2:00:42 If you end up as Lucina's mother this scene is absolutely kino. The surprise, shock, then resolution and acceptance you as the player feel is mirrored by Robin. I was surprised to see the alternative scene here because the one I saw kept with me after all this time.

It's genuinely crazy how this is the only time they actually did something special with the idea of the Avatar being able to marry basically everyone. It feels so shoehorned in in the later games that Three Hopes agreed and replaced it with getting one ability-item per playthrough.

3 Houses is what I hoped Fates would be. Edelgard's route is what Conquests should have been, "There is a wrong in the world and I am willing to kill hundreds of thousands if not millions to rectify it. Done! Deal taken!" Edelgard's route is straight up the cost of utopian visions and I love it! Dimitri is a classic Fire Emblem story of the weak triumphing over the strong. Claude is an anime meme I didn't realize I needed. Combined with the difficulty they set up for the game on first play through and the way they set you up to go nuts with OP builds in new game+. allows for old and modern players to find some aspect of the game they like.

Personally I think Edelgard's route is just too morally bankrupt to justify the bloodshed she all too willingly goes through. It's one thing wanting to make right by force and another is to force it so hard you break the other's arm. Not to mention, her dispute with the church goes to an incredibly petty degree that she is willing to let even more evil people linger longer just so she can get more use out of them. Again, morally bankrupt for the ideals she parrots.

I mean, edelgards route really isn't a utopian world, so it just replaces one corrupt system for another, which in real life failed (pretty sure it's just the Roman empire). Also, the game doesn't really call you out for basically committing genocide on the church who aren't all that corrupt all things considered. Honestly, if you want a morally grey fire emblem, go play Berwick Saga because that does it with much more tact then 3Houses

Oh, an idea for a video Shane. Now that you have played them all, you could rank them from your least favourite to your favourite and discuss why. I've seen a few videos like that from other creators and I always find it interesting to see why people like certain FE's over others.

You’ve done a great job with these fire emblem videos. I enjoyed them all and its clear how much effort you put into them. Especially when so many of the games haven’t been localized, which has no doubt been a hinderance

I can't believe I'm done watching these videos. It's been an amazing 15 hours. I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate this. As someone who only got into FE with Three Houses and is currently playing Engage having otherwise only known of this series because of super smash bros. I have to say how much these retrospectives got me to love a series that I've barley touched upon myself. While I don't see myself going out of my way to play every last one of these games, espcially those which never made it out of japan to begin with, it feels really satisfying to still feel like through these videos I have gotten a better understanding of where the franchise started, what kept it going, made it so special and how it ended up being where it is now, so thank you a lot for that!

The spyro trilogy is the holy grail of hub worlds and the beauty of the reignited trilogy is that it looks exactly the way my brain told my eyes it looked like. Autumn plains and evening lake are still my favorite locations in video games ever

I can't believe I went ahead and did it but...I watched all 16 or so hours of these two videos. Something I've never really done before except that excellent Castlevania series retrospective I watched the other day (and iirc that was just 7 hours). Mind you I skipped most stories synopses, either because I had already played the game or because I hadn't, but it was still pretty hefty.

i recommend birthright too, its still the same devs, same combat system, good map design and well balanced, i would love to say the same for rev but its an ubalanced mess that i havent even tried on lunatic lol about the map design, characters and classes of birthright, they are a bit different from CQ and sometimes require a somewhat different playstyle from CQ, but if you have beat that on lunatic you should be able to just adapt naturally to whatever BR throws at you, anyway its different but still fun through conquest is still more fun for me and many others, its nice to have a change of pace edit: i just realised that im not even sure if you have or have not tried BR, sorry if you have

Just finished watching both parts over the weekend and this is sincerely one of the best series hands down. No one has ever managed to make me interested in playing old fire emblem before (I'm one of those awakening fans :') ) but I think I'm gonna give fe4 a try. Keep up the good work!

@@zxylo786 Radiant dawn was anything but forgettable. They made a lot of strange decision with that game that hurt it a lot. A Seuqel to a game that was not the biggest hit that came out at the end of the lifetime of that consol? And then realising the sequel on a consol which main selling point was the motion controll without having them. And third the the increased difficulty in the west compared to POR. If it was so forgettable would Ike still be one of the most beloved lords?

Fates, I have all 3 routes, I have tried many times to play the others after playing Birthrights. I have never completed the other routes. The issue is Birthrights, Conquest and Revelations are to similar. The routes are as different as Pokemon Red is to Pokemon Green. Birthright you defend from an invasion until an opening appears then you invade the enemy territory and beat up daddy. In Conquest you defend from an invasion until an opening appears then you invade the enemy territory and beat up daddy. Conquest should have been a literal CONQUEST, it should straight up be "we are the baddies." instead it plays out exactly the same as in Birthrights. As such I never finished Conquest and since I never finished it I never finish Revelations since I refuse to do the third route until I finish Conquest. That being said English version of Dark Song is Lit! One of the greatest offense to Fire Emblem fans and music in general was that song not getting a proper full release. SO GOOD!

Xanders entire plot is dumb, which sucks because his supports and Conquest paint a very different picture of him from Birthright Story Xander. He is shown to have his honor, but be perfectly willing to go against Garon when he is being an asshole (even it in doing so it makes things worse, but thats the problem with conquest in general). He also loves his family and takes their opinions seriously. So then we get to birthright where his entire family is telling him that Garon is being an asshole , only for him to completely ignore them until Elise sacrifices herself, and then instead of taking responsibility for his mistake, he continues to fight us against Elise's wishes and forces us to kill him instead of helping us or at the very least staying out of our way. And as you said, have Conquest be a real evil path. Let me be as comically evil as Garon is because that's the only reason to ever go back to him.
