I am Hungarian and I don't find the depiction of Hungarians in this game offensive as some "journalists" suggest. On the contrary, it is an honor that the creators touched Hungarian history in their game, and they even included dialogs in authentic Hungarian language (and the voice actors speak it very well, which is a rarity). I don't mind being the villain, because for the Bohemians at that time, we actually were. :D

My boyfriend, unlike me, didn't have any specific sympathy for medieval history. He always used to tell me these were dark times and that there's nothing romantic about working in a field for 12 hours all covered in dirt, shitting in your own armor or dying in agony from a simple scratch. And now, as he's playing KCD, he tells me that he got the idea. Don't get me wrong, he still says he wouldn't like to be in Henry's shoes even for a day, but he now understands why the Middle Ages appeal to lots of people. My point from this whole story is that if someone managed to create a game with the atmosphere that could interest a person who's not even into the subject then it definitely means they did everything right! KCD team, you've made a masterpiece! Yes, I must admit it has more bugs than the flower fields near Ledetchko, but it is still a masterpiece :) You may be proud of yourselves. Greetings from Belarus. P.S. Those who prefer ignoring the truth in order to protect their view on things are no better than those who are actual racists or whoever ignoring just another truth.

Honestly, 95% of people thought this was one of the best games out there, while 5% of people had a rather loud voice. They can believe that other people read their "well researched" reports but we know otherwise. Don't take their bull to heart. Great game guys, finally something original and inspiring. Looking forward to the DLCs.

The game is a masterpiece imo. First game in a long time to have me hooked and fully invested in its storyline and characters from start to finish. Began to think I was getting too old for games and was losing interest, seemingly unable to become fully immersed in any recent rpg until this. Took me back to my obsession with morrowind and then oblivion after that. Gave me those same feelings of escapism and that I was part of a living breathing world with characters I cared about. Full immersion. Also love the fact its built on the cry engine which is something I longed for a developer to do, an rpg in cry engine!. Thanks warhorse for this special title and for being a company that seems to share my own ideas on gaming but unlike me have the power to actually create them!. Cant wait for future titles from you guys.

It warms my heart to see brilliant people sticking to their guns and not caving to the easily-offended individuals who slandered it. And even moreso to see gamers unite and buy a million copies in the first week as a big middle finger to everyone who wanted this masterpiece to fail, and who try so hard to ruin our games.

Nowadays people are used to live in hurry. They don't think much about their actions, because actually they don't have time to consider all options given. So do games! Many of them are just pretty fast-going and gamers also skips some quests or cutscenes, because game dictate fast playing and it's not good, but KCD did something opposite. Game puts player into huge open-world, which is truly beautiful (not boring), where time flows slower, there isn't too much action and, finally, player can relax and adore this excellent gameplay without any rush. That's where the whole beauty is.

Fantastic episode as always. You did a great job addressing the controversy at the end and it was really great seeing someone give them the space and platform to really talk about. It's genuinely something that other media seemed to have no interest in. Seeing that there are real people on the other side of the computer screen is so important. Twitter seems to dissolve all empathy. Again, this is awesome work. I'm consistently blown away by the quality. Wish I had been able to throw a few dollars your way during the Kickstarter. Just getting around to playing it now, but I was blown away by the quality of the game's writing, acting, and music. On release the reviews colored it as a shoddy game that was basically unfinished but I didn't realize how high a quality certain aspects are. Now, 2 years later, most of the bugs and optimization issues have been fixed, and mods on PC have made the game even better. Really great game.

Not only is this comment in 2024 but let me say to EVERYONE, I REPEAT EVERYONE!! KCD not only holds up in game play, mechanics, music, history and graphics even still to this day. Its also one of the most beautiful and extremely difficult open world rpgs still to date. Its in the top 5 for me absolutely. Massive achievement. Thank you WARHORSE STUDIOS for this epic opportunity to visit the past. Watching this still gives me chills and also makes me want to fire this up and play it right now. Also, i love wizards and magic as much as anyone but not having it makes this title more special. Ive always been a sucker for alchemy in any rpgs but KCD does it perfectly. 2nd best i think is the witcher 3 followed by SKYRIM. i love you guys so much for letting me have the experience to play Kingdom Come Deliverance.

