A late start to the garden this year, but we're under way finally. First step - plowing.

Fun to watch these Allis videos. Reminds me of the neighbors collection. He had the roll over plow on his D14.

Glad you are enjoying them. I'll soon be getting the Allis out of its winter nap to start the garden prep. No snow to plow this winter yet, so I haven't needed it.

thanks for showing the implement. I have a D15 that's new to me and didn't know these had a proprietary set up.

Good video. Do some fine tuning like a little more speed, adjust the right side tires in closer and that little Allis won't even know it's back there!

I just got done on a total re-hab of a d14. Guy down the road had a 3-bottom allis plow for super cheap so i picked it up. Have not used it yet, but i am concerned that the d14 will have enough "ump" to pull a 3-bottom. Anyone have an allis d series and have tried to pull a 3-bottom plow?

Depends on where you are and what your soil is. They will struggle in heavy clay sod, but will do fine in sandy or loamy soil. They will get the job done! Just have to adjust the tractor and plow to the soil conditions.

Am I wrong in thinking if that plow had sod cutters, it would be doing a much better job? I don't know allis that well, but I know the difference on a farmall 230 with fast hitch 2 bottom plow. Sod cutters clean everything up.

Ha ha I just needed to watch to the end!

Yes, I got a set of sod cutters with the plow when I got it, but they were not attached. Also, I am missing one of the connecting arms/brackets, so I couldn't put them both on, so I didn't bother with them. But, they would be helpful.

Did the tractor have a loader on it at some point ??
@countrylivingonashoestring51595 жыл бұрын
When I got the tractor, it had the loader bracket already on it. I was told by the owner that he thought the previous owner/neighbor had a trip loader on it at some point. We checked with the neighbor, who told us it was laying in the weeds for the past 10 years. We found it and he offered it to us for free. He had the hydraulics in the back of his garage. They were pretty rough. But, I got them and the loader when I picked up the tractor. I've managed to get the hydraulic hoses replaced, but I haven't put the loader on yet. The front tires on the tractor were pretty bald when I got it, so I didn't want to deal with a blow out given the extra weight of the loader on the front end. I replaced the front tires this past winter - one of my Christmas presents. I also got some new cabling to replace the trip cable on the bucket. I just have to put the loader on, hook things up, and see if it all works. The loader frame itself and the bucket are rusty, but still solid, so hopefully, it will all work.

Good job, when u get a chance reattach that wing extension on the second plow, It will help to turn the dirt over better, I had a plow just like that for my D14, I also had the 7 1/2ft snap couple pickup disc for my tractor, it did a great job, but as you said they are rare to find one, Keep looking having the 3 pt hitch attachment will make you a happy camper as you can use most 3 pt implements with your tractor, That snap couple bush hog is fairly rare, I never had one, use a 3 pt hitch bush hog with my tractor , Stay safe, Question: does your tractor jump out of third gear going down hill, this is one of the low points of this tractor as third gear gets worn down, that under belly snap couple hook can get loose check it from time to time and be sure all safety keys are in place,

Hi, thanks for the comments. The extension is on the second plow, but wasn't swinging loose, so it didn't extend. I should have noticed and fixed it before finishing the plowing. I've looked into the 3 pt conversion kits. They look good, but I don't have the $300-400 to put into the tractor right now. My brush hog isn't a snap coupler. It is a standard pull behind tongue. I have the snap coupler into tongue attachment that came with the tractor. I'd love to have an underbelly or 3 pt mower. The pull behind takes a lot of room to turn around; especially in tight areas. No, I haven't had the problem with the tractor jumping out of 3rd gear. I know it's a common problem with the D14s. I guess whoever owned it a few owners ago didn't use 3rd as the default gear. The guy I bought it from used it mostly to brush hog trails and plow his driveway. Thanks for the advice on the snap coupler hook. Since this is my first Allis, I'm still learning things about it.

The plow is not well adjusted, the first furrow has too much space..

Thanks for the observation. Still getting used to the old equipment; which is new to me.
