Crazy part is 20-25 years ago here in Georgia, we had GD's but dudes was basically "BGD." I rarely heard anyone say "GD" they would just say they "FOLK" and show love to David and Hoover. And that was like "1997" when I was in middle school. I don't know how it got down here but my side of town (Eastside) in Macon, Georgia was the FOLK Nation part of town that's all I saw at school and in the neighborhoods.

this is a great series of videos. covering the gang culture that has had a deep influence in modern rap. its important to know how deep these ties can run if you want to understand the eternal-struggle that has defined rap as a genre. most casual rap fans like myself listen to gang affiliated rappers a lot of the time and forget the depth & seriousness of the issues these people live/lived in. Videos like these further my appreciation in the art & history of rap & black culture in america.

So glad you covered this. Please do deep dive on 64th vs 63rd beef in chiraq or Durk vs Chief Keef beef and include the Migos vs Chicago in that. Chief Keef told Durk to get lost after Durk asked for some bail money so Durk sent Bosstop to snatch Chief Keefs chain right off his neck in his own home while Lil Reese and Fredo were there sitting on couch watching it happen. Durk is the official G in all this. Keef cant even go to chicago anymore ever bc its “on-site” clappin if he does...

Hey Ross, love your videos. A cool idea for this series would be to look at gang culture in Toronto, particularly Driftwood and Regent Park. There have been many promising up and coming rappers from these areas and also a lot of bloodshed such as the killings of Houdini and Smoke Dawg. Although it doesnt seem like it, there are a lot of similarities between Toronto and Chicago's gang rivalries and also music industries.

This shouldn't even be a issue. It's called Black Gangsta Disciple Nation. We all in the same family. When I lived in the Chi I called it for the GDs and my best friend BD Ed called it for the BDs. We both honored King David and King Larry. We attended the same services, made money together, and fought together. If you had s problem with the BDs you had a problem with the GDs,and vice versa.
