Meh, the card game in DW3 was a nice distraction, but doesn't feel as enjoyable as the actual card game that was on PS1. Should give that a look if you ever got the time. It's.....kinda long for a card game? Probably longer than it has a right to be, but it's fun.

When I was a little kid in the 3rd grade for Christmas me and my brother got a PS2 for Christmas. Me and him each got our own game and I got Digimon World 3 as my first game on it, I have such good and special memories playing Digimon World 3. I rarely beat RPG games, but with Digimon World 3 I really put in the effort and beat it. I loved the music, the areas were pretty and the sprites were very cute. Digimon World 3 is such an under rated game that all Digimon fans should try and experience. I never knew about your channel until now. Yes, it has some flaws but i would pay top money for this game's remaster just with updated graphics and a better training system, just as you mentioned, on PC. Nothing else should be changed (not story, 2d-3d play style, turn based combat system, art, etc) not even 1 bit apart from those 2 things i mentioned. Nice vid! The only thing for me with this game is it took a long time to grind through the stuff - which isn't bad - but also felt like everything took a long time. Also wish you could save wherever, getting lost in the tunnels with Digmon and not being able to save for hours while fighting countless Drimogemon wasn't fun. I did enjoy the card game though. That said, I love the design of Persiamon, Zanbamon, Gryphonmon and Pharaohmon, which feature in the game. These are imo underrated Digimon and its a shame they haven't made more appearances in other Digimon media including other Digimon games.

Great review Casp. I gotta say I want to try Digimon World 3 now. I'm glad they took out the pet care tomogotchi part of it. I hated having to make the digimon go to the toilet, get medicine, and eat a lot. I'm glad the third digimon world focused more on the battles and the digivolving more so than the crappy training of the first game. I hated getting lower tier digimon from accidentally having a digimon die. It seems though that digimon world 3 did have some good improvements.

Enjoy your walking piece of shit, bro! Definitely give 3 a try. It's an enjoyable experience for the most part. If you can remove the frame limit on an emulator to bypass the grinding, that might be a good idea. Let me know what you think when you play it!

It's funny. I always thought the blue boxes which now are obviously incremental loading were intentional when I was a kid, because your character is playing an MMO and that was a really immersive way to remind you of that whenever you ran into it. Maybe it's a bit of both, a way to boost load times that also somehow manages to be diegetic?

I remember losing many times to I think Zanbamon, the first strong optional boss. So I left it alone, went through most of the game, came back much later with many high level monsters. I was nervous, but I won easily... I also had made maps for all the subterranean spaces, had almost all cards and all the shit... But I never finished the game, I came close though, but I stop poured for grinding for 100%. Only the boss and unlocking all evolutions remained Another nice thing in this game is the sense of scale in battles. If your dgmn is huge, the enemy will usually look very small

This came out super great dude! Super glad to see this come out the way it did! I've gotta say, I completely agree with you about the end points; it's quite amazing how 3 drastically different games of the same series have the same fatal flaw. The second half of DW3 is bullshit. If it had just gone in a different direction for the second half, maybe it would have been better.

I do love the evoloution mechanic in this game though, the grind is tough but if you can get which ever digimon you wish , its worth it. I love going for Veemon then evolving it to Imperialdramon Palidin Mode. Then agumon evolving it to Diaboromon. And Guilmon who i turn into Beelzemon . :D Also if you play 2003 , the european version there is a post game.

It was one of Game Boy's best competitors on the handheld market, designed by the Game Boy's designer Gunpei Yokoi. The first iteration was a 16-bit system with 8 greys and then got a color version, much like the GB and GBC. It was moderatly succesful, so succesful that 15 Digimon games were released on it. 15 god damn Digimon games. Some card-battling games, some fighting games and ofcourse RPGs. And at least the first one, Digimon Adventure: Anode Tamer, came in English. So, if you ever run out of localized and fan translated Digimon games, there is always the Wonderswan. It actually got quite a few license games, like Dragonabll, Hunter x Hunter, Shaman King, Inuyasha and One Piece. Even Square supported it with a few FF ports and entirely original games. PS: Jade Cocoon is a cool monster collecting/raising game on the PS1. A Ghibli artist worked on it.

Interesting fact- the blue panels are solely asthetic!!! As a kid I had a disc of this game that I had taken less than stellar care of and certain areas would fail to remove the blue squares and it was a 50/50 with each random encounter whether the game would crash completely in those areas. However, you could fully traverse them and make it through if you didn't proc a random encounter and I learned to navigate the Plug Cape and Suzaku city blind because of this 😅😅

The biggest issue I had with DW3 is that, compared to the other ones, it had the most inconsistency with what the hell it wanted to be. I loved the cutesy overworld graphical style, but loathed, loathed, the in-battle garbage. It's like all their budget went into the overworld, and they just said fuck the fidelity on everything else. It probably started with DW2 (which thought was good, not as good as 1, but good), but the more digimon they seem to add, the more generic the fighting got. I loved the DW1 battle style, and I loved how even the "generic" moves felt special (thunder justice
