Thanks Lew, I started having an issue last night where I would do a save command on a project and it would crash and reset. Happened 3 times in a row. When it came back up it then said the MIDI function was unavailable (which I wasn't even using). Will give the re-install a try tonight, sounds like the best solution.

holy crap, I was so worried because my midi keyboards stopped working OUT OF NOWHERE! but once I quit garageband and opened it again, I had to install a sound package which was strange. but after that, it worked!! thanks so much for the video :)

Still works like a charm. :) Thank you. the most recent update was buggy and the MIDI ins were goofy - as if every note was doubled and sustained. I went to the interface website to make sure I had the most recent drivers - did the update... but it was a waste of time. I deleted then reinstalled - perfect and I only wish I had did it sooner. After trying all other tips and tricks I could to find online solve the issue of no sound on any of my tracks (a few frustrating hours) I watched this and reinstalled garageband....a few minutes later all tracks had sound and my problem was solved. THANK YOU!!!

I can't believe it. I have some music I want done by next week and my entire project had crapped itself. The project would start slowing down after a few seconds and then start dropping notes and drum beats. I copied it all into a new project and the issue persisted. This fixed everything. It's saved me hours of faffing about and pulling whats left of my hair out! Thanks!

Have you experienced any trouble recording MIDI with an electronic drum set? I set it up in garageband and the midi drum track sound drops out after 3-5 secs every time. I switch over to a synthesizer midi and that lets me play the drums fine without dropping out. Garageband still sees the kit and the midi signal and even lets me record but the sound drops out. Reinstall didn't help.

Thanks for this. But I just started using Garage Band and recorded a piano track. The first time I recorded everything was fine. Then I recorded again, and now GarageBand plays back all of the half notes as broken up as if they are 16th notes. Like chords are now running 16th notes. Cannot even figure out what is different. So, you don't lose any .band files saved in Garageband either? I also added other plug-ins and don't want to lose those. I'm using OS Catalina and running Garageband 10.3.4 and having issues with saving the initial file as well as exporting to disk.

I found this major fix is to remove your magnetic case which you are using , the use garage band which works fine with myself , after contacting apple care I got this fix that works amazing

Hi mate, may be you could help me .... My GB can record audio via a microphone in front of a guitar amp, but cannot record any direct instrument . It did, but suddenly ....... glich. hey man, I've had problems with the midi not matching the audio during playback. I tried reloading, same problem. upgraded RAM to 20. if I lock the tracks it will play with no issues. ever heard of this problem? iMac mid 2010 new SSD drive... :(

I recently installed GB on a different device and I'm experiencing twomproblems. The autotune does not appear like normal and when I click on Show Smart Controls my eq knobs are not displaying in the lower right hand like normal. Just a black screen. I uninstalled and reinstalled GarageBand three times. I can get to the home screen and sort through the instruments but once I choose anything anything at all it goes to a no recent screen with the option to press an OK button beneath that. I have tried Long holding on the icon on my main screen and will receive five options from the drop-down list but I have gone through each and everyone of them and nothing works.The same no recent screen. I see an option for connecting to server? What would they want you to enter there? I do not know what else to do.

Hey man I hope you can help me. I’ve restarted, I’ve re installed. I’ve tried everything. I have been trying with my friend to play to his drum track. So I dragged in his wav audio of him playing drums. Then the input for my guitar became buggy, really quiet and only picking up the spikes when I play to hard. I’ve deleted his tracks off my Mac too and still nothing.

I deleted it but im still running into one problem. After about 2:30 / 97 bars, my guitar recording begins to fade out and wont record anymore. Any tips??

My tracks are all lined up but when I go to replay it and listen it skips about 2 times thru out the song. I thought it was because my speaker I play it off of is messed up but that's not the case.A person that I sent a beat to heard the skipping in the beat on there end as well which is not good.Frustrating because everything is lined up the correct way so idk why it does that . Hey man. I just got a 2020 MacBook Pro, and all I have is spotify and some notes. Garageband literally can't record anything without freezing. I deleted it and reinstalled it. It still won't record anything, except for a midi keyboard, without sending the system overload message. Like not even with the built in mic. Are laptops just not powerful enough to run it?

I have that error shows plugin needs update after i installed mpk software. I trashed the mpk and re installed garage band but still showing the same error. The plugin still installed anyway so is there any way to un install that plugin or delete it from system files ?

Just the other day I loaded up GarageBand and uploaded a mp3 file. When I played it back, it had choppy/skipping issues along with playing faster than normal. Any ideas why I got this issue? I opened up an older project and when I played it, I had no issues.

Can you tell me how do I use guitar amps for the track I recorded using software instruments? for eg. I recorded the starting lead in New Divide using musical typing (at Guitar->Hard Rock sound in library) and now I want to add amps for further processing. But when I created the amp track and copied previously recorded software instrument track to it, there was no sound output. One possibility could be that I export the software track and then add the exported audio file to the amp track, but that would be a lengthy and annoying procedure.

I know this is late, but I for real need help. I was messing around with an mp3 file in Garageband until suddenly the knobs in the Smart Controls went missing. But it's only for certain tracks. Also the tuner button is greyed out. I have no idea what the issue is and search engines are failing me. Do you or anyone else know what this could be?

Recently, switching from bar mode to tempo mode, moving the mouse pointer it starts adding random pieces of regions along the tracks. I don't click any button or press any keyboard key. Someone else is saying it but I'll reiterate, smart controls panel freezes to the first software instrument loaded. The next instrument has loaded but the graphic just stays on the first thing that loads up so I can't see what I'm doing!

Hi, I am having glitches using the features on the track layering section on my iOS devices. . the pop up toolbar won't me use the features such to open settings, copy, paste or split... The volume on the tracks won't slide across but I have made a copy of the garage band file and that seems to helped the volume issue.

My problem is, everytime I go to my piano or any other instrument, I press what instrument I want to use and my screen just stay on the loading screen everytime, I even tried downloading GB on my other iPhone and it still does the same thing. Someone please help

One important question : If i reinstall garageband, I can't see how I will not lose effect settings (personalised reverb settings I have saved and applied on numerous projects ) ?. As i understand it the missing saved sound settings will also mean all the volume level parameters I set on those tracks will disappear, so I will effectively lose my mix? cheers

All my other projekts opens but one don’t. I feel I tried everything. Hey! Sorry to bum things out, but I just tried this and it didn´t work. My weird problem is that whenever I import a new mp3 file to my project to mix it, it doesn´t sound. Even though the track volume is fine and it acts as if the song is playing, the master volume shows no activity whatsoever, and neither my headphones. I hear nothing but the track shows all the activity that it should. I am so frustrated, it's not just the one song, it's all of them, but my project works fine, I mean, I've mixed a lot of songs in one track and it works but I can't add any more. Could you help me?:(

Mate, thx for your video but I just had a new installation and I'm having a problem. The "feedback warning window" keeps popping up during my recording, asking to select between 3 options: (1) turn off the monitor (2) turn on the monitor with feedback protection; and (3) disable feedback protection. I need to hear me playing... so this leaves me with option (2) or (3), but it doesn't matter which one I choose, it keeps popping up during my record, every few seconds. My version is 10.3.2. To ignore the warning window is not an option since it pauses the recording. Any thoughts?

I have a good one for ya. No smart controls to be found in GB10 instruments. Im running it on MBP 2010 i7 High Sierra. I tried reinstalling. Nothing. I found next to no info on this so it's seems to be a unique problem. I tried clicking the plug-in rather than the smart control button. Nothing. Ever heard of it?
