Smart. Only problem is if you're having sensor issues. I think I need to straight wire or something.

Yep. Even if I tape sensors together, it still does not work

I did this a long time ago. And every now and then I have an issue with the door not working right and it is because the green light is not on. So I get on the ladder and move the sensors slightly to get the green light back on. Mine are taped together above the motor unit and just hanging there and so vibration or something sometimes might cause them to not be lined up even though they are taped together. Now this week the Wall unit died on me or malfunctioned and was not working after a power outage. So I went and got a new Universal wall unit from Genie at Lowes. When I press the button to close the door it goes all the way down but then opens right back up. Usually this is because of the sensors. But it cannot be the sensors because I have them taped up together and both the amber light and green light are on......so I don't know why my door is automatically opening on it's own......

The force down sensor in the opener itself , might need adjusting. It’s acting like it has touched something on the way down and is responding accordingly.

My woodshop is in my garage and I have a screen to keep insects out. It never fails that when you're in a real hurry that screen is gonna give me drama. Thank you for this short but sweet way to remedy this.

can I do this if I only have one sensor working (help)
@fleming11242 жыл бұрын
Yes, just follow video. Take both sensors and wrap them up.

Exactly what I’m looking for. Everytime rain or snow blows toward my garage the sensors prevent door from closing. One question. Does removing sensors interfere with garage door opening and closing properly?
@fleming11242 жыл бұрын
No, everything is smooth. I put a remote by my door because my wire was cut during remodel

legally companies cant work on your operator if your sensors are not in the appropriate spot. they will have to move them where they are supposed to be before they can work on it.
@ronsparks90093 ай бұрын
Just realign them they work. Not disabled.
@jackwilliams5474Ай бұрын
All you did was tape the sensors together. There are about 97 different videos that shows how to do this. Also, I thought he Said no tools.....then mentions screwdriver. Also, even when sensors are touching, door still doesn't close unless I hold button down

That’s not really jumping out the sensor your sensor is still working that’s disabling a safety feature

Just spent $75 for someone to come out they fixed it but now it's doing it again wish I would've seen this first 😪

@@fleming1124 He didn't bypass them. He just taped them together. There are already 97 videos showing that. Nothing novel about this

So all you did was move them you didn’t disable anything the sensors are still hooked up

Do you really need the sensors? Cant a guy just Twist the wire together & Be done with it? My Sensors are junk, so i need to buy new sensors just to bypass them>????????????????????

I don’t know
@TheMuddman742 жыл бұрын
Seemingly yes. But I'm unsure how smart the circuit is. In other words, if the sensors are just completing a circuit then Yes, removing sensors and connecting wires would keep the circuit complete/unbroken. But if the sensors send a reference signal back to a processor that determines if the circuit is open or closed, then NO it will not work. I would imagine older/cheaper systems are the first way, and newer higher tech systems are probably processor/asic controlled. 100% just using logic and basic knowledge of circuits. I'm here because I have questions as well

One guy's video shows that when your foot blocks the infrared signal (you know, the "laser bean") then the sensor is using 140 milliamps. But, when the area is clear of all obstacles, and the sensor reads the signal just fine, then the green LED comes on, and the sensor now uses 40 milliamps more than before. The unit on the cieling actually detects this 40 milliamp difference. Wow. So crazy. So, just stick a 40 milliamps led across the two wires on your sensor, and that should be enough to fool the unit in the cieling.
@jackwilliams5474Ай бұрын
@@MultiPleaser That's great! Can you explain, to a dumb layman like me, how that would work? What should I buy and do exactly?
@MultiPleaserАй бұрын
@@jackwilliams5474 First thing is to measure the voltage, because that has to be right, because too much will fry anything electronic, especially little LEDs. I measured my sensor last night at 6 volts. That means I need 3 typical RadioShack LEDs in a row, in series, because they are usually 2 volts each. In some decorations you'll find really bright 6 volt LEDs. That might be a better option. Easier, anyway. Might even draw enough milliamps. Three of the 2 volt LEDs would be around 60 milliamps. That might be enough, worth a try. All you need to do is make sure the positive lead on the first LED is connected to the positive wire going into the sensor. The positive lead is the one connected to the SMALLER blob of metal inside the LED. It's the opposite of what you might think. If you get it backwards, the LED will be fried. Good thing they only cost 20 cents (before covid). I already started a video. Just need to hunt down some LEDs to see if it will actually work..

That's cool I guess, but that's not disabled... how about when sensors don't work, how to really disable or bypass?
@toddsimister712 жыл бұрын
You can never fully disable them. It’s built into the unit itself that the door will never close without the safety sensors being aligned. However this is a form of bypass for the fact that nothing can interfere with the sensors being lined up.
@jackwilliams5474Ай бұрын
@@toddsimister71 Right, but what if it's lined up but door still doesnt close without holding button?

Good way to injure a kid, adult, dog or other mash-able creature since the system can no longer detect an obstacle and automatically reverse travel. They are called "safety sensors for a reason. Hope you don't get sued.
