I bought this album on 125th street when it came out on those bootleg cassette tapes they used to sell before the industry shut them down. THIS was the version on the cassette. When I bought the CD years later they sampled Sweet Home Alabama instead because Steve Miller's people sued them or something. This version is MUCH better. (BTW I'm a white boy from Brooklyn. And Italian to boot. Ha!)

@@JuggaloSupreme I think he means original beat/sample and with the whole trio. The one from Grip it doesn't have Bushwick on it.
@JuggaloSupreme4 жыл бұрын
@@OOTD_ - Yeah I know, but "Grip It..." came 1st & has the original sample. So even though there's no Bill on it, it's the 1st version & the O.G. version we know before they remade it. No big deal which is everyone's fave, but the original, 1st version is the "real" one. Bill didn't write his verses anyway. ✌

Pretty sure geto boys got sued for using that "call me the gangster of love" sample so they changed it to the "gangster boogie" sample. This is the original version, i can say it with 100% certainty..my friend bought this the day it came out, and this song was my favorite on the album for ages.

@SixAstron7 ай бұрын
This version was on the early original Def American record release back in 1990 with the iconic Steve Miller's Band sample. Due to legal issues with that sample all later versions of this had the not so great "gangsta boogie - sweet home Alabama sample" version. It's true that an almost similar version of this song was introduced on the Grip It! album a year prior but this version is the highly improved " real version".

Sorry mate,in Australia the first version was the first version. I bought (and still have) the vinyl in 91 before CDs were all the hype. The CD you got was the Rap-a-lot reprit after Steve millers label made them pull the sample. I also have it on CD in both Def American and Rap-a-lot versions. My rap-a-lot collection kicks ass..Gold RIAA records, Controvercy (without Willie D of the ghetto boys" original cover) and signed CDs from after the group split.
