Step 1) PUT IT IN YOUR FREAKING POCKET OR WITH YOUR FREAKING KEYS

Handy tip, do not touch the battery with your fingers, the oil and acids in your fingerprints can cause oxidation on the contacts, best bet is to wear latex gloves when handling the battery, or clean off the contacts with alcohol to remove the fingerprints. I use a set of plastic tweezers that are non conductive, DO NOT use metal tweezers, those can short the battery, ruining it. The same thing goes with watch batteries, keep fingerprints off of them, they will shorten the batteries life.

Or just Velcro the garage door opener where you want it

Why do you have to put it in a mint container? There is plenty of room in the stock housing. Why not just drill a hole in the case of the garage door opener, stick a wire in there, soldier it to the microchip. Then velcro the whole garage door opener to the inside of the panel?
