My paternal grandma was always a thin, fit woman. Her only exercise was every night after dinner she'd unfold and pull out her trusty old school exercise bike. She could change resistance and other than that it was basic. She'd just ride as she watched TV after dinner. She lived to 96 years old and was able to walk under her own power until the day she died.

We tackled assembling the bike as a family project. kzfaq.infoUgkxzg0clhbtRf2gGxPkVETFKJJKGqdsorQu The package is heavy, but I have 2 teen boys that were able to move it. The written instructions were great- we didn't need to watch the videos, but it was good knowing that the option was there if we needed it. After we were able to get it set up, the boys each rode 3 miles and I rode 8 and the bike stayed quiet. The display is easy to reset, and you can put it on whichever setting you are using (time, distance, calories, etc). I will say that my butt is a little sore from the seat, but that could be because I haven't rode in a while. While it is comfortable for me, it was not comfortable with the seat position for my friend (could not move the seat back far enough and he slightly looked like a kid riding a tricycle that he had outgrown). He also said that the seat hurt his manly parts. We are going to look for a different seat that will be compatible with this bike for him.I did purchase the Wahoo Cadence sensor and strapped it to the crank of one of the pedals. This will sync with my Apple Watch, iPhone and will import data in to my Health app. Wahoo does have other sensors available other than cadence. I can also keep either my phone or my iPad on the display and they both feel pretty secure.

I am a performance and health coach for over 25 years. I have been on almost every spin bike manufactured including many of the ergometers used in exercise physiology laboratories like the monark and watt bike. I have taught on almost every brand of spin bike. Had professional teams of hockey players and lacrosse players, baseball and football players. I have the echo bike in my garage. I have the concept 2 bike erg in my garage. The bike for me hands down…. The best I have ever used, for the quality, feel, technology and community…… is the Concept2 Bike ERG. Hands down no comparison. The rogue echo bike is great but you just can’t do Subthreshold work on it. It’s too hard. I love it and I use it for warm ups and sprints/ anaerobic conditioning. It’s a beast. But if you want a great, light, indestructible, stable, technologically brilliant bike…. Go with Concept 2. PS I was once a master trainer for Technogym. There stuff is amazing. And I still prefer Concept 2. Just my opinion. Hope it helps someone out there

would you recommend a spin bike like a Schwinn IC4 (for example) or a Concept2 BikeERG for someone who has osteo arthritis in their knee and wants to cycle at home to build cardio (to replace running which isn't possible) and also build some muscle around the knee to strengthen it?

@@adamj2683 I went to many gym equipment stores and tried out many bikes. I'm so glad I didn't buy a silent spin bike. I hated how it felt. I bought the concept2 bikerg....so happy...it's the best. I can do long rides or I can do HIT and it definitely feels the best to ride.

The C2 online records make all the difference. Being able to move up the ladder for various distances and times against everyone else in the world is a huge motivator. Plus it’s just a brilliant bit of kit.

Oh my stationary bike: Ye olde Schwinn AirDyne that I bought from my wife's uncle for $300. It was being used to hang clothes. As a bigger guy (6'6, 300), I would have preferred the bigger size of the Rogue Echo. But $300 for an assault bike is a great great deal. I used it 7 days a week and I just love (to hate) it.

Need a recumbent bike option, much better for long term use vs 30 minute intervals. Hope we get to see some content on that! I like being able to watch a movie, use a magnetic flywheel to keep the noise down and also use it while the family is sleeping.

Still love the Echo bike. The support from a large company like Rogue and the years of overall reliability are what attracted me to it - the Toyota Camry of air bikes. Love the low amount of friction it takes to hop on and go.

