The holy water seems like a useless weapon, it's the double and triple shots that make it good.

I like the cross myself for it's range, especially when you get multipliers

omega3711 when you miss the crit just stopwatch and kill the bat, watch Paweł Prędki's guide on YT on running this game, ppl say it's great. Started practicing yesterday as well and the guide really helped me with the first stage so far.

How it works is you need to hit ten objects with your sub weapon. Dracula's head and body are separate hitboxes, so when you hit both with your cross, it's hitting "infinitely". This doesn't kill him like how the mummies get killed, since his body takes no damage, but it does add the necessary hit count for the multipliers to drop.

The game counts hearts down at the end of the levels which takes time.

Critical hit glitch. If you attack an enemy on the same frame it hits you, then you do a ton of damage to it

Very difficult to get this glitch. Takes perfect timing.

At the end of every stage, all unused hearts are slowly count toward score, that's why runner is using them all during the stage, to minimize score adding time

I think he meant that there is another way to beat the level that doesn't require much health so if he had gone that way he could have just miss that meat.

Well, later in the level, there is a dragon statue thing blocking your way on the stairs so you damage boost through him. Since you get the meat, you will have enough hearts to damage boost. If you skip it, then you won’t have enough health. So if you skip it, there is a trick called stature skip. You throw a holy water on the stairs and pray to god you don’t get hit

basically you swing and have whip out as you are taking dmg and it kills him in one stroke. you have to do the room without stopping and drop off the platform instead of jump etc for a faster bat cycle

Funny part is the run went extremely well when you consider the tricks I got, I just made the simplest mistakes. I thought I did an okay job of hiding how nervous I was but I was extremely on edge of every input and that just results in dumb mistakes I suppose.

dude I can only imagine, i get nervous doing runs alone in my bedroom lol - can't believe you got the stop watch trick, never could figure that one out ( or crits for that matter! ) Great time considering the 2 deaths but hey, that's what makes marathons so interesting to watch : )

If I wasn't a frame off with the stopwatch activation on stage 1 it would have been a marathon first I believe

All of these "Command? Command?" comments you're probably hearing in this and the other Castlevania runs have to do with Dragon Warrior, which was the game after this block. Basically at AGDQ, Dragon Warrior was run and utterly destroyed. Part of how that works is that when it's your turn to fight a monster, the game prompts you with "Command?" and you input your action. Part of the manipulation of the run is to force this prompt to come up more than once (which is by making a canceling action). It makes the prompt reappear. So at points in that particular run, you'd see "Command? Command?" several times in a row in order to make the monster behave in the way the runner wanted. So the more you know. : D
