"My dad died when I was 16, things that a normal kid shouldn't have to go through,
and relationships I shouldn't have had, I had a deep sadness and a longing for death.
It's ironic that I had such a great passion for music and yet I longed for a seemingly peaceful death.
As a child, I didn't even have the right to show sadness or pain, I had to be cheerful and always grateful.
Sadness, pain, and other emotions were all disallowed as 'negative'.
About two years ago, after going through something so hard that I almost died, I asked myself the right to decide my own life,
and that I have the right to express all my emotions, including sadness.
I had actually written this song a long time ago,
but it's only now that I've been able to be honest about my feelings that I've been able to complete it.
I hope it can bring comfort to those who have been through the same pain as me.

서로 원치 않았던 이별과 그 이후 아팠던 삶, 그리고 다시 삶을 찾기까지의 여정을 담담히 담아낸 곡
“아빠가 16살에 병으로 돌아가시면서, 보통의 아이라면 겪지 않았어야 할 일들,
만나지 말았어야 할 인연들을 거쳐오며 깊은 슬픔과 죽음에 대한 동경이 있었습니다.
음악에 대한 그렇게 큰 열정이 있는데도 불구하고 평안해 보이는 죽음을 동경했다는 건 참 아이러니하죠.
어린 제게는 슬픔이나 아픔을 내비칠 권리조차 없었고, 항상 씩씩해야 했고, 항상 감사해야만 했습니다.
슬픔, 아픔 등은 ‘부정적’인 감정이라며 모두 인정되지 않았죠.
약 2년 전 죽을 만큼 힘든 일을 겪으며 제 스스로에게 제 인생을 결정할 권리,
슬픔을 포함한 모든 감정들을 표현할 수 있는 권리가 있다는 것을 알게 되었습니다.
이 곡은 사실 정말 예전에 써 놓았던 곡인데,
제 감정에 솔직해질 수 있게 된 지금에 와서야 곡을 완성하게 되었습니다.
저와 같은 아픔을 가지신 분들께 위로가 되었으면 좋겠어요.
