Need to do this myself with my woods, really the whole set as I just got my new Sub 70 clubs (699 Pro V2's and 949X 5 and 7 woods). First new irons in 30 years (didn't play the last decade or so due to health issues) so I'm excited.

I use a 5 wood turned down 1 degree. Much more consistent than a 3 wood, good traj. And it gives me a good gap over the 7 wood.

I finally found my perfect gapping for me Stealth 2 HD 9 degree driver (240 - 250 yards) BRNR Mini Driver Copper 13.5 degrees (210-230) Hywood +3 17 degrees (200-210 ) Qi10 Max 7 wood 22 degrees ( 190-200 ) I am 59 years old and an 8 handicap i am not a long hitter anymore but i am pretty straight and high flights great video Mr. Short hitter can relate be well and be safe cheers from Canada

Taylor Made mini driver at either 13.5 or 11.5 turned to what you like should be the Swiss Army knife from tee or fairway. They are great clubs.

You nailed it. 3 wood is great if you can hit it consistently, which I can't. Dropped it for a 5 wood and all is fine. Played a 4 wood for a while and it was slightly longer than the 5 but again not as consistent. Set up on the long end of the bag is driver, 5 wood, 7 wood, 4 hybrid. Keep the videos coming.

Have you tried the callaway apex utility woods? They also seem to fit within the fairway wood and hybrid gap. Seems like a club that you should test!

As a golfer in my early 50’s I used to swing the old 90’s drivers 120 mph. I miss the small heads of yesterday! I am considering a Brnr mini because I hate the large heads. I swing up on the too much plus the longer shafts get me too!

200 yd 7-woods!!!!!!!! WTF This was a great video because there wasn't much of a distance gap from the 7-wood,5-wood and 3-wood respectively. So whichever of the 3 you feel most comfortable with would be the one to keep in the bag. I don't even try to hit 3-wood off of the ground anymore unless it's sitting up real nicely and the situation is ripe for it.

I play a 21 degree hybrid 19 degree 5 wood a a 16 degree 3 wood they are all stix golf I can honestly say best clubs I've hit love it

I think the 3-wood is only for really good golfers with high club speed. I'm a decent golfer with a lower club speed. On two different occasions I compared my 3-wood to my 5-wood on the driving range. Both times, after hitting about 10 balls each, I discovered they went about the same distance, but the 3-wood was all over the place and the 5-wood was fairly consistent. This was about 5 years ago and the 3-wood has been gathering dust at home since then.

I've noticed across the internet and talking with a few golfers that many are taking the 3 wood out of their bags. Most people just don't hit it consistently. I carry one and hit it great more often than not, but the bad shots are really bad. Much more consistent with my old original Snake Eyes Quickstrike hybrid 5 wood with the matching shaft. May ditch the 3 this season. Good video.

That's interesting. It looked to me that the 5w had a straighter ball flight ( push/pull vs draw/fade). Maybe the camera angle? Anyway you found out what you needed to know. "Hit'em straight "

I just purchased the Takomo 3/5/7 woods and love them so far. I also love that all 3 are adjustable +\- 2 degrees so you can fine tune them to your game/gap needs. For me at stock neutral settings I’m getting 240y/225y/210y respectively. I can hit the 7w way better than my 4/5 irons

@@mistahshorthitter you’re going to love it. I also like that the heads are the same size on all 3 so only real difference is loft and shaft length. Meaning very consistent from club to club. My first round with them gave me everything I was hoping for.

At our swing speeds, the top end of the bad can get close on yardage gaps. Important to get fit or experiment to get the right gapping. At our speed you get more carry from the turf with a 5W than a 3W, and there isnt much difference off the tee. Thats why I dont carry a 3W and have a mini driver instead.

I normally carry 3 wood further than 5 wood off the turf. Off the tee I'm probably 10-15 longer with 3 wood.

Our driver speeds are both 93 mph. My 9W is 190 and Heavenwood 198. Then I carry a TM SLDR mini driver for long par 3s and shorter par 4s. Dog leg left I use the mini because I can put some draw on it.

I am seeing Sub 70 in your future! Great video!!! Thank you! Hywood I am 185 - 190 yard carry. 5 Wood is 200 yard carry. Both are accurate and I am happy with both. 3Wood is 200 - 215 yards and right. A few times topped. Unreliable. Have a 4 wood for tight fairway courses. 210-215 yard carry and reliable. I love this club but is just one extra club not used that often. 3Wood, no thank you. I can hit a driver, 4W, 5W and Hywood, no problem. 3W, I cannot hit consistently. All me, not the club. We align MSH! Cheers!

I use a 5w and a 4h that I can hit well. I only use a 3w off the tee if I struggle with driver. Never could hit it off the deck.

I moved on from 3 wood unless I have to chase something on firmer courses. My 5 wood does all I need it too. Including off the tee as it is 200-210. Enough on many holes. Most people if they lack speed to increase launch should opt for more club loft.

Hi MSH! I’ve struggled with 3w carry. I just bought Titleist TSi HL 3w (16.5) and because it’s adjustable lofted up to 17.25 so it’s a 4w. Will give it first go this week

My stock yardages: Driver: 270 3 wood: 250 5 wood: 235 4 hybrid: 215 5 iron: 195 If I played a 7 wood it would replace my hybrid. Guess I could hit a couple and see which one is more consistent

@@mistahshorthitter I didn’t have the flight window I was looking for so after doing some ball testing, I ended up in the TaylorMade tour response. Meets my flight window and my spin window to maximize distance. Nice high flight for a 47 degree decent angle so even with a lower spin, I still get the stopping power I was looking for

I carry a 3 (15) and 5 (19) wood in my bag. I’m more consistent, accurate, and longer with the 5 than the 3 from a tee and the fairway . I think the 3 wood is going to stay at home from now on.

I wish I could hit my woods that good. I carry a 3 wood for off-the-tee and shorter par 4s but am not confident with it off the fairway, usually goes right. Do you have any tips for getting better with woods because I struggle and just hit long irons and end up short of where I would like to be?
