actually scroll left and right too. That’s the horizontal scroll catching up. Because it’s scrolling the other things too, it doesn’t actually affect your precision. What does affect your precision is the rolling 3D effect where you may think you were in the right position to avoid something or thread the needle until you get closer, the object grows, and you realize that your position was not correct.