Their customer service and quality control has diminished over the years. Their e-coat plates come scratches or are not durable to human skin or horse stall mat. And they didn’t stand behind it. -former Rouge fan

It would be interesting at some point to get your thoughts on turbo trainers or even bikes specifically for use with software like TrainerRoad and Zwift. Like, compare the interactive capabilities of the C2 bike with the Wattbike Atom, Tacx Neo smart bike etc. For me, I own a turbo trainer but don't like having to take my road bike on and off it. Ideally I think I'd get an Echo bike for warm ups and typical garage gym workouts and eventually get a C2 bike. I'm not a competitive cyclist and I like the idea of being able to get on the C2 and go without all the calibration, oiling of components etc but can use Zwift when I feel like it.

Purchased the C2 Bike Erg at the beginning of the lockdowns. Used nearly everyday since (11 Million Meters), no issues ever. Typically use for steady state cardio rather than sprints, but great a both. It is a lot quieter than the tradition Air Bikes.

Best choice is Rogue Echo Bike. Reminds me of old school Bodybuilding Gyms, no AC, just an old Squat rack, and rusty heavy Dumbbells (No frills, no pretence). Just a pure, hard workout.

You can buy less expensive air bikes, but eventually you'll end up with the Rogue Echo. I used my AirDyne for 30 years and finally made the jump to the Rogue Echo. It's the bike that years from now will be talked about as how they used to make them when quality counted and they were made to last several lifetimes (those communists can build air bikes!) The Concept 2 erg bike is also a classic and the best choice if the arm motion isn't what you're after.

I have the Concept 2 Bike Erg (and rowing erg) Such good pieces of fitness equipment! Only other spin bikes I have used were in Spin Classes in the Gym. The Bike erg feels like a real bike. I mountain bike for 8-9 months of the year and the bike erg works well for me. It has a narrow Q-factor more like a road bike, but that is fine.

I know its a bit outside the realm of these home bikes, but I much prefer to use my road bike setup on a stationary trainer in the garage than any exercise bike. Paying for a service like zwift is comparable to the peloton style subscriptions in cost and keeps the inside riding very engaging. Granted the Echo style bikes are made for an entirely different ride style but I think this its a great option

Awesome, someone beat me to the smart trainer setups. For a home gym where I already have a real bike, using a smart trainer was a great option for cardio. Wahoo have their KickrBike which is a full stattionary smart bike option too. But all the Wahoo, Tacx and Elite branded smart trainers are probably their own segment since it depends on budget and your existing bike and how deep you want to go on features

Probably a good idea. My grandma lived to 96 and walked herself under her own power until she died. She just had an old school fold up basic exercise bike. Every night after dinner she'd pull it out and ride it as she watched TV. She could change the resistance and that was it. She used that bike as her only exercise for 70 years. No fancy bells or whistles.

You gotta add a bike trainer to your reviews….where you can hook a mountain bike or road bike (or really any) to a flywheel. Takes up less space and you have an actual bike to go outside with. Love to see your guys take on the pros and cons of this for a home garage. I’m sure there’s others who’d like to learn more about this

They're super useful, use equipment you already have (assuming people are active and may already own a bike), and they don't take up a lot of space (most can be broken down and stored in a closet or on a shelf).

In your opinion its it worth it to buy the Xebex over the Bike erg? in my country the price difference its quite big (almost double), and i dont know if you can answer this, but where does the xebex stand against the bike erg?, in the matter of the computer (they add calories the same, they feel the same adding them, etc) and the construction internal and external, i know that the bike erg will last practically forever. So my questions are, is the xebex a good subtitute? are there any substancial differences between the two of them (in the way they add up calories, the feel and the internal construction) so i never get tempted again with the xebex? Older model but I have the Stairmaster Air Max Bike. IMO it's better than the Echo bike for the small but important simple reason that the wheel sends the air to the side and not up into your face. Everything else is comparable.

For the price of a few of these, you could buy a Wahoo smart trainer to connect to Zwift AND an actual real bike. Then you would... have a bike to take outside in the world. Crazy idea, yes but its kind of crazy to spend so much money on some of these that have such limited use.

Maybe late, but the best option is getting an actual bicycle and using a bike trainer. Just mount your bike to the trainer and you're golden. Best of all, you can just not mount it and bike around outside. I don't think anything can beat it.