Of course he thought to create "Mafia," one of my all time favorite games since I played it 10 times near its original release. The attention to detail, realistic combat, focus on historical accuracy, and next-level story-telling of Kingdom Come: Deliverance are many of the reasons I liked Mafia so much. Like Mafia, some of the best moments for me in KCD are the mundane and hyper-realistic interaction between the player and an indifferent world where the player is merely another human put into such an interesting historical context. The feeling of freedom, along with the immersion, is what makes this game hands down the best game I have ever played. It's now getting near the end of 2023 and still no word on KCD2? Henry has scores to settle, parents to avenge?!! I can only dream at this point it's in the making and an announcement is within arms length. Come on Warhorse Studios, you can give us a little teaser, surely? Improving on the first game will only bring success. I always thought wouldn't it be cool if there was a sequel that starts off with Henry, Hans Capon and others getting ambushed right after their journey starts when first game ends. This time though, Henry gets captured, tied to a tree, and we then get to see, from Henry's perspective, Hans Capon save us by taking out the bandits one by one. Just thought I would be a fitting start to the game....if there was ever a sequel made....cough....!!!!

I finally got around to watching this. Thanks a lot for the documentary and telling a pretty comprehensive story of how the game came to be without getting bogged down too much in details. I still haven't played Kingdom Come past the few early hours because my PC is too weak but I was one of the backers and always believed in the vision and love realistic medieval stuff and visited a lot of european castles in my childhood and teens. I wanted to support anyone who has a strong vision and dares to create something with a bit of risk but also a ton of promise. I'm not disappointed at all. I grew up on a farm in southern germany and the landscapes in KCD are so realistic that childhood memories and sensations rushed back. I could smell the dry earth dust when working the fields, I could smell the forest floor, feel a breeze or the warm sun.

Mafia The City of Lost Heaven was one of the best story telling games I have ever had a chance to play. This is one of the most iconic-memorable games with memorable characters, creative and fun missions and that emotionaly composed soundtrack by Vladimir Simunek. Not to mention that the graphics at the time was a lot ahead than the other games. What a nice times!

@37:00 they speak of the artificial combat in most open-world RPGs. KCD was certainly a game where I was genuinely afraid of starting combat, even with just a single enemy. They did wonders with this.

sadly mainstream game journalism is on Its very low, but that means It cant be worse, does It? Ah who am I kidding some "journalist" is probably right now writting something even more stupid. But thankfully most of us, players, customers have brains and can make our own conclusions and see through the clear lies, specially these days when there is so many examples of bad "journalism"

This is because they're *not journalists.* Any fool can buy a camera and open a KZfaq account, but to call yourself a journalist simply because you comment on games, many of which they never even played or they don't even like the genre. Journalism.. to journal (to record). There is no bias in real journalism.. if there's bias or an intended narrative, then it's editorial, commentary or just some opinion. We really need a licensing / qualification system for those trying to consider themselves journalists.. like a bar association is for law. Imagine a lawyer or doctor in name only.. someone buys a stethoscope and think they're qualified to practice medicine. Proliferating information is an extremely important function in society, and spreading lies and political propaganda is absolutely as dangerous as pretending to be a doctor. Wars are started, riots have been seen from reporting, and this is precisely what they want. Stir up trouble, then aim a camera at it. They only want to put ads in front of this chaos they themselves start, for financial gain or demented fame.. regardless of the disservice they've done to their fellow countrymen, and to their own nation. I know I went on, and I only intended to write 2 sentences, but this is something I'm obviously very passionate about, and disturbed by what's been done to it in the name of greed, fame or plain incompetence.
