If you want to be a Garda make sure you have either been bullied in school or have been a bully and you’ll be very good at it. Also you have to say “Are you getting fucking smart with me”. Also taking drugs off kids and selling them yourself.

I'm 54 now but when I was 19 I tried to become a Garda but was turned down because I was half an inch too short. I was devastated as it had always been my dream. Nowadays that would not be a barrier. I was born 30 years too soon.

In my opinion they should all have guns for self defence and to make them more scary and intimidating cuz im from ireland and no one is scared of gaurds so theres loads of drugs and robberys i remember when i was 15 i used to steal drinks from shops around the country and i got cought a few times but all i had to do was run into a field and im home free if they had a gun i wouldnt evan think of stealing evan a bar

The recruits leave this wonderful facility and go out into society and within twelve months hanging around the old dodger Gardai are corrupted into laziness and kickbacks, free alcohol from publicans to ignore licensing laws allowing drink drivers to mow people down .... well that’s the way it actually is in County Clare

It's Irish. The full name is "An Garda Síochána na h'Éireann" which means "The Guardians of the Peace of Ireland". Originally the organisation was known as the "Civic Guard".

After increasing the cut off age for recruitment from 35 to 50 it was announced earlier today as well as making amendments to the fitness test. If that doesn't scream of desperation to compensate for the recruitment/retention crisis they're having at the moment I don't know what does 😆. An exceptionally worded politically correct explanation provided by Mcentee as well stating that the changes were made to coincide with "people living longer and increase diversity within the force". If that woman isn't up for an IFTA Award when it comes round next time It'll make the Ryan Tubridy RTE Payment scandal look like pittance 😂.

I really wanted to be a gard growing up. did the online tests tho and wud never be able to pass them .. hopefully it is a blessing in disguise it's probably a horrible job now more then ever being a gard.

You have to wait until the recruitment campaign is open. It’s early this year apparently but keep your eyes peeled as it could be any day

I went for garda training... They failed me because.... I couldn't lie well enough... My ability to slither and twist the truth lacked in inhumaty I just couldn't be the robot they were lookin for... Ya'know... The type that can lie through there teeth just to get the job done.. No matter the consequences..... I was not inventive enough on the inventing charges part of the test.... We all know the one... Stop someone for something that's not true... One thing... That in ten minutes flat turns into ten charges... But don't worry your not going to prison.. These ten charges are just a way to get as much money out of you as possible in fines.. And that's grand now on your way....nd yeah you've got 28 days to pay and if you don't we'll get more out of you.... No matter what your real life economical position might be.... Because the law does not care about people....

I think they got rid of a few years ago. You used to have to be 6ft tall before they got rid of that too. Not enough applicants.

The gardai training is clearly pathetic and useless .There's not enough time spent on training in programed should be atlest 2years or more . Alot of gards just seem to complain dat the training in wasn't up to standards to what they have to do on the job its like why can't they go give usefully feedback to there college and allow for changes to take place . Looks like ye just have a great laugh and easy going enjoyable time

@@geoffpoole483 not even remotely the same thing. Your example is grossly oversimplified. I’m American and the Irish are more than welcome here. And the only reason they had a bit of a tough time here in the 19th and early twentieth centuries had less to do with them being Irish and more to do with the fact that they were Catholics (the US was a deeply Protestant nation back then). Also, many of the Irish immigrants coming to America back then had criminal backgrounds. Obviously, that is a much different story today. Ireland belongs to Irish people. Europe belongs to Europeans. The reason Europeans assimilate so easily in America is because the US is a European diaspora country; it’s essentially an extension of Europe. So we welcome Europeans here.
