With the last date of nominations approaching soon, the speculation of whether Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will contest from Amethi constituency is still rife. The Congress has not named its candidate from Amethi, which will go to polls on May 20. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said that party president Mallikarjun Kharge will decide the names of Amethi and Raebareli candidates in the next 24 to 30 hours. The BJP has fielded Union Minister Smriti Irani from Amethi. Meanwhile, according to sources, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra won't be fighting the Lok Sabha elections this year, but she will focus on campaigning for the party.
