I think it's worth trying to upgrade the RAM to 4GB. My old Dell circa 2006 officially supported only 2GB max, but it worked with 4GB DDR2 (3.25 usable in 32-bit Windows 7).

This video randomly came up, and reminded me I have one of these in a cupboard somewhere. Got it off my mum 3 years ago, she had used it a hand full of time since 2008, so it's in great condition. Discovered CPU is upgradable so put a compatible £5 quad core in. But haven't touched it since then. Ram and battery next I think.

I have a 4730 z-which i assume is an older with the same processor and amount of memory and it looks identical looking to yours. I have an SSD and and a copy of Linux Lite on it and it plays You tube videos up to 720p well. i have never tried to game on it,though. Perhaps the operating system demands make the YT vids player better with less memory demand. Enjoyed the video.

Install a Intel Core 2 duo T9300 processor and RAM 2gb+2gb (DDR2-667, DDR2-800) in your laptop and the laptop's performance will increase. This laptop is not suitable for gaming. Well, maybe you can install a second OS (Windows XP 32bit) on the SSD and play old games (2000-2008)

You should check if your board can handle CPU upgrade. I changed my desktop CPU from a core 2 to a core 2 quad core for $25. and now the KZfaq lag problems have disappeared. If the CPU are not sodered on then there is a possibility. It requires research in your mother board capability.

Hmm with hardware this old it does help to install chipset drivers, I don't want to advertise here, but i use driver easy, even in the free version which is super slow and you have to install the downloaded ini files manually you at least get all the drivers you need. The problem is that a default windows 10 somtimes just runns on high compatibility drivers for old hardware, which sometimes doesnt run full speed on the sata port (as an example) making your hardware slower than it needs to be, and updated drivers do help at least a bit. Thouh i say with older dual cores and 2gb of ram windows 10 is a pain, i know that from experience too. Great video still!

@@vladimirazirov1815 i don't remember the model name but the processor is an old amd radeon , 2gb of ram 1 module soldered and the other slot is damaged. My brother use this laptop for school so i think making minecraft playable can cheer him up a bit.

@@nah2341 download and install the Speccy program from the Internet. See which motherboard model, which processor model, type of socket and which type of RAM (DDR2-800? DDR3-1066?)

a minor error regarding the specs. The Pentium Dual Core has GMA 4500M graphics, not Intel HD graphics :) Sorry for being that "must be fun at parties" guy in advance.

I am surprised that you did not upgrade the cpu. A Core 2 Duo T7800 ( 2,6ghz ) should work in it.

I have this laptop, got it 3 years ago, grabbed a compatible quad core (forget which one) for about £5. Works nice, although I've done nothing with it since test as want to fit 8 gig ram and new battery.

Ok so I was interested in if/how I can upgrade my old Acer Aspire 5735 laptop, found this KZfaq video, and all it shows is that I can't play modern games on it at all but I can put in a new speedier Hard drive as well as Windows 10 (albeit by demoting nearly all of the settings and uninstalling most of the features). Simple question: What does my laptop need to be able to run even something as simple as The Sims 4 as well as Windows 10 (without sacrificing all of the add-ons)? Can I add a new processor to the motherboard, for instance?

install the cpu-z program on the laptop. On the first page, look at the processor model and socket type. Look at the "Mainboard" page for the type of chipset. On the "SPD" and "Memory" pages, look at how many memory modules and how many gigabytes of memory in total. HDD or SSD in a laptop? Give me this information so that I can answer you correctly :)

I wonder if it would run some 2d games like the binding of Isac or, they bleed pixels a 2d platformer, this really brings me back to when I had a potato laptop, it was a challenge to find games that it could run without a problem.

Slitaz uses 45MB RAM on boot, though for this a more advanced distro like Bodhi Linux which uses about 170MB RAM should help this run faster.

Crazy ideas....but, for this configuration try to install windows 7. It will run smoother without have to disable any resources.

I have an old acer aspire as 1410 and i consider the same or even worse problem with its 1.4 ghz single core processor i then installed lubuntu on it and it made a huge difference i can even watch yt videos now and i did uprade to an ssd maxing out the sata 3 limits

You said lububtu? Originally this had an old version of Ubuntu on it but honestly it wasn't much better - there were Wlan driver incompatibilities with Linux that made the internet even slower.

