Tutorial on how to repair the L1 or R1 button on a Sony DualShock 4 controller (DS4). There are a variety of solutions to try, and should work for most issues, such as pushing on it's own, not responding, being sticky, or mushy. Most of the techniques involve cleaning and/or replacing.. This video includes a deep teardown, which may be useful if you are doing other things to your controller. I am using a model CUH-ZCT2U with a JDM-055 board for most of the video, but I point out the major differences with the other variations, when it is important.

Good video. I was trying to fix a second controller out of these 3 junk controllers I have (figured I should be able to combine the 3 of them into a functional one) turns out the most viable one just had a slight battery issue and was somehow missing the plastic pads behind R1, R2, L1, and, L2, so I was able to salvage those and a battery from another controller that had drifting issues and it was good to go! 👍

My issue is that the L! and R1 buttons on my ymir controller work for the function that requires me to hold the button down but after a few seconds it stops, acting like i let go of the button when i actually didnt

If you replaced the film, and the rubber contact things it should be working just fine. Sometimes china does send out dud film circuits though so it’s best to buy more than you need.

So I came here after I put my controller back together after cleaning it to fix joystick drift. Every button works except R1 and idk what to do Edit: it works when the 4screws on the back have not been put in and tightened.
