It’s probably an entirely separate topic but technically you could put “gaming chair”. Yes the traditional gaming chairs are not going to make you better at the game, but getting an ergonomic chair can be a huge upgrade for some people who have their arms jammed into the desk or are slouched

Absolutely agree. The only real issue is money as good office chairs are bloody expensive. Mine costed me over $1000 (AUD) but has been one of if not the best investment I've ever made for gaming as I used to have pain and discomfort all the time on cheaper gaming/racing style chairs which I don't get with my office chair and can game for hours and hours without any real issue.

One upgrade that is super underrated is a headset with proper surround sound. I got my steel series arctis pro wireless headset after desiring one for 5-6 years and boy when I say it's worth it, I mean it. I went from barely being able to understand whether someone is upstairs or downstairs in some games to being able to keep track of the exact location of every sound naturally without moving my perspective an inch and it's mainly thanks to the software that comes with the headset and its ability to adjust whether the surround sound aspect is immersing you in the game or simply making extremely accurate and separate sound queues in addition to being able to adjust the distance at which sounds are heard from the user. I've had an issue where when I can hear the sounds accurately, they end up scaring me when they are too close, but with the adjustable settings that Steel Series provides with their software I was able to make the sounds far enough to not scare me, but accurate enough to tell exactly where every enemy is at all times without shifting my in-game view from where I'm aiming.

As someone with a 120hz monitor, I can say for sure that 60fps gaming is absolutely fine, and if you're comfortably hitting that fps with quality visuals you have fun with, stay there. Having a 120hz monitor will force you into wanting or needing a GPU to run at that rate, or you'll have to lower your quality settings. For those of us who are used to higher refresh, dropping down is instant "ew" because we're used to the higher refresh, but 120 to 60 isn't all that bad. I've been put in a situation where I had to do just that and honestly, I got over it in an hour. This isn't like 60 -> 30fps, where even desktop Windows at 30fps is an eyesore to me based on the mouse movement. Point here is: the people that see the difference are used to higher. I can recall that going from a 60hz monitor to 120hz was nothing something that made me feel there was any difference. Again, I only noticed when I dropped down for a bit, but it was still very playable. Mouse weight is not something that matters like this guy says it does. The weight of your hand and arm dwarfs a mouse and anything reasonably respectable for "gaming" is going to be lightweight enough. Categorically, this guy is wrong about ergonomics. If you have pain after a few hours of gaming on your mouse hand, the problem is your form and a lighter weight mouse is not gonna solve it. Look into a radically different device/shape like a trackball, or Azeron mouse (yes, expensive). Maybe you can try changing your grip. Yes, get a gaming mouse, but don't go bonkers looking for the most fly weight thing out there and spend on it. If you're watching a comparison video and the reviewer says something about "oh, this one is heavier" and penalizes for a difference that isn't nearly double the weight of the next, you won't feel it. Choose the mouse you want/need based on something else. My recommendation if you're well pocketed and enjoy having fun with gaming peripheral is a SwiftpointZ mouse. WASD gaming, though "standard" involves a lot of finger dancing. The SwiftpointZ has the same amount (actually more) buttons than MMO gaming mice, but they aren't just tacked on your thumb. It legit has functions to enable you to control a lot with your right hand leaving on the most convenient of functions for the left to handle WASD and a bit extra as you please. Where you do want your mouse motion to improve: focus on your mouse pad (fps gaming, low dpi, large mouse pad, whole arm movement), consider a gaming sleeve for your arm, and yes, skates matter so I agree with the video on that. Don't be fully caught up on how "easily" it slides across the pad in terms of no force == better. The real goal is making sure the friction is even across movement, and there isn't a noticably higher amount of force needed to get it moving to break static fiction over kinetic (moving) friction. Also that no parts of the surface generate more or less friction.

A high refresh rate monitor (OLED's now are meta) and a relatively powerful PC plus a lightweight mouse is all you need for competitive play. And at least 1K polling on mouse and keyboard. But I think finding the right mouse shape that fits ones own hands and playstyle is more of a larger factor. As if you can't physically aim and click accurately, no amount of hardware upgrades are going to help to such a degree of making you a better player. But yeah moving mice to lets say an old and dated & heavy wired/wireless mouse; to a 2023/2024 mouse, with a 3395/3950 sensor and at sub 59g one. Would be a massive upgrade I suspect.

