In this video I discuss the pros and cons to using this controller with an iPhone 15 series device. The following platforms were tested for the making of this video: Amazon Luna, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Apple Arcade, and Call of Duty Mobile. I also discuss the pros and cons to the Gamesir iOS and Android applications with respect to the G8 controller.

How do the triggers feel compared to a regular console controller? I’ve been told there isn’t enough resistance and it’s too easy to press the triggers all the way down, is that true? If so does it affect racing games and games where you need to draw a bow like Horizon?

I thought it felt good overall. I played assassins creed and shot a bow without any issues. I think it’s comparable to an Xbox controller.. maybe slightly lighter on resistance but it’s usable. I ended up returning it or I’d go double check for you. You lose a lot of features if you have an iPhone so I didn’t keep it.

Can you please help how to setup the “Run” button for call of duty mobile?

If you have an iPhone the only buttons you can map are the back two. This is because the controller is mimicking a PlayStation controller in order to work on iOS. So if pressing down on the left analog stick doesn’t work to run then something is setup wrong in the call of duty app or how the phone is recognizing the controller. If you have an android you can use the GameSir app to remap all the buttons. You can see how to map the rear buttons on iOS in the manual here: www.gamesir.hk/pages/manuals-gamesir-g8

It’s just upsetting that it seems that android in terms of this controller is getting all the updates and accessibility (my biggest one is g-touch mode) and that to update firmware and calibration you NEED an android phone. I bought it for my 15 but a lot of the things I wanna do I need an android for

Yeah it’s a bummer. Solid controller otherwise they just need iOS support.

Same i bought this for my iphone 15 but it wont work. Tried all the different (color) modes but without success. Good thing I still have my Zflip with me. But still a 👎👎👎 coz I was excited to use this for my Iphone.

Hold M + L4/R4 (whichever one you want to program) until Mode/Connection Status Indicator blinks white slowly then press the button you wish to map to L4/R4.

Hello King, when I buy the Gamesir game console, are there games installed in it? Or does it need to have a PS or PC to play games?

This is just a controller that connects to your phone so long as your phone has a USB-C port. It only plays games that you have on your phone. You can also stream games on your phone from Xbox Game Pass and similar services as long as you pay for them and the controller will work for that as well.

If you pay for their ps plus service you can play ps games.

This will not work being connected to any console. It will not work with games you’ve purchased. It will only work with games you can stream from PlayStation plus, Xbox game pass, or games you have on your device already

Only a thin case. Physically the phone will fit in the controller with a case on it in general but the usb-c port will be unable to make a connection if the case is too thick. GameSir recommends not using a case.

Only game pass as it’s just acting as a Bluetooth controller.

In android COD mobile not recognize as a external controller because only BT gamepads are alowed ... To "cheat" that you have to sync a BT controller like a Dualshock 4 ...and then you can play with the G8 . Or you have to map on screen. big fail . In IOs works great....

I tried using g touch mode and mapping the buttons and it didn’t work. It was extremely frustrating.

As I mentioned in the video this controller is not supported on iOS / in the GameSir app. I hope they fix that. Otherwise great controller.

On an iPhone it only works in PSMODE (white LED) if the game does not support a PlayStation controller then you can’t use it. On android you have to change the mode depending on the type of game you have. It’s all in the video.

Did you watch the video? The controller had 3 game modes you will have to choose between if you are on android. On iPhone the only mode that works is PS MODE. You know you have this mode if the LEDs are white. If the game doesn’t support a PlayStation controller then you can’t play the game on iPhone with the G8.

The controller has a USB-C port and the iPhone 13 has a lightning port therefore the controller is not compatible with the iPhone 13.

The company just needs to cough up money to support the iPhone in their app and pay for whatever certifications needed through apple to make the device actually compatible with iPhone.
