My friend and I split the AoS 1st edition starter box and we had a lot of fun playing it every week right from the beginning! Sadly he has since passed away but I continue to play the game on and off when I have time.

I was around for the beginning for AoS. Where undead were a completely broken faction where roll's of a 1 counted as a save. I know. Total BS. But we would use a wound system. So the max we had was 75-100 wounds per army. But having five players in the store who would just run undead spirit based armies just killed the mood of the entire game, and it died after the first few months of release.

Thanks for reading my story (the first one). AOS was indeed a wild west untill points came. In the first ever tournament we did a cap on wounds. When doing that there was no reason to take normal Night Goblins over Squigs. Both 1 wound. But scuigs bite twice as much and twice as hard.

I loved being a skaven player in AOS 1st edition, I put an additional dot on one of my clear dice so I could "roll a 13" because they had a rule that if you rolled a 13 you auto won. Lol

AoS 1st Edition wasn't a wild west, it was just all homebrew because the game was literally unplayable with tge official rules

Oof, your thing about the kid saying things and sounding too mature for their age hit pretty close to home. I've had a pretty messy childhood, but I was pretty slow to develop. But there's one kid in my miniature gaming club who's like 9 who speaks and annunciates way to mature for his age and just last week he did a 69 joke which caught me off guard. Love 69 jokes and even jokingly label it 'the holy number' and during my Rogue Trader campaign made it of you roll a 69, it's a success or if you already succeeded you get an extra degree of success. But I never made any joke like that around the kids. But now you mentioned that, North, it makes me feel a bit uncomfortable.

It's the that primes you, that you seek to replace on failure due to her being horrible; and thus get another one that's just like her as you're attracted (primed) by that fantasy and hope that this time it's gonna be different, when it is the flaws that should be red flags that have made into your attraction-radar. So it'll be a chain of bad relationships all for the same reason. Bad psychologists have claimed this is a product of Masochism, of self-punishment, but that is insane nonsense. It is a product of hope and maladaptive attachment to the false image the bad relationship had initially (during the "lovebombing" phase) created - the mask that isn't the real person. The same is true for girls/women who repeatedly get into relationships with yet another guy who beats her up... not her fault. That's the same problem with the roles reversed. The only thing that helps out with that is to sit down and really figure out, best with pen and paper, what it is that attracts you in all these bad types, and why they are all so similar in their badness - then force yourself to see those things that give you the hots, as warning signs instead. It takes some time to recalibrate that system, but it is possible. We're pattern recognition machines. And if you survived a couple of these bad apples, you can do it. At the end of that labyrinthine road is a good apple.

It amazes me when giant corporations, that have the means and resources, acts like a small bussines owner. You tell them what happened, show them receipts, usually for things they told us to do and they have the balls to blame you for their incompetence. They give you all the responsability, without the authority and get flabbergasted of why stuff isn't working. Why are you on the negative? Because you allow customers the give products back, from your other stores. Why are you always calling us for maintenance? Because you don't fix things properly and leave traps for the next person to deal with. And, regarding the last story, the reason why you don't see that amount of arrogant customers on retail is because most of these stores aren't the brand of the produtct itself, they sell from a variety of other brands, that people buy because of cheaper prices. In the "field of retail" that i work, there are "customers" that use me and my coworkers as punching bags for things we don't have control or authority and the managers, or their superiors, usually break the rules to give these "customers" what they want, making us looking bad and causing more internal problems to solve later. No wonder, most of us don't know what we should do, when problems happen.

In my exp, retail ppl get blamed no matter where they work for company stuff. Not just GW. I've worked retail in a lot of places, and found Supermarkets get it worst imo. But sounds like this manager had it rough.

I had models stolen and pawned. It was one of my tournament lists only and i had another 3k at home still for this faction..death guard. Of course the pawnshop wasnt just going to hand them back immediately but wanted some sort of proof. Thank god i had a lot of WIP and finished pics saved. I also had an account on B&C that i could log into and pull up posts almost 2 years prior this situation. What and idiot this guy was. He was well know and pretty damn cool. Ive played multiple games with him. He got hit with multiple felonies. If you had to get my models built and painted by a commission studio, it would bare minimum cost $1800-2k for what he😅 stole.he was found to have stolen from gw too
