One of the brand new trucks, choking down recycling. By the end of this neighborhood, the truck would barely pack anymore. Final haul: 6700 lbs. Maybe it was still breaking in, because that seems low.

Greetings from northen Sweden. That was a lot of cardboard and plastic containers in there. Here I must say we are good at taking cardboard and paper and plastics to a separate collecting station or the council transfer station. We also have separate bins for our organic waste like left over foods and things like that, it gets collected much the same way as this video.

Well let’s start by saying that recycling material is harder to pack then regular trash. The designer created a slant flow design on the blade to keep material on downwards slide. I have noticed that we have not seen a video in which the crusher panel is dropped and a multi cycle is ran. This design is based off of a front loader pick which naturally can hold more and pack better

Packer extended proxy needs to be adjusted. Packer can go in about another foot and that will make a world of difference on a recycle route. We have these trucks regularly getting 6 to 7 ton of recycle on a 31 yard body. Hope this helps!

Great video! I love watching these trucks on recycle. Wow a new truck, these trucks sure are popular compared to several years back. Everyone seems to be buying them now. Especially Republic, my local hauler. I've seen them buy these trucks nationwide it's crazy. I've heard some good and bad things about these trucks here and there from drivers. I heard that the grabbers leak/lose pressure after a while. What is your experience with that? Despite some drivers I know saying these trucks are terrible on recycling this one seemed to fair well against the stream except for when everything starts getting full, but hey this is only 28 minutes of your work day and not the whole route so I'm sure you know the full story. Thank you for sharing, much appreciated!
@medicalgarbage3575
@medicalgarbage3575 4 жыл бұрын
Man I love your comments so much! Great base for dialogue! We do in fact have a 2017 that's starting to loose pressure; it's not able to pick up all of the yw totes anymore. That's not good, because then another truck has to go (sometimes far out) to get just a few totes. Also, I think the spec for new ZRs is only 500lbs lifting capacity, which is lower than a lot of competitors. All this to say I think there's room for improvement in that engineering. After seeing how other bodies pack recycling, I can say I'm thoroughly unimpressed with McNeilus' ability to do the same. The design relies too much on gravity to pull the refuse to the bottom of the hopper, and with light recycling, that just doesn't happen. So you either have to cycle the packer many times in hopes of dislodging the material, or you have to climb up there to smash it down. Noone wants to climb up there more than they have to, for both time and safety concerns. We just demo'ed a Currotto/Heil Half Pack in this subdivision that packed it without a problem. Much safer, MUCH more efficient. And yeah, unfortunately this video was started right at the beginning of the subdivision, and it was still already jamming :(

@@medicalgarbage3575 Wow thank you for the info. I also forgot to ask in my original comment if this new truck has the packer cycle twice feature? When the ZR first came out they had the packer cycle twice after each dump cycle. I wonder if they got rid of that feature since then.

@@wnytrashtrucks beg to differ with you about most people know, I operated a FEL back in 1975 for a short period and the equipment available then was certainly not what you have now, ie, no backup or hopper camera, no sliding top door, no joystick etc., hence my reason for asking.
@medicalgarbage3575
@medicalgarbage3575 4 жыл бұрын
Yep the hopper camera (if the manufacturer put it in a good place) kind of looks into the hopper and into the inside of the can, when the can is in the dumping position. So if a cardboard box is jammed in there there's a good chance you'll see it; if it's low down in the can, this isn't the case. If your camera is broken, you just have to shake the can, hope everything comes out, and look at it as best you can (no pun intended) when it comes back down. In terms of how the arm works, what were you looking for? :) On these, there are two hydraulic-driven motors attached to a large plastic toothed wheel. They spin the wheel, which in turn climbs up the large black "candy cane" track. One of the motors has a brake on it to prevent the can from falling, in case of hydraulic failure
@bigtruknut
@bigtruknut 4 жыл бұрын
@@medicalgarbage3575 reference the pickup arm, do you operate it manually, joystick etc, or is it automatic when you pull up to a can. Also do you only use your mirrors to line up with the cans? Another question, how far can the CNG trucks go before needing to refuel and are they more prone to repairs than the diesel trucks of the past?