I think you all missed the mark on exercise bikes. You really need to talk to people who train for cycling and triathlons and not just people who do Crossfit and spin classes. These are bikes designed for people who actually race and ride bikes outside, but also need indoor trainers to train with. Wattbike Adam Wahoo KICKR Bike Tacx NEO Stages kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aZqmhsiG09qYm5s.html All the bikes above are compatible with programs like Zwift for racing and since they are smart, they can adjust the resistance based on what you are seeing on screen. Go up a hill and the resistance gets more intense. The bikes all use magnetic resistance. The Wahoo KICKR bike is the only bike that actually goes up and down. The Tacx NEO provides simulated road feedback. Go over something bumpy and you will feel it being bumpy. There is also a trainer that is a bike treadmill where you can use your own bike. Interview DC Rainmaker or Shane Miller (aka GPLama) or Ben Delaney. We all used to attend Interbike, which was one of the premier cycling industry expos where we got the low down on some of the best cycling indoor trainers out there.

The reason we didn't include those sorts of bikes and trainers is because we need more experience with them. That's a MASSIVE subset of stationary bikes and we need more time with the options before providing recommendations. Thanks for the insights, big fan of DC Rainmaker personally. - Coop

Wahoo or Stages for the higher end. More adjustment ability, built with open platform mentality. Smart trainers - Wahoo, Elite, Tacx At the cheaper end you can spend $$$ to add power meter pedals and buy a seat you like. Peloton lacks reach adjustability. That is a non starter for a lot of cycling purists.

If I’m on a bike indoors, it’s a real bike hooked up to a Kickr in front of Zwift. No other experience has been better for me. Admittedly I am a different breed though in that I lift for increased FTP on the bike.

You forget the 'real' cyclist exercise bikes like the Wahoo Kickr in combination with Zwift.. Thats what indoor cycling is all about imo

Peloton absolutely changed the game for me. I went from zero cardio (yes ZERO cardio) to damn near 500 rides in just over two years of having the bike+ (which IMO is absolutely worth the extra cost.). I can’t describe the rush I get from riding it. Watching all my metrics change and increase over time, seeing how much more I can control my heart rate at higher intensities, watching my name climb up the leaderboard and flip flop with someone who is a perfect competitive match… hitting a new PR. It’s an incredible piece of Equipment I don’t know that anyone can compete with their instructors either. I’ve only had one mechanical issue with the bike and they came out and fixed it no fuss. The only other gripe I would have is most of the music is not to my taste…. But The rock and metal rides make up for that and honestly it’s not hard to get past when your gasping for breath. 🤣 #Teampeloton

I would like to request that the team testing these exercise bikes use a wahoo, or some other biking computer that can measure cadence and watts. I am a shopper looking for a high resistance exercise bike, so knowing how many watts are needed at each resistance level will allow me to purchase the bike that best simulates the demands i already put on the road. I don't want an exercise bike that claims that it has 35 resistance levels if the only difference in them is like 5 watts of difference. Also i didn't hear about espresso bikes. They are used at my local ymca and are amazing, but i want something i can easily purchase.

Not Bike Related but I’m looking at some budget racks. I’ve watched like all your videos over and over can’t decide. Someone help! Was hoping for a Memorial Day sale. At first I was sold on the Force USA one however I don’t like that you literally can only use their attachments. So now I’m looking at the Rep PR-1100 and one of the Titan Models. It looks like some of the titan pieces work on the rep model ? I like that titan has some scratch and dent items to save some money. Any feedback is super appreciated

Good review, but… Would have been nice to see a crossover bike that dips its toes from the gym side into the cyclist world… I’m talking about Wahoo V2 Indoor Bike and Zwift I got rid of my Pelaton and haven’t looked back

You missed out on Wattbikes, Stages, Wahoo, and Tacx. I know those smart bikes are typically a higher price point but you did bring up Kieser. Also, Wattbike has a much nicer air bike than Concept. I own a Wahoo Kickr and almost purchased an original Wattbike several years ago.