I have been doing a ton of research and have looked at countless videos about glass mousepads, specifically the wallhack sp-04, and the one thing that is mostly consistent with a lot of people is how your arm or wrist sticks to the mousepad. The only exception to this rule is if you live in a colder climate or wear an arm sleeve, which I am not going to do either. Also the fact that I live in Florida and how it is usally very humid also makes it worse for me maybe I might buy a glasspad sometime in the future, but I decided to buy the artesian raiden mid and I am willing to maintain it weekly with washes.

I am late to this but for mouse skates and mouse pads they all depend on what game you play, e.g. I play valorant and it’s better to have good stopping power and control pads rather than rly smooth/slippery skates and mouse pads. I use the g pro super light 2 and a cloth mousepad and imo the stock skates r rly good bc it’s both smooth and has good stopping power, it is just my opinion. For games like Fortnite, apex or any tracking game it’s better having glass skates or glass pads.

Obviously, there’s better HE keyboards like the Wooting, but i wanted to get out of the 60% layout since i also need other keys for work stuff (plus the price is nuts). The software is decent, theres two switch options (Silent and linear), it can be wireless and also pretty sure it comes factory lubed. Overall, a pretty decent keyboard for the price. It does only come in one colour but the actual housing is only white so keycaps are the only issue for me.

I think there’s another big reason why people get pain other than just heavy mouse with slow pad. And that’s terrible ergonomics. I used to be guilty of this. I aimed with my wrist, while sitting too low and it fucked my wrist so bad. I had so much tension. Getting the right chair height, desk height and position makes aiming with your full arm possible and easy. That’s the biggest aspect to reducing pain or strain. Yes. Lightness is better in general but I think with good posture and form one could avoid pain easily despite a ‘heavy’ mouse. That said, aiming precisely would be harder and I’d recommend a light mouse AND changing seating position for someone experiencing pain.

It will make your aim better with time and far better than cloth mousepads when you get the hang of them. Also skates can make the mouse feel more controlled on glasspads if control is an issue, making the glass pads more usable to noobs.

Good suggestions here. I'd only push back on lighter mice being strictly better. I think weight is very preferential and isnt going to make a difference for most people in terms of arm pain. Ergonomics are what matters there imo. Also would say that smoother buttery mouse skates are also preference. Personally I dont like skates where I can't at least some what feel the texture feedback. You dont need to enable high refresh rate in Windows. If you play your game in fullscreen mode (which you should anyway) the game applies its own refresh rate / overrides the windows settings. From my experience with two monitor setup, when one is 144hz and other is 60hz, it introduces problems in windows. It's just a preference, but i dont think its really nescesary, to run windows in 140hz... Just a waste of gpu power and recources. Also for best response times, cap your game framerate a bit under your max framerate (so that your GPU isnt always at 100% load) + enable Nvidia Reflex or Radeon AntiLag2. Also Variable Refresh rate in monitors makes is so that you can run the game at whatever frame rate you want

Nah, 100+ Hz is still smoother and more responsive, if you have less frame rate than the refresh rate. A big mousepad is unnecessary, if you have high sens. I wouldn't call an S or M sized Artisan low quality. True, glass is the most consistent, but it also has drawbacks. The sound, especially with not top tier skates, the coldness in winter, the stickyness in the summer (so you might want to use a sleeve or some kind of a wrist rest) and you have to prepare yourself buying PTFE way more frequently than with cloth/hybrid pads. It also severly limits your feet options in terms of material (to basically virgin grade PTFE and a special plastic, but I don't remember the manufacturers name for the latter).

I've always been stubborn about my mouse. I've been using a Bloody A70 for years, ever since I got into the Minecraft high cps scene. I just don't want to lose drag clicking, or destroy a LOGITECH mouse by trying to drag click on it. The only thing I hate about the new Wooting 60HE and others, as that none are ortholinear.

Ok. I cant agree with the super light having the worst stock skates, its the sora V2. Ive had this mouse for about 2 months and the skates have already gotten worn down, and its visibly worn down as well.
