I used to work in a tire/lube shop. When we got a flat repair, practice was to dunk it, check for leaks. Inflate to 80 PSI, check for leaks. When they taught me this, I was like "WHAT???! WHHAAUUUT?! 80 PSI?? Are you fricking crazy?! These dudes put in 220 like it's nothing! This actually makes me feel a lot better, as I know I wasn't in that much danger before. I handled that those tires like a bomb, curled over and handling it with my arm extended away.

The fact that tire took the abuse it did is pretty much testament to how madly overbuilt some car tires are. And it's a damn good thing considering it's a vital safety item!

There was a channel called life od that tried exploding a tire purely on air pressure, and I'm pretty sure they reached crazy numbers. But I do know tires can take an intense amount of punishment before finally giving in. My uncle had a truck that got shunted off his land into this huge hole the city has dug for dirt to fill in spots and what not. Anyway, the truck landed on its wheels. A whole engine block in the bed, with lots of extra random scrap metal, and when my uncle drove his Bob cat down to haul it out. He was very surprised to find out that, the tires had not popped in the 40 foot drop

Since fuel economy can be improved by running firmer tires, might I suggest that we all inflate our tires to 200-300 psi? (20 bar) Save money and save the planet! Concrete tires or ice tires (in season only) are other excellent fuel-saving alternatives.

I would have been super scared to fill the tire each time thinking that the tire took some damage and made it weaker every single time... But those small tires are super tough.

Now make a 4 way joystick that actuates four single piston cylinders (use a master from a hydraulic clutch - 2002 Accent for example) in an X formation and connect it to a X and Y axis pivoting joystick with pushrods to press into each master, oriented centrally so that each corner of the X points to the wheels LF, RF, RR, LR starting at top left and going clockwise. Connect the other end respectively to each corner of the car's brakes with brake lines - 4 way selective brakes ;)

Used to work in a photo lab. Fire dept brings in film of dead guy who was welding a 18 wheeler truck rim and did not remove valve core. His head above his nose was sheared off and they showed it with rim on roof where it ended up. He was leaning over it when the heat set it off like a bomb.

Been working in the tire industry for over a decade. The most I have done is around 150, system pressure, without a cage. This is incredibly dangerous. Like death dangerous. I hope nobody else gets this idea.

Over inflating your tire a little will not cause blow-out. As one can see a healthy tire can take a lot. It is the low tire pressure causing a lot of heat while driving that leads to tire failure and blow-out.

Last time I changed my low profile tires, one of them wouldn't pop out while mounting it. The guy at the shop put 6-7 bar of pressure but nothing. He told me he didn't want to go any higher. Next time I'll take my car to Russians. They put 15 bar in a used tire without a problem 😂

I love this channel but you scared the shit out of me while inflating that tire to such a high PSI. When I was active duty USAF, a young airman inadvertently overinflated a nose tire on an F-15. He had been taught an improper and illegal short cut that cost him his life. The nose tire on an F-15 is normally inflated to 325 psi. He had the regulator set to 970 psi and the ten tie bolts that hold the wheel halves together failed and the whole goddamm thing blew up in his face. He never knew what hit him and it CUT HIM IN HALF!!! I was on that very jet about 20 minutes before it happened and it haunts me still. That was in 1986. Please, please PLEASE! respect that kind of force and be careful. I've lost enough people to tragic events. Be safe my friends.

Dude your hand ! (when filling a tire to 200psi) When I was a teenage mechanic, a tire did blow up on me. Of course they have steel belts inside. Broke my hand and thumb joint. I had to get surgery, steel pins in my hand. Really no joke, I have a 2" surgery scar to this day. Lets be careful ok.

I'd like to see a tire stuffed with dry ice, mounted on a rim, hooked up to pressure gauge and sit til it pops!

From what I've seen from offroaders, low pressure is more likely to cause a bead brake/broken rim, high pressure is more likely to cause a blow out.

take a lada and loosen all the bolts in the engine, rod endcaps, main caps, camshaft caps, headbolts, timing chain, crank pully, water pump, just make it really loose.