I think that if you install the newest version of lubuntu the pc would work just fine because mine is also from 2009 and even slower as yours and it runs perfectly i wish you good luck with it ;)

for 18 dollars you can upgrade the cpu from ebay to a intel core 2 duo t9600 or even better add ram I have 8gigs in mine

You must install Windows 7 ThinPC or Windows 10 LTSB 2016 instead of full version of windows 10.

I have a dell inspiron 1545, upgraded my CPU from T4200 to P8800 and replaced the HDD with a SSD. I did it a few years back, and it was working great back then. In 2022, I don't really recommend upgrade it any more, unless you are like me who only do light gaming. There are a few $300+ laptops on the market now that run significantly better than my old laptop.

@@Ri96junk It performs much better, a big difference. But it heats up more, especially in "Windows 10" updates. I had to lower the CPU usage, in various ways, and it's better now.

:facepalm: You can't run anything above XP with only 2GB's of RAM. You will destroy that SSD in short order as Windows 10 will be using it non-stop as VM. Good luck pulling down any updates without it blue screening. 4GB's is the bare minimum to boot any Windows past XP without going into VM right at boot. even then, with only 4GB's, it may not even install the updates properly.

The weird thing is my 2011 acer aspire 4750g blue colored model can run outlast at a whopping 54 fps to 62 fps at lowest graphics BUT it runs minecraft at 8 fps to 6 fps at lowest graphics and the specs of my acer is an intel i5-2410m and a gt 540m ddr2 2 gb but i recently installed windows 10 pro and it was struggling like yours. SO i'm still confused why outlast is running smoothly instead of minecraft which is much older than outlast. -_-

little RAM. You have DDR3-1333 type RAM. Buy a second memory module for 4GB or 8GB (so-dimm DDR3-1333) => 2gb+4gb, 2gb+8gb. You can install the processor better: i7-2630qm

My acer aspire 5560 couldn’t even run wow classic. Bunch of lags and spike. I got sad. Idk if I can switch a part to make it better or if I’ll have to invest 800 dollars to get a decent computer. PC gaming is expensive

@@thalibthaj it is better to remove the HDD from the laptop and install a 240-256GB SSD (SATA-lll, 2.5, TLC) and divide it into a drive C and D. SSD + T9300 + 4GB RAM => Windows 10 x64 will work well

(Manafacture in 2010) Coloquei um Core i5/ 2.410M, na mesma Placa!! (Acer HMA 51R) Coloquei 4GB DDR3/1333Mhz Samsung (Tinha 2GB/DDR3/10600), Suporta 8 GB, estou procurando outra memória de 4GB/PC3/10.700, para pôr no Máximo). Instalei o Win10Pro, e Direct X 12 . Agora vou colocar um SSD, este computador está uma bala. Talvez suporte na sua placa!😉 Forte abraço! ☺️ Thank's!

No lo hagas, te cuesta mucho y no es tan fácil, normalmente, las laptop q tienen un cpu con FSB de 800mhz,no se les puede poner uno más alto, creeme, intente con una Gateway Md7818u, con T6400, pero en alixexpress cuesta mucho un cpu con FSB de 800mhz, claro, tendrías q buscar si tu laptop soporta más de 800mhz en FSB, o si la BIOS lo soporta, o si la placa lo soporta, aparte, el mejor q te puedes poner es un T9300, creo, q es de los más altos con un FSB de 800mhz, y no, tampoco le puedes,poner un QuadCore, para eso le tienes q modificar la BIOS y la placa para q lo soporte. En otras palabras, no lo hagas. Tienes q ver muchas variantes, como FSB, tipo de RAM admitida, voltaje, que chipset lo soporta, si tu placa lo soporta, etc

No vale la pena cambiar el procesesador, a menos que realmente lo consigas muy muy barato. Ya con el SSD y la RAM adicional está s casi el máximo de lo que puede dar

As it stands it will not, on its own, run Fortnite. I'd like to try Stadia and see how that runs, and if Fortnite comes to Stadia it could work! Stadia does have less requirements than GeForce Now, so it could work!
